Journal Question 14
Ever feel stressed out by school? What are some good ways to cope with, avoid, or eliminate stress? What can a student do to make his/her life at school as stress-free as possible? Share some tips with your fellow students, and read some of your classmates' ideas; you might find out ways to improve your life at TA and beyond!

Of course, many times I've felt very stressed while studying. However, I know that the pleasure of see results of studying are very satisfactory, and also the stress of studying are much smaller than the stress of get bad grades and bad results ahead in my life. My favorites activities to avoid stress are play tennis and hang out with friends. With them, I can enjoy my time at the same time that I know that I did what I must have done. Also, to avoid stress, I guess that a student need to make a plan of studies and dedicate himself/herself toward it. Studying is not easy, but it is necessary and the knowledge gained is so valuable.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, I always feel very stressed at school, especially when I studying in some difficult subjets. Why would I feel stressed when I study? In my opinion, I think it is because my parents hope I can get good grades in every class. Therefore, I have to study and feel stressed. Anyways, I have some good ways to eliminate my stress. First, I always hang out with my friends, that can make me feel happy and forget about my grades. Second, I watch some comedies to relax myself. Third, I choose some easy courses, that can reduce my stress. However, I still need to study hard.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I never feel stressed out by school In my opinion,some students always feel stressed at school because they didn't use of their spare time as well.We must meet a lot of challenges during the studying,it might be too much pressure,but I think we can increase these pressure by ourselves. For instance,we can always find some good friends to do some sports after school,or we can hang out with our friends on weekends.We also can go hiking or running during the holidays.That has a lot of fun that we can make by ourselves.I believe if you do that, you will never ever feel stressed by school anymore.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that I feel stressed at school all the time, even when I'm in Chinese school I don't feel that much stress, and I don't think I ever feel stressed at school here. Teachers and classes here are so much better than the way in China. I think maybe it has a little to do with my family, both of my parents don't really care about my grades, maybe they are just to lazy to care, but they just never really ask me about anything to do with school, teachers or classes. And every time I don't feel like doing anything or stressed, not just about school, I simply turn around and walk away, I'm the run-away-from-trouble kind people, trying to fixed is never my first choice, and I don't plan on changing this in the short future. The only tip that I can think of is to change your attention everytime you sees a hole in your life, just look at somewhere really beautiful first, and then sit down and breath, then start to figure out how you gonna fix this this time, or how you are gonna run away. May not be useful, but this is almost what I do everytime, and I'm still alive. So...try everything.
ReplyDeleteI've never been stressed in this school, here it is really easy to get good marks if you study a little bit every day, if i have to compare my spanish school with this one, TA is much easier, i've only been stressed in my spanish school because my teachers and my parents, i don't really like my teachers and i think my parents force me to study a lot because they want the best for me in the future, one way that i always use, and it works so good for me is: you need a pillow or something similar, then you put it in your face and you scream as louder as you can, but my favorite is, to close myself in my bedroom and put the music as highest as it can, but i don't think that the things that i do are really good the best thing is to ask for help:)

ReplyDeleteI used to feel stressful because of the heavy homework but now I feel very easy in the school. Maybe now I think about everything in an easy way. Like homework or quizzes, they are really not big deals. Of course, everyone has different stress, it just depends on how you deal with it. Talking to friends is a good way. There are also some physical ways. Prepare a cold towel and put it on your face then u will feel better. Or this way, close your eyes, think about all the beautiful views u have ever seen. Thinking of the flying flowers, flouting clouds, and raining forests, don't you feel relaxed? And, the best way i know is... getting rid of the desire and do everything patiently but perfectly then u can say bye-bye to stress la..
I used to feel very stressful at school several times. But not anymore. In fact, every student need to balance their life between studying and playing. Student don't need to study all the time, and this is the easiest way to cause stressful. But they can't play all the time since it will affect to their studying. Sports, friends, activities are three simple thing to avoid stress during student life. You can play sports after school to relax a whole tired day of studying. Playing sports is the same thing of playing games if some students don't want to addicted in it. besides, you can talk, hang out with your friends to eliminate stress. This factor is also helpful. May be sharing with your friend your story in class, in school can help you feel better in some how. Finally, activities can be the best way to relax and experience more for your knowledge. Participating in activities will make you feel very comfortable. Student life is not only about studying, it's about hanging out, make friends, participate in activities, playing sports. And remember, studying is only a factor in your student life.
ReplyDeleteStress does not bother me too much now. Since in China, we always got a lot of homework and tests, I can handle the study life here without too much effort. Even in China, I was not under too much pressure, I always hang out with my classmates and joke around. It helped to release the stress. Living without any pressure is impossible, I think it can help us on our lives from getting too comfortable. If we do not study or work at all, there will not be any pressure around us. Yet we have to do these things. In reality, light pressure can keep us focus and do the best job we can. Like without the air pressure, people would explode. It is a game of balance, only the losers try to keep themselves away from all the pressure by having drugs or something. We should turn the stress into motivation in our lives.
ReplyDeleteStraight A's students are not born to have the talent without any efforts. Once I wondered why we came to US for study, I was mightily confused and exhausted. Stress by the parents who live one thousand miles away, self-conceited emotion, and strange comparison made me sick. However, I tried to chat candidly with my mom about that. Surprisingly, she encouraged me a lot and persuade me with giving up the former wrong thoughts, which she gave me. I like running away from reality so she let me be easy and do the things just I like. As far as I am concerned, I can think of a little but seemingly workable solution, which is to take a long shower. You would find the interesting things would happen!

Because I think stady and have fun are equal.When I in China,my teacher told us when stady time just wark hard.When the play time play hard.Maybe you can try to sleep.It is a good idear becaus it will relax your Brain and good for your memory. In China every afternoon we have two hours for take relax. It is good for your stady in afternoon.However we need face our stress.
ReplyDeleteStress is root in our mind. I know I have a lot of homework tonight, I'll be stressed out, because I don't want to stay up too late. I have a quiz tomorrow, I'll be stressed out, because I hope to get good grades. I think the best way to relief my stress is having a well balanced emotion, and stay calm. If I am stressed I will play some video games or play sports to divert attention from troubles. When I get confused about some troubles, I will be worried and upset, at this time It's hard for me too stay calm, so play something relaxing is helpful.Don't force yourself to concentrate on something gives you stress. Try to adjust your mentality and distribute your job. These are importances to be a stress-free student, and get better grades.
ReplyDeleteActually, we will face the stress from different kinds of problems.Once i was studying in China,i was really stressed out. I had tons of homework and quizes to do. So, i have some suggestions to share in order to figure out the stress.At first, i think playing some games is a good way, because it will makes you relax, and you can release the stress in the game. Second, playing sports is also great idea. On the one hand, playing sports can exercise your physique. On the other hand, it also can release your stress. Third, i think having a trip with your friends is a pretty awesome choice.You will laugh a lot during the trip. This will reduce your pressure. In China, we said the more you laugh once, the longer you live.Also, you can remain your footprints all over the world.This is a great thing, isn't it ? Anyway, we can not escape from stress. But we should face the stress in the right way!

ReplyDeleteObviously, most of students at school feel stressed out sometimes. There are couple of reasons. first, they may have a lot of homework or project to do. for this, i think you have to go out have a deep breathe, and enjoy the sunshine for a while. second, some students may be worry about their quiz or test. in my opinion, it is better to exercise instead of sitting review in the room until you get exhausted. last, some students may feel stressed out by bad relationship with friends, boyfriend or girlfriend at school. for this particular reason i think you ought to say it loud to someone.
ReplyDeleteSurely most of the students in school suffer with stress especially boarding students. There are many different reasons for that. For example, exams, friends which you might not have, teachers, for international students it’s distance. There are million of reasons for a student to be stressful. All tips that I know are listed above and I don’t see any reason to repeat them. I can say only one thing, stay focused on something, it doesn’t matter what, it can be school, a book, a hobby etc. When you are focused and you think that this focusing is more important and interesting than everything else you will be fine. For example, I draw every time I feel board, stressful, upset, happy, doesn’t matter which mood I have I love to draw and when I’m lost in my own colorful world I don’t care about anything and it helps. Create your own world and sink in there every time you are tired from reality.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I don't feel stressed at all by school, except if there is a quiz or I know the scores on my last quiz. I think this school is very relaxed. In my last school in China, I had to get up so early and come back home at 9 o'clock at night. That made me stressed. In my opinion, the best way to cope with stress is to imagine school's fun. I can know somebody interesting in school, or I want to figure out if Lona has been playing tricks on her locker. Anyway, if you think school is fun then it is, and vice versa. If you are stressed by a quiz like me, just face it. Life won't be fiat, so, face the trouble that is part of growing up.

ReplyDeleteIf you tired and you can't do it any more you should go outside for walk or you can to play with your friends because you need rest.
I stressed out every day because i have to do applications for my colleges or i have a lot of homework to do and it is really not so much time for it. Sometimes i am going to play with my friends but most i like to go to sleep for a little bit. When i am sleeping my stress is gone. Sleep is good thing for a people who stressed out. Sometimes i am watching movies for relax.
We always have this problem in China. I have a greater pressure when I was in China.if that happen, I will do anything I love instead of study. For example, I love anime, so I will watch it. And most of the time I felt relaxed. However, sometimes we don't have much time to allow us do anything else, so we didn't have chance to relax. Everything we could do is talk to parents or call your friend when you were eating dinner or go back to the home after school. It's a good way too. And now in America, you can also talk with your teacher. I was afried to my teacher in China, but all the teachers in TA are so nice. Sometimes I talk with teacher when I feel a lot of pressure on her subject. And I believe everyone will listen to you and help you.
ReplyDeletei think a easy way to free our stress is try to make yourself be happy. everyday whatever class you took or whatever bad-luck things you did, the all you have to do is be happy, i think this is not too hard to do. like you dont have to care about something that can not effect you. after school, i will hang out with my friends, go watch the beautiful weather, the sky is blue, and the river always clean. that make me feel like this world still has a lot of pretty things i have to done but i never heard about that. i like playing video because it can relax me in a short time, i can join the game and forget about everything. so, be happy is the most easy way to make our life at school be stress-free.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I will feel stress on my school work, but mostly, I feel stress from the out school work, like SAT test or college applications. Parents always want their children go to better college, so I feel heavy power from my parents. For me, sometime I feel sad from the school work, parents, and life always push many problems to me. I will try my best, but sometimes I will relax. For example, get shopping with friends, and FaceTime with my family when I have a homesick. Sometime, I like to see some movies and put myself in another world, forget all the bad things in the real life. Also, students should doing some sports and feel the beautiful weather sometimes. Getting enough sleep also is important, we should have enough vigor to go to school. I hope I can spend a good time in TA and both study hard and relax, make the life easy!
ReplyDeleteFive days a week, piles of homework, and all kind of extremely tests. The school is nightmare for many of students. Sometimes, we could be overwhelmed by the pressure from school. Let's talk about some ways to refrain feeling stressed out. We can just study quiz before one day before the quiz. Therefore, plan your schedule for each day of you. List all the subjects u need to study per day. Otherwise, Save sometime for you do relax or do what you like to do. like play an instrument, read a book or manga. After five days school we have a weekend. It doesn't come for nothing. Just hang out with your friends and forget all your troubles. It's actually a good way to liberate yourselves.
ReplyDeleteFor my part, when I feel stress I have many ideas to solve that. Playing sports is considered as a wonderful approach to lifting me out of high pressure. I love to play basketball with my friend in my leisure time. That makes me relax. And reading is another method to lighten my burden. Every time I get reading book, I can clam down, relax nervous and refresh my soul. Listening music is a shared recommendation. For me, I will listen light music or rock. They can clam me down or cheer me up.
ReplyDeleteI feel very stressed at school,we need to do the best. there are 4 classes for everyday, and 80 mins for one class, it is a little bit long. And we need to focus. Sometimes feel stress. But, I love to play basketball and hang out with my friends, I can forget everything which something are bad when I play basketball. Playing basketball need more physical strength, but very relaxed. And I talking with my best friends, we always talk about somethings are funny, we also talk about our study pressure. I think it is a good way to get relaxed, sometimes my friends give me advise, I think it will be fun. You will have a good mood in your study time.

When I feel stress I always facetime with my friends but we'll ever talk about our grades, we just talk about things happened in school today. In china if I feel stress,I can hangout whit my friends and have some drinks, but we can't do that in american.that's good for us because we can choose healthy way to face this problem.Such as play some sports,go find a girlfriend. it might be helpful. However,we still have to work hard in school.
ReplyDeleteEveryone gets stressed at school as long as they are people. Sometimes I feel like I want destroy everything, because I get so mad with my homework or grades. Those years I found some good ways to release, such as listen to music, play sports or sleep. Listening music can really relax ourselves, because our mood will change with the songs. Playing sports can move our attention, after we put energy on the sport, we will forget the other things. Sleeping is the best way, I sometimes sleep 12 hours at weekends. They all have the same idea which is move attention, just throw everything away when you get stressed. Enjoy the life!
ReplyDeleteEveryone will get lots of stresses in their life. Especially in the school life. In TA, we have 4 classes everyday, every class has 75 minutes. It's longer than the class in China. But the class over at 2:00. So we have whole afternoon can find something to relieve our pressure. So usually, I have two choices. First, I'll back home to change another suit of clothes which is comfortable. Then, I will watch a movie or play some computer games for a hour. Finally, go to bed to have some rest. But it also makes me can not go to bed early in the evening.== Another choice that is hang out with friends to take some food. We usually go to China House or Starbucks. Because these places all will make me feel relax. We can sit in the warm room and talk about the things that happens in the school. It will also improve the relationship between my friends with me. These methods both can help me to release my stresses. So I'm feel happy now!

You also can play some sports like basketball, soccer, or any sports you like. Sleeping is a good way for me, during the weekend I always sleep 10 more hours.The spring is coming, you also can go out have a deep breathe and go to beach enjoy the sunshine for a while. ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel stressed out by school. it happens to me when I get bad grades. After that my grades goes down. I don't want my parents to be frustrated. To avoid stress I do sports in TA. This year I swim and go to the gym. This helps me to forget about stress for a few hours. I also talk to my friends from Russia on Skype. Also if you want to avoid the stress, you should go for a walk with friends. You can also watch movies to forget about stress.

ReplyDeleteI think everyone will feel pressure at school. The pressure comes from the assignments, quizzes and tests. The Student Union worried that she could not complete homework or exams that were smashed. This will make the students feel tense and irritable and thus it becomes more reluctant for students to learn. I think the verbal communication is the biggest pressure for international students. And I think if students want to overcome this problem, they must communicate with others frequently, be sure to ask when they meet something they do not understand. If students feel very stressful, they can do sports. Besides, they can listen to music while running. I believe these are some good method to help them out of stress.
ReplyDeleteI think every students will feel stress at school, those stresses may come from different things, bad grades, a lot of homework, the relationship with friends, these questions are always around us and make us feel pressure, however I think have a little bit stress is a good thing, it can let us concentrate on studying, but too much pressure will make us tired and depressed. The best way for me to relax is reading books it is a good way to come down in a short time.
ReplyDeleteI have usually felt stressed since I got in high school. I know that I have to never stop improving my grades because it is a very big deal for my college. I want to relax myself, but I afraid that I will lose some points in my subjects. However, I still have come up with some ideas to eliminate stress. At first, I will play computer game with my friends sometimes. It can divert my mind. Secondly, I can play tennis or billiards to avoid stress. Thirdly, watching movies is also a good way to cope stress. All in all, as a student, we should work hard. But at the same time, we should also learn how to relax ourselves.

ReplyDeleteI felt stressed in many times. For me, there are some solutions for stressing. For example, when I am plain soccer, I can concentrate to it and I can forget everything else. Then I love to listen music. It makes me comfortable, to forget problems. Sometimes, I miss my country. When I talk my friends from my country, I can forget problems too. I am glad that I don't have big problem beside missing my country. If I stress for something I am pretty sure that I can do something and forget problems.

ReplyDeleteI always feel stress for school. When I do homework and review the book for tests, I often feel stress. At that time, I always lisen to music and drink some ice tea to make my mind relax. The music I chose always be rock and piano music, which can make me clam down. And I need to say, Sleep is the best way to relax for me. I usually sleep for half day at the weekend. The time that I get up in the weekend is 1.00PM. These time makes me better.
ReplyDeleteAn accessible way to eliminate stress is to devote myself absolutely into my learning as well as to be extremely concentrated on the part what I am studying, then I can hardly feel any stress. To alleviate the pain of studying, there is another way, that's it, practicing to be adept at the skill solving problems. My adroit handing of the complex problems always pleased everyone, and provide me with time of entertaining.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I really get stressed. I get stressed from homework, classwork and classmates. But I don't think it does matter. When I get stressed, I always find something to do to take off the pressure. And tell myself to concentrate on something else so I can handle that feeling. And actually, I do.
ReplyDeleteSchool really stressed me out sometime, I almost give up myself. But there is always some good ways to cheer me up. For example, I always try my best to enjoy my holiday, I'll travel to some beautiful places and enjoy the vacation. If the vacation is long, I will go back home and really have fun in my hometown and meet with friends or eat some delicious food. I have to say vacations are really important for student, because that's the sources give me hope. But we still need to face a reality that once you finish your study, work career will be even harder, you will work all the time, and the vacation is much more shorter and less. So, let's just cherish our study time.

ReplyDeleteWhen a student feel stressed in school, it is not really about the homeworks, exams or something like those. The pressures are coming from the other students. When students compare their acadamics to others and find out that they are not as good as others', they may feel pressure. They also will feel stressed when teachers and parents give high exception on students. Loss of appetite, irritability, unreasonable anger, difficulty sleeping, emotional outbursts, fatigue, isolation and withdrawal are the premonitions of stress.
ReplyDeleteYou cannot totally cope with, avoid, or eliminate stress, since human being are emotional. But there are still mutliple ways to reduce the negative effect from stress and pressure.
Calm down: chances are by the time students come to talk to teachers and parents, they are in a bit of an emotional mess, especially the first time. Tell students to take a moment to just breathe deeply (it will automatically calm their bodies) and then get them to concentrate on facts and logic instead of emotions – it usually paints a more positive picture.
Beproactive: Students' excessive worrying won’t change anything. Encourage them to use that energy to figure out what steps they can take to fix the situation or minimize the damage – there’s almost always something that can be done, and when there isn’t, they have to learn their lesson and move on.
Keep things in prespective: Students often feel as if their entire lives hang in the balance of whatever is stressing them. Remind them to take a step back and look at the big picture – the problem will seem small and inconsequential in comparison to the many years ahead of them.
No comparision: Students are unique, never compare them. They may not be good at acadamic, but they have their special skill. Be wise, don't try to compare youself to anyone else, you are you!
Sometimes I really get stressed. I get stressed from homework, classwork and classmates. But I don't think it does matter. When I get stressed, I always find something to do to take off the pressure. Playing the piano or other instruments, thinking about the people I love. Just no think about the work or the people I'm stressed on. And tell myself to concentrate on something else so I can handle that feeling. And actually, I do.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, every week just have 7 days and we need pay 5 days in school and doing a lot of homework or some hard quiz, it will kill my brain cells. But in school without your study, half of your would is in here, love or friend. Facts prove, when children in school they want vacation but if their have the long vacation the student will miss their school's life. So in my opinion, if you sometimes feel bored, call your friend or just you, go shopping, go reading or playing it can make you feel relax.
