It's been snowing a lot in some parts of the United States recently - in Minnesota, for instance - and it's only a matter of time before Maine gets hit by a snowstorm. This painting is of Dover, New Hampshire in a snowstorm - Dover is close to where I live. I like snow; my feeling is, if it's going to be cold, it ought to snow, too, so I can have fun in the winter (skiing, snowshoeing, walking...). What's your opinion about snow?

Journal Question #15 (2010-2011)
Snow. It's coming. Are you ready for it? Do you like it? It's been snowing a lot in some parts of the United States recently - in Minnesota, for instance - and it's only a matter of time before Maine gets hit by a snowstorm. This painting is of Dover, New Hampshire in a snowstorm - Dover is close to where I live. I like snow; my feeling is, if it's going to be cold, it ought to snow, too, so I can have fun in the winter (skiing, snowshoeing, walking...). What's your opinion about snow?

I love snow and that's the reason why I choose to study in Maine. There is no snow in Canton because Canton is in the south part of China and it's cool and wet everywhere. But I feel so strange and a little upset that there is still no big snow here. Especially at the time when there are a lot of homework to do, I really want the snow day come soon.I like to go skiing in the winter and play the snowball.And i like to make the snowmen.
ReplyDeleteSnow can warm my heart though it's really cool. In the snow day, noone want to stay outside so the family can together much earlier and have more family activities.I can have more time to play with my friends and talk with them. However, Snowstorm is not a good thing. I still can remember what happen in China in 2008. There was a terrible snowstorm before spring festival. At that time, the traffic jams were everywhere in the country, the heat didn't work, the people was cool to die. It seemed like the end of the world was coming.
However, I still love snow.
Actually, I have been waiting for the snow for a long time! My homestay mom told me that the snow showed up in Saco last year during the Thanksgiving. But now, it is so close to Christmas and the snow is not here yet. Someone in my class keep saying that this year is so weird cause we got so much rain instead of snow.
ReplyDeleteI like snow a lot because in the place I live it doesn't snow a lot. Sometimes the snow doesn't even show up in winter. I am quite excited to the first snow. My homestay made a pool in the backyard, so that we can ski in the winter. Since the water in the pool is already frozen, the boys had already played there twice and it looks pretty fun. Although, I want to play on there but I am afraid to fall in the water...
Hopefully, the snow won't cause many problems to go outside. If it does I guess I may not like it that much. But on the other hand, it gives us more time to stay with our family together. Which is quite good.
I like snow soooooo much. I still remember last year, the first came on the homecoming day, It was really at that time. We ran, jump and do everything we can do in the snow day. I even went out of the dorm only with my T-shirt!!! But unlucky, I got sick one day after that and miss the class.
ReplyDeleteSnow? big snow? They are not enough. Actually, I like snow really heavily and really badly. U can guess what gonna happen? Yes, snow day!!! WOW. We have at least four snow days last year. We don't have any homework at snow days and do everything for fun.
Another big deal is we can do snowboarding during the winter. I went to the sunday river yesterday, and did snowboarding. It was fun but I falled thousand times.

I love snow sooooooo much. I just can feel cold these days. Every morning when I get up, I will look outside to find whether there have snow. They said the first snow came to Saco at homecoming last year. Why this year is so strange?
ReplyDeleteI ignore the risk of cold come to Saco just because I want snow. We can have a lot of fun during the snow day. I want to go ski and play with my classmates in the snow. I miss snowmen I made in China.
My homestay said if there are snowing heavily, we will have school day off. I really don't like this idea. It will reduce our summer holiday and we can't go anywhere but stay at home. It will be so boring.
Anyway, My biggest dream so far is having a snow right now!
I love snow because of some of the reason. When we have big snow. We will have a school day off. But I like playing with snow rather than a snow day off. Because in china I lived in East Part so we rarely have snow in Shanghai. Also when I move to Shanghai I only saw snow twice. So I want to see snow. Also I realized play with snow is a fun thing to do. I don't have many chance to play with snow. So this is the reason I want snow here.

I don't like cold so i don't like snow. But if we get a big snow we will have a snow day. No school the most perfect time in the world. At least in my life sometime i think the long vacation don't make me feel happy. But if we have a day is day off during the school days i will very happy. Sometimes the snow day we can sleep until 10:30 then go have brunch but at that time i always get up early than school days maybe 7:00AM? HAHA! I LOVE SNOW AND I LOVE SNOW DAY!

ReplyDeleteI think the snow come here a little late this year because the snow came here in September last year and i didn't see any snow until December this year. Anyway the snow looks beautiful and i love to watch it. AS you know i come from Canton (the same as Ray)and it never snow in my hometown. Of course we can also have a day off if the snow is too big. That's my favorite part of the snow.
ReplyDeleteBut i don't like the feeling of the snow because it's too cold for my and i always get sick in the cold winter. That's why i prefer the nice and warm sunny day in the summer.
IT's SNOWING. When I woke up in the morning, I saw the outside and it was all white. This is my first time to see snow and I was so excited. I don't like it much because it's so cold. However, I'm waiting for skiing because I will stay here for Xmas with my friend's family and we will ski together. It will be really fun!

I think that I have seen three times snow since I came here. But they are all small snows. I am waiting for the big snow. I hope it is coming soon to make me happy.
Beijing has lots of snow in winter, but I don not like it. The snow melt so fast, and makes roads so dirty. Then I can not play outside, even can not walk outside. I like the snow in Maine is because the snow here is much cleaner than it in Beijing. I can play outside in the snow day. I like making big snow balls. And I like making snowman. It will have a lots of fun.
Also, it is so hard for me to get up that early to go to school in winter. If the snow is heavy, we can have a day off. Then I can sleep late, and stay in my warm room. This is the other reason that make me love snowing.
I hope that I can see more snow before I leave.
AND I really really like the painting of Dover's snow. It is soooo pretty. I will do a painting when I see the beautiful snow day in Maine, although I can not do it that well.
I love snow because I love to ski, it is one of my favorites sports. I also enjoy playing with the snow. The problem is that I don´t like winter so much because I only want to have one or two weeks with snow and then warm weather. In Madrid we usually have one week with snow and not too much, so for me this perfect because in the mountians we have a lot of snow. Madrid has a nice weather in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI think that Christmas with snow is always very beautiful. I can´t imagine having a Christmas vacation without snow, especially the 24th and the 25th. I hope that snow arrives soon.

This is Tammy. Winter is my favorite season because of the snow. In my mind, snow is the best gift from the nature. It's white and clean. And it's also the symbol of pure things.
ReplyDeleteBefore I come here, I lived in my hometown--Beijing. In Beijing, there is also some snow every year and it's the happiest time for me every year. When i was a child, i made snowman and play snowball with my friends. After i grew up, i started like walking in the snow. Especially when there was no footprint on the ground. I like to listen to the sound when i walk in the snow. It made me feel soft and comfortable. When i looked at my footprint behind me, I feel safe and interesting.
Now i study in Maine and i know there will be lots of snow in this winter. It will be much heavier than Beijing and i'm looking forward to meeting the biggest snow this year. I'm so excited about that!
By the way, if it snows heavily, we needn't go to school! That's another reason why I love snow.

So I feel exciting when I see the snow.It's white, it can change the colour of the city.I don't know why, the snow come late in the year of Maine, I waited it.And I saw many movies, the snow always means romantic.I still remember last year, we had snowball fight, skiing and make snowmen.If I can get a girlfriend in this snow season, it's perfect.

ReplyDeleteI like snow, it is pure white. In my hometown, snow hardly shows up.But this year, my hometown is snowing, I will not miss out on the first snow of my hometown. I have expected the winter in Saco for long time, I was excited when I saw the first snow in Saco, we will definitely have a lot fun,skiing ,snowshoeing.....
ReplyDeleteAlthough it is going to be very cold, I still really enjoy watching snow falling down from the sky. It makes me quit. I feel like living in a white world, nothing can bother you You can just walk in the snow and you feel you are part of it.
It will be the most unforgettable winter in my life. Because snow, even if more beautiful, one day it will melt. Fireworks, even if more beautiful,it will disappear. Never disappear, and only memory of happy moment.
i like snow, i like cold weather, i still remember the snow last year. i saw snow before, but i never see snow like in Maine, it was huge, but i like it, we had lots of fun fight in the snow, made a snowman, i also went to snowboard, it was really fun. i love it. i will go again when my back get better. in winter, we cant do too much activity outside, but we still can play basketball inside.

I love snow so much, and i love this season,too. Winter is my favorite season. I come form beijing China. There are a lot of snow in my city on winter. One reason for me to like snow is my favorite color is white. White signify pure and innocent. Actually i am an innocent people too. The other reason for me is i like snowboard very much. Snowboard is a fantastic sport i have even seen before. When you are carving at the snow mountain, you are complicity surfing on the snow. Snow can give you have ever never felt before.

Do I like snow or not depends on where am i living. If i living in the city (like my hometown) i will hate snow, cause snow makes everything dirty. And it will brings on more traffic. But if i living in the town(like here) i won't think snow is too bad. The street can still keep clean everyday during snowing weather. And there always have a snow day when storm coming.

ReplyDeleteActually I don't like snow in Beijing, one reason is the way is too dirty, the rugged dirty snow， and the other reason is I can't go to school by bike, but bike is the most convenient way to avoid the traffic jam. When I saw the snow in Maine, I was really shocked by the color. It's so clean and pure，it just lay on the ground and makes the air cold. Snowing means the Christmas Day comes soon and we will welcome a new year.
Snow promises a rich crop.
I love winter. it's my favorite season of the year. I know it is cold, but i love to wear a lot of clothes and big coats, and have a hot chocolate at Starbucks while it is snowing outside. i love it. And yes, of course i love snow. so i think i'm going to enjoy my stay here. i love snowboarding and walking through the snow while my boots are under the snow and i can hear every step i take, It's awesome!!
