Journal Question #5
Nature had a trick for all of us this Halloween - a snowstorm! This is very unusual for late October, even in northern New England. It was a pretty bad trick for lots of people - as I write this, there are still many homes in New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts without power. Anyway, for this journal, write about Halloween, snow, unexpected weather. Are you getting into a costume or did you wear a costume for Halloween? What do you think of this holiday?

this Halloween. But there are many people wear their favorite costumes to the Halloween party. The snow is very wonderful and
nice. In my city, there is a big snow just each four or five years.
And the our city didn't happen a snowstorm. So my holiday is not
very good, I just go outside to play the snow and takes photos
in the snow. I hope in the new Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts,the homeless people can give some helps from
other rich people, I also hope the poor can eat full just on Thanksgiving Day. They can eat enough all the year. In the end,
I hope we can have a nice Halloween on next year!!
Halloween is a great holiday.Although i was in USA last year, it is my first Halloween party in my life. Everyone wears costume, i think it is the part of American culture.Unfortunately i did not buy a costume for myself, but next year i think i absolutely will buy one. I really like the atmosphere during the Halloween, in China i did not see people do the thing like this.It makes feel like a huge party around the USA. Anyway, I like it and enjoy it.

ReplyDeleteWhen my dorm parents asked me: "Where are your Halloween dresses? " I screamed: "Oh no! I forget it! "
As for the snow......Bad weather? I don't think so. It's very beautiful and soft and it's the first time for me to see so many snow in the present.
Boys and girls who joined the Dorm Halloween party took many photos with snow outdoor, although they wear very less. Especially Yuke, she only wear a short and thin dress without sleeves! She is very brave. I think she loves snow very much. Her name, Yuke, means "snow" in Japanese. (The correct writing is 'Yuki' )
In fact, it's my first time, really, to spend Halloween holiday. In my family, we never spend foreign holiday. It's interesting and exciting for me, although I didn't stay at the party all the time.
We had an Halloween party in the dorm. But for me, it's kind of boring. I hate noisy music. It was a better choice to play outside with snow than stay inside and bear the noise. During the Halloween, we have some decorations in the dorm. Those stuffs are cool. Halloween isn't a special holiday for me and the weekend was just a normal weekend. I didn't wear costume, but some people did. Because of the snow, I had a good time during the party time. Somebody tried to make snowman. It was a lot of fun . Because I had no chance to make snowman before. It's a new thing and a special experience for me. The weather might be bad to the government but not to me. Snow is beautiful. And I love it.
ReplyDeleteWe have a party in the dorm. though it is snowstorm everybody still go to the party. a lot of people had dress up customs to the people. we have a great party, a wonderful night. while snowing , some people have a snow flight, some people use snow to do a snowman. i think it is a lot of fun! in my city, it is not snow too much in the winter, so i am very interesting at snow. hope New England area have power as soon as possible. hope everyone have a great winter, enjoy the snow!
ReplyDeleteOMG!I love halloween.I wore a customs and had a really really good time,there are many people said i was awesome and my dress up and make up were really scared people,and I was so happy at that moment.We also had a dorm halloween party too,there are many people dressed up and made up,and it was cool and funny.We danced and played lots of game during the dorm party,and we had a lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteI like snow,but this is so unusual that the snow start for late October and it's super cold.I honestly do not really like cold weather.I just like snow and the sports during the snowing day.
Halloween is not very famous in China , so this is the first time I have the halloween holiday , I think it is really very funny . But I didn't go to the halloween party in the dorm , I stay at home with my homestay family . In my family , we don't have foreign holiday , sometimes I have a Christmas party with my friends .In fact , before I come to US , I even didn't what time halloween is. But I had lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteIn Shanghai which city I live in China , it's very unusual for snow , this weekend I had seen the biggest snow since I born . I like snow. It's too beautiful . My homestay mother told me, it just was light snow . But for me it's enough.
I have never seen snow in october before I came here.I had thought there would be a lot of snow here,but I never thought it would come such early.Although I really love snow,there was the most terrible thing--we lost power in New Hampshire last weekend because of the snow!While I was looking at the computer,there was a flash of the light over my head.At the same time,a blue and dazzling light appeared outside.After that, there was no Internet at all.And then we spent the whole day without Internet and power.We even played cards by candlelight in the evening.
ReplyDeleteIn China, people will not do any interesting things in Halloween.So I thought it would be a lot of fun in this Halloween.I made a pumpkin with my roommate before Halloween.Although I missed the Halloween Party,I spent good time at the Halloween night.We gave candies to the kids and had a lot of fun.I really enjoyed it.
This is the first time that i have my halloween in U.S , i think it was so cool, because everyone dressed up in different ways, people in US are much more creative then people in my country. But i think the rare thing was it was snowing during the halloween, i have never seen place get snow in october.Although it was so cold, still i think we had lots of fun at that time.it was so beautiful, everything were white, cover by the snow, i will never forget that moment.
ReplyDeleteCompare with my country, in halloween, i used to stay at my home and being normal. However when i had my first halloween in US, I can feel that people are enjoy this day, they put a lot of decoration around the place and dress up in different style. Also this halloween set off with the snow, it made the whole atmosphere to be more gorgeous. Although i didn't wear any costume, but i still enjoyed the halloween and how the others dressed up.
ReplyDeleteHalloween! A special day for monsters! I have celebrated this holiday since i was in the primary school. I still remembered at that time, our teachers gave us candies and so many delicious snacks. I don't like sweet food like candies especially milk chocolate candy, but 75% or higher dark chocolates are work for me. A little bit bitter sometimes taste better. Anyway, the today before Halloween was a really bad day for my whole homestay family. We don't have power since 1am-6pm. Inside of the house was freezing.. So cold. No internet, no light, no power, no cooking, no fun! But we are so lucky we finally have power at end of the day. Halloween is very traditional for American, my homestay parents's grandchildren were all dressed up and they all went out ask for candies from each houses. People are really kind and they all received many candies, but i didn't go with them at that moment. I decided stay at home and gave candies to the small children. I gave so many candies to them i guess almost more than 100? I didn't count that, i felt happiness at that time, everyone are really nice and kind, we are blessing each others. Children are look great! Their clothes are so funny and cute, but some of the clothes are make me feel frighten. I don't like horror movies and scary things, so that makes me felt so so so scary.
ReplyDeleteBut anyway Halloween is fun, and really interesting. I love to watch children are go to each doors and ask for candies, that makes me feel so good! Although, the weather was not very nice but we get better in next few days. Sunny is coming this weekend will be warm and fantastic!
This Halloween for me was unlucky.Not only I was scared by those kids again and again,but also I could't go to Halloween party because of my ankle ache. Anyway,the festival was nice.About on Thursday,it was began to snow,very very heavy snow,well not very for location,but for me,a person who comes from southeast part of China.In my hometown,it's hardly snow.The only activity I participate was the spook house trip before I injured my ankle.A little scared,and big big cold.
ReplyDeleteThis Halloween is very cold and unexpected.Nobody thought it's gonna be a storm at Halloween.We wish we could have a nice and warm Halloween.This freaking cold Halloween breaks my wonderful plans for Halloween.It's too cold to get dressed for Halloween.I just fall back to sleep.I wished I can go,but there's no way to go outside and standing in the freaking cold weather.....
ReplyDeleteThis Halloween was very funny.Everyone wore custom ,it's so cute.However I didn't wear it because I have no time to buy it,I'm upset about that.I think this Halloween was the most special Halloween because of the weather.When we enjoyed the party,it was snowing.The view is so beautiful.We had a snowball fight and took lots of picture.It's proud for me to make a snowman by myself.

It is normal that snow in late october in the city i used to live so I didn't feel it's unusual. I'm waiting for next halloween and I hope it will be interesting!
ReplyDeleteHorrible thing!I never experience such a big snow.So it's very funny for me.I'm not scared.I even played sonwball fight with my roommate on that day.I can't believe the snowstorm brings too many disasters!Even worse the snowstorm happened during Halloween.People can't celebrate happily because of the too bad weather.In fact,this is my first time to celebrate Halloween.I am so luck.The rare snowstorm happened during my first time!In this Halloween,I really had a good time.Even though I didn't wear any costumes.I saw a lot of people who only appeared into movies.Halloween's very funny,isn't it?

ReplyDeleteIn China, people do not really care about Halloween and I can say not many people knows about Halloween. In my memory, Halloween is always so frightening. People dressed up like monster, vampire and zombie. But to my surprise, after that night, I know that halloween is most coolest festival I have ever seen.
Also, we have our first snow at that day, people running outside the drom and throwing snowball at each other.
This is the most unforgettable day after I came to TA. I can not wait for the next Halloween!!

ReplyDeleteThis is my first Halloween in America,I had a very nice experience.Halloween in America is different from China.In America,people always stay at home and watch TV,play computer,just like other normal day.In America,most people go to the scary house and wear customs and join the Halloween party.This year is my first year in America,I had a very unforgettable experience.We had a party in dorm,and I wore a mask to join the Halloween party.The party was very funny,we had fun in this party.I won't forget my first Halloween,and I can't wait for next Halloween!

Two weeks ago i was celebrating Halloween.I didn't have a costume for Halloween because i don't like a costume.a lot of people had costume and they are looking beautiful.One guy had costume and he looks like Stalin.I and My sister were going house by house and we were trick and treating. All people had many candies.
I think Halloween is so fun for people who live in America.And i want have Halloween next year and i want have Halloween in Russia. I think a lot of people in Russia will have fun because it is first time.We never did have this.
The "Halloween" has been very good, have very good party, and there is food. Also in the cold snow day, we still very happy carnival together, and I'd be glad to.
ReplyDeleteHello! My name is Alexey. In Russia we don't celebrate Halloween. In the day before Halloween I was exited to see what and how people do it because I was unaware about this holiday. Unfortunately, it was a snowstorm. I think it was a bad trick for a lot of people because many houses were without power. It was my first experience and in my opinion it was great a great day and I will never forget this holiday. My aunt, brother, my sister and I went trick and treating but I did not wear a custom because I do not like it. I saw a lot people who were getting different customs.Before Halloween I thought this holiday is for children but I was amazed because even students and some adults went trick and treating. People who gave candies were very polite and kind. I also saw children who did not dress up and some people refused give them candies because if you don't have a custom you will not get candies or toys. I saw a great festival and it was funny. People, who earn a great deal of money prepared their houses very well for Halloween. We also had a great dinner. Halloween is fun, and really interesting. Although, the weather was not very nice but I think people had a great day. In conclusion I want to say that I learned a lot of things about this american holiday and I always will remember this day.

As a student from Shanghai, I have seldom seen the big snow before. I know that the New England area has big snow every year, but I never expect that I can see so big snow at Halloween. It is also a surprise for me so far. By the way, it is my first time to enjoy myself at Halloween. I used to think that Halloween is a festival that its theme is terror and gloomy.But I know I’m wrong after the costume even I haven’t wear a costume.During the October , the big snow is the most impressive thing for me ,it is enjoyable to see the scene that full of the white color. I love the serene atmosphere when the snow fell down the ground, it is like that I am the only one at that time , it is very comfortable and impressive . I will never forget this time , and I am looking forward the next snow.
ReplyDeleteHalloween is a wonderful holiday in America, especially for children. People in our dorm wear costume to go to the party dancing and playing games, that was a great time. There was a very heavy snow during Halloween, that was my first time to watch the snow, it was very beautiful and amazing!!! I like snow, it seem that I lived in a fantasy world, if I had a girlfriend, I would dance with her in the snow, that's pretty happy. There is no Halloween in China, but we sometime decorate our classrooms in Halloween, I wish I have a Halloween party in China with my friends in a day.

In china, there are still some young people will celebrate the Halloween, they will also wear some wired clothes to speed this Western festival. Lsat year, when I was in LA, my uncle took me to a parade, which was fraught with people with different and interesting clothes. This year I didn't wear any costume, but we had the first snow! This is super surprising!! We don't have snow in my city, and also LA, so this could be a big surprise for me.

Because in my hometown, I never can see a so beautiful snow, and especially in Halloween Holiday. In the night, our dorm hold a Halloween party. I took pictures with people who costumed. ReplyDeleteOn October 31, every children was very exciting, because on Halloween they can get so much candy. I acted Super Morio. I went to neighborhood's house and asked for candy with my homestay family. We knock the door and say “trick-or-treat”to get candy. We knock the door one by one. I felt very happy. It don’t just because of I got 130 candy. The most important reason is I have knew American culture.

On Halloween,everyone had a good time then.In China, no one celebrates Halloween, but in U.S here, we have had a big celebration for Halloween.We had a dance party and we had a great time. We had different snacks there in the girl's dorm.I was so excited about that.On the Halloween this year, it snowed. So we had a more excited time together.There were several children came and said "trick or treat"for candy.They were so cute.I love Halloween and I love the ways that Americans celebrate that famous festival.

As a child, the happiest thing is get lots of candy in halloween, but I think I am too old to ask candy to other adults. The most wonderful thing is the early snow this halloween, I have never seen such early snow in beijing. I won’t forget this halloween holiday forever.
ReplyDeleteHalloween is a very interesting day in America. all the people dressed up their Halloween custom during that day. The surprise for me was i saw most of them wore the funny custom rather than wore the scared custom. For me, i was wore a custom look like woody- a cowboy, that was very funny. We have the Halloween party in the girls dorm, there was very interesting. People who dressed up the custom and dancing in the dorm. Furthermore, that was a snowstorm in Halloween day. I was so excited because that was my first time to see snowing. The snow cover over all the ground. The whole area became white.How the nice day. Unfortunately, most of the family lost power cause the snowstorm. I hope they are fine now. Definitely, that was my unforgettable in my life.
ReplyDeleteI like Halloween ! It is because everyone will dress up themselves and there are lots to food to eat . I had decorated my room by many skeleton! On the other hand , the snow was very amazing . I had never seen snow before because my home Hong Kong is in the southern part of China . I did lots of activities with my friends at that snowing day . For example , we played 'snow war' and took a photo outside our dorm without wearing our clothes ! It was really fun and cold . ReplyDeleteI am sorry that I am late for this journal, because my computer didn't work until now. Though Halloween has passed for a long time, it was still a unforgettable memory for me. Actually, Halloween is my birthday, everybody gave me a surprise for me. Dorm also had a big party and everyone wore different costumes, it was very novel. I costumed as a ghost. The most incredible thing that it was snowing during the Halloween! I was so happy that the first snow I saw in Saco was in that night. I did snowball fight with my friends in front of the dorm. That week was my important memory in my life.

About my Halloween，I dressed up as a crazy man in prison and Yuke dressed up as a turnkey. We joined the party with a lot of food and dancer. I have been participating in Halloween party in china and I felt very boring. During the Halloween it was snowy and make this Halloween more interesting! I love this Halloween!

ReplyDeleteOmg I seriously don't know what i can write about Halloween but i think sometimes it sounds funny for me because we have a Halloween on slovakia but we don't care about it like american people. So it was my first Halloween here and i saw how people really like it. Young kids and old kids like it too. The were probably everywhere and people in their house gave him candy. I wasn't go out cause i'm not american so it's not tradition for me but i like it too. When i was young i like it som much because i watched a lot of americans movies so i saw ho is Halloween special and i was excited when i can wear a Halloween costume. This is mi opinion about Halloween :)
