Halloween is this Thursday, and many people - not only children - will dress up, some in masks. Every culture has rituals that include costumes of some kind. Pictured above, for instance, is a Native American mask. Why do humans wear costumes and/or masks? Do you like to dress up and pretend you are someone - or something - else? Do you plan to wear a costume or a mask for Halloween? Why or why not?

(Dowon Lee) I heard the purpose of wearing costumes in Halloween is abolish ghosts. I don't usually dress up and pretend me like someone. However, if my friends ask for dress up, I'd like to do it. Unfortunately, I didn't wear costumes since I got friends after they ordered their costume set. So, I won't miss wear costumes with them next time.

DeleteHumans wear costumes or mask because that is traditional culture of their country, it can make people feel relax and have fun with their family .I want to be pennywise,wear mask and be a monster ,because I want to make my friend be scared
ReplyDeleteIn Mexico we have ”el dia de Los Muertos” that is similar to Halloween in where we celebrate the dead(We don’t wear masks). My costume was the Cookie Monster because he represents me , I ate cookies everyday

DeleteEvery year, we have Halloween. In this day, all most people will dress up or costumes some of interesting characters. They wear like that because it is a traditional culture. So they can relax and have fun with their family in the busy day. I want to be a NBA player. I want to know the feeling when they see a famous person.

ReplyDeleteIn Korea many elementary school student’s wear costume In Halloween.and they turn around the houses and they said trick or treat.and get a candy.in this day many students feel funny.i have plan to wear costume in Halloween.because I think it will be funny,and nice experience.

ReplyDeleteHalloween is a funny festival and people usually wear costumes at that day. People wear costumes because it is a traditional customs and it’s also very funny. Unfortunately, I didn’t dress this time, but I will wear costumes next time.
ReplyDeleteI don’t like to dress up and wear mask on Halloween .I think it looks so strange.I didn’t plan to wear a costume or mask for Halloween.Because,I am myself, I don't want to dress up as anyone.
ReplyDeleteI wasn’t planning to dress up in Halloween,i had dressed in Halloween in the past but i’m not really fan of dressing up like a monster and stuff like that ,in my country we don’t celebrate Halloween that much so I’m not use to go trick or treat or dress up.
ReplyDeleteHalloween is a special holiday in the United States, but in China, only a few people have Halloween. Chinese children can only ask for sugar from their parents or relatives and friends.
ReplyDeleteHalloween here is the same thing as in Mexico. In both countries people dress up with a costume and go out for candy. I used to like costumes and dressing up for Halloween, but now i don’t do that any more. I think people were masks because it is a tradition and every people follow the tradition.
ReplyDeleteHalloween is not celebrated in my country as it is celebrated here, people sometimes disguise themselves because here Halloween is much more important and has much more history than in other countries. I don't plan on dressing up for Halloween because I don't like that tradition
ReplyDeleteIn my country, people do not usually celebrate Halloween so it was my first time to go to a Halloween party. They wear some kinds of costumes and go to the houses for trick-or-treat. I like to dress up and be a spooky ghost because it’s really fun! This Halloween, I dressed up like a Harry Potter and drew some fake wounds on my face. I had a really fun time in the party.
ReplyDeleteHalloween is a common festival in my country. I wasn’t planing to dress for Halloween but finally I ended up dressing, I don’t usually dress in Halloween it’s not a thing a like, I would like to have a proper party in Spain of dresses, it’s a funny thing and it’s always curious to think of a original dress that nobody is going to wear.
ReplyDeleteIt's said that on Halloween, the boundary between the world and the underworld will become very blurred. The best way to prevent ghosts is to put on a mask and pretend to be another ghost. But in fact, this kind of behavior is only in self comfort, more people have awe of the ghosts and gods, and then Halloween gradually moved to the happy wind. I like to dress up. I like to dress up myself. On Halloween, I will wear the mask of Spiderman because spiderman is very handsome
ReplyDeleteIn korea we don’t celebrated Halloween. But in America Halloween is one of the big Holliday. People wear costume and walk around and get candy. I didn’t dressed up in this year. But maybe I will dress up for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteIn China, we don’t celebrate the Halloween. And the reason why people wear costumes or masks because maybe it can scare away ghosts. And I like to celebrate the Halloween, but I don’t plan to wear strange clothes, because I haven’t bought.
ReplyDeletethink people want to just were masked and costumes at Halloween because it’s fun event what we are celebrating. Some people thinks it differently example like they are missing they’re friends or relatives who are not there with them.
ReplyDeleteI like dress up at Halloween sometimes because if we have party. This year in TA I didn’t dress differently at Halloween cause I wasn’t on Halloween mood so much. I wanted to take weekend easily and relax.
Halloween is common in my country. even tho we celebrate Día de los muertos,is almost the same thing but with more traditional elements such as catrinas, pan de muerto and many other things.

Halloween in China is held in almost every school. This is the first Halloween I came to the United States. I think I will probably go and experience the local culture.

ReplyDeleteI usually dress up in Halloween,i had dressed in Halloween in the past but I don’t like to dress up ,in Brazil we don’t celebrate Halloween that much. It in the other country that I have lived Mexico , France we celebrate a lot Halloween
We never have Halloween in China, so I want to bring a mask to Halloween. I want to pretend to be a Chinese video producer with a unicorn mask on his head.
ReplyDeleteIn my country have Halloween same as American because American people come to my country any ring this festival to us. We celebrate same as American’s Halloween, dress up and eat candy just for fun. I would like to dress up to scare someone
ReplyDeletePeople wear mask to transform themselves into something else like a character at least for a day, I don’t like dressing up I general because It takes a lot of work and it is uncomfortable. I wore a LED mask this year with my friends and it was really fun.

Type of party because is a important tradición since a long time ago and we can have a lot of fun and enjoy with the family and friends. But a lot of countries don’t celebrate Halloween due don’t like to celebrate the days of deaths Pearsons.

ReplyDeleteHalloween is good but in awer religion is not allowed in my country that are many national nationality all of them have their on customs they wear it because that reflects their nathion. We wear our customs on holidays. Wearing custom is good.
Halloween is a day to be the person that you would like to be normally u dress up like a bad character because is the day of the death. The kids go around the houses to ask for candys
ReplyDeleteI think people wear different clothes and masks on Halloween just to show the festive atmosphere. I used to wear fantasy on Halloween, because my middle school is not allowed to do this.
