The journal topic is Homework. All students have homework, and all students have an opinion on homework. Tell me - honestly - what you think of homework. Is it necessary? How much is the "right" amount of homework? Should some classes have more HW than others? Should there be no HW at all? How many hours of HW, in general, do you have every night? Is it the right amount for you? Too much? Not enough?

A quick explanation of the cartoon: one excuse students used to give for not doing their HW was, "My dog ate my homework!" So, here the cartoonist is making fun of that excuse by drawing a classroom of dogs - all of whom, the teacher thinks - will say they ate their HW.
ReplyDeleteHaha,that picture is really funny.But in china,we donn't say:"My dog ate my homework!"when we forgot our homework,we also say:"There are too many homework yesterday and i am very tired so i didn't do my homework."
ReplyDeleteHonestly,I think homework is really necessary it can help us to review what we learned today.I think the homework here is few I always spent one hour to finish my homework.In china,we have plenty of homework it always spent you a lot of time to finish and it also really hard.In my opinion,I think we should have more homework I think it can training ourselves and help us remember the point better.
At last,I think doing our homework is our responsible so we should do our homework everyday and give it to teacher on time.
I think homework is necessary. All students have homework, me too. No student likes homework, me too. But I think it can help me learn knowledge more quick. And when I learn some things, I want more practices, they make me know hou to use the thing which I learn. The homework can do it. So I need homework.
ReplyDeleteThe most important thing is the amount of homework. In China, I always have too much HW. Sometimes, it takes me about 4 to 6 hours to doing it every day. And the teacher also think it's too less for us.
I remember in a holiday , the holiday just has three days, but we should spend more than 50 hours on doing HW. My friend told me she would tell teachers the typhoon had been her home, and it went out with her homework.
Now, I think the homework is the right amount for me, maybe it is not enough. I feel good.
As for me,finishing homework is not an amused process but I still think that it's necessary.For many people,they can't insist to do things by themselves and they need somebody to force them to do things.Homework help us to review things which we have studied.But I don't think it's necessary to have a lot of homework that you don't need to repeat the same thing for a lot of time. And you are wasting your time.Some class do have more homework than other subject,but I think the reason is these subjects are more important or we need more time to know well the knowledge.How many hours do I spend on homework depends on the amount.As for me,I prefer to have more free time that I can arrange time by myself and do something that I think I need to do.No one can know yourself better than you!

amount of the HW ,because if all students have the same amount

lose in the class.So I think the HW is not necessary for us.Thus
we can have more time doing some things,for example, we can

That picture are really fun! in china i used to have lots of homework, i went to school before 7am,finish school at 9 pm , Also when i come back to home, i still have 3more hours homework to do! that was crazy. in America, i feel better, though still need to do 2hours homework , i finish school at 2pm, so i have enough time to do it . in my opinion, i think homework are necessary, but not too much, because i think when we understand one question we don't need to do this type of question anymore.that's waste time.

That picture is really fun.In China,people think homework is necessary and they also think more homework is good for our study.So many teachers give students much homework，we usually do our homework for 4 or 5 hours.And many parents think we should do some other homework,so they give us some other homework,and then we have too much pressure，so we start to hate study.I don't think that's right,as a student,I think do homework is necessary,we shouldn't hate homework,homework can help us to remember what we study and help us study better.I always do my homework and give to the teacher on time.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I think HW is necessary for us.But I don't approve of too much homework.If the teacher give us too much HW we will think is so boring and not interested in doing HW. In China everyday we have too much HW and we should take 3 or 4 hours to do our HW.If we didn't do HW we will tell teacher "I'm so tired that I didn't do my homework".But now in TA I think the HW is reasonable and I will take 1 or 2 hours to finish it, and it can help us to review what we learned today. In a word,we need reasonable HW!!!

ReplyDeleteIn China, is very different from US, schools think more homework is, better result students can get. And they also have their reasons about the strength of much homework(and more difficult).
I think lessons like math and physics need more homework, they are more difficult to remember and study.
I don't have homework every night, sometimes I can finish them on study hall or the rest time of classes.
As for me, the amount of homework is not the most important part of education. Different ways suit different people. Maybe some people think American educational system is better to face the troubles in the future, but some people think Chinese educational ways can let students do something very fast and good. So i think the strong point of education is student's attitude.
Homework is necessary.In my opinion,different courses need different amount of homework.For example,Math,physics and chemistry,I need do lots of homework to remember something important.When I can't understand something,do more homework can help me to understand.I spend 2 hours in doing homework everyday.It's fine,I feel comfortable.If we don't have homework,maybe we won't get good grades on it.HW is a good way to improve the grades
ReplyDeleteHomework should be very necessary to every student, which will help them a lot to review what they have learned already. For each subject, including the review, I think we should only spend 30 to 60 minutes on it as well, too much homework will make kids feel stress out. Here is the condition that most Chinese students meet before, the teacher will tell you that the more homework you do, the better grades you will get, so a lot of students stay up to finish their homework, some students will even give themselves extra practice. Some subjects which are really important, they could have more homework than other subjects, but the teacher should consider more for students and control the amount of that.

ReplyDeleteWell... Happy Monday!! No school! But I have a lot of homework... So many assignments!! Is homework necessary? Absolutely yes, but i don't like it. Homework is necessary. What is the basic meaning of homework? The simplest explanation is do some practices at home about the lessons you learned from school. As we know practice makes us better. More practice can make a huge improvement for us.What make Human's technologies developing? The answer is really simple and easy, more practice! Do more tests can make the information more accurate. So as a student we have to have homework. But I suggest some teachers please control your homework amount. We don't like to get so much homework from one teacher. Homework is necessary and really help us. But too much will push it to the dark side.
ReplyDeletePersonally i think, a student should do more outdoor activities and try our best to find more subjects we are interested in studying or doing. If a student learn sth he like, the reaction from the exam will show us he did a really good job! But if he learn sth he really hit it, the reaction from the quiz will show us he did not so well. To balance a student do well in school or not, i think the best way to check out is that student's attitude on his homework. He really try it? He really focus on it? That's the important part of homework. To let student try sth new. Try sth he learned from school today. Sometime 3~5 problems can show us a student's attitude. So that means we don't have to give a student a lot of homework, just let our homework covered everything we learned from school today or in this week. If a student's attitude is right, he prefer to do it any amount of homework he will try his best to have it done. But if he hit it he might be just copy others answer or just give up.

ReplyDeleteI am a junior this year, I think the homework that teacher give me everyday is the right amont. If we focus on our homework during the study hour, we should be able to finish them.
No one get a high score without the practice and hard working. So that homework is one of the important way to getting a high score. A lot of subject such as English and Maths, we need to practice everyday in order to get a high score.
How can we improve our grade without doing our homework?

ReplyDeleteOh my god. How can you americans have such a little homework!!! We gonna crazy everyday because of the home work in China. we finish school at 9 pm and don't sleep until 12 am doing our homework!!! It is necessary to do some homework to review what we learn everyday but not to much. If there are too much home work we will feel boring to study and lose the interest. That will make opposite influence. I think the best amount of HM is that can be finished within 2 hours for all subjects. or we will have no time to do other activities or sports.

ReplyDeleteAs for me , I think the proper homework is necessary, it can help us to prepare our test better.The amount of the homework is hard to grasp. I think spend about 30 minutes on each subject is enough. In addition, every subject is equal , no one is more important than others in my mind.In a word , homework is a way to help us to study , but the amount is important to grasp to the teachers, students shouldn’t conflict it ,and one thing is important-- more never equal better
In my opinion,Homework is very useful for us.Because the person's memory is limited,we must review the knowledge which we study during the class.And to do the homework is the best way to review.Doing homework is a big chance to learn something new.So we shouldn't find any excuse to indisguise we don't do our homework.So I will do my homework with staidness .
ReplyDeleteWell...In my opinion, homework is necessary to students. Doing homework can help us to review the knowledge we learnt during the class today or yesterday. And it can also help us to find our weaknesses and improve them in time. But honestly, I don't really like doing homework. Actually, I think no student likes doing homework. As everyone knows, in China, every student in high school has a lot of homework every night. But since I came here, I found out I spend more time to figure out and to think how to express. Every good grade can't without hardworking, but it doesn't mean more homework must be more helpful. Quality is the most important thing.
ReplyDeleteI think homework is very necessary to every students.Homework can work as reviewing .It can keep knowledges in your head for a long time.So a student can’t study well without homework.As for me,I uesd to have a lot of homework to do in China,but I have a lot of time to do something I like now.I always spent ten or eleven hours to do my homework during weekend in China.Every courses have too many homeawork.It made me feel so tired.Sometimes I even hated to study.So I think too many homework is also a bad thing.Teachers should give homework to students rationally.Now I have the right amout homework to do.Although I do homework every night,I can finish them quickly.I also think sometimes some courses should have more homework than others,because maybe some coures are important than others.
ReplyDeleteAlmost everybody prefer playing computer than doing homework! Including me! But no homework, how can we success? Of course, homework is necessary to us. Teacher teach us knowledge in class, but our memory is limited, we should review by doing homework to keep it in mind deeply. And homework's amount is important too. Too much homework will cause our mind confusion, so efficiency is not too high. Homework should be Appropriate, like 2 hours work. In China, we have lots of homework, but lots of topics are the same, so is not very correct and useful to have too much homework, every homework should be average.

Compared with the homework in China, the homework here are appropriate and it is not hard to write except English homework...Because English is my second language,and I can't get the idea for doing English homework well.But I will try hard to get good scores for that.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, i think homework is necessary. But i think no one likes homework, so i think teacher should give less homework to students. Although homework can give many benefits to students, for example, students can learn many things from homework, students can know wether they understand the topic or not. Be honest, i dont like to spend time to do homework. Because i think it cause me too much time to spend on the homework, so i cant do anything else.

I think homework it's necessary.Homework is really important for us . I have many homework every day but this helped me improve my English.sometimes i have days in which my homework is hard .In Russia I had not very many HW.I always spent two hours to finish my homework but now i have 4 hours to finish my homework.Homework give many benefits for me. I like do my HW but a lot of people don't like.Teacher should give more homework to students because this can help students in future studied in college.

Hi! In my opinion homework is necessary for us. It helps us to learn more, improve English and to be better in the material which you have in the class. I think if people don't do homework it will be more difficult for them in the future. In Russia we have more homework than here but here I have some problems with it because all our homework includes English, all words are English but Math for me is easy because it is like in Russia. I think we have enough homework I mean it is enough for this year because my english is not perfect. I have 3 hours for homework and I study new English words and it takes more time. In the end I want to say that HOMEWORK is one of the most important thing in our school life.

I develop my English skills. Sometimes i m tired maybe mad and i don't thinking about homework, but i must doit. I think homework help me study new skills. In Slovakia we don't doing homeworks sometime if we can or no. It's not same here and on Slovakia with homeworks

ReplyDeleteThe picture is very interesting. In my view, I think the homework have two sides. Teachers assign appropriate homework with clear objectives and keeping students' needs in mind. But some teachers always assign a lot of homework in China and we often need 5 hours to finish the homework.they always think that the more homework they assign, the more marks we can get.I believe I will finish all the homework assigned by teachers on time because in america the homework account for 50 percent of the subject.I promise I will finish my homework better on time by myself.

The amount of homework is depend on how difficult the knowledges we learn are. Some class need plenty of practice, so the homework these class have will be more than others. Actually, i think we can train ourselves after school, and the homework should be less than before. Human memory curve shows students should do homework everyday that won't forget the main points. In China we have many homework that make everyone weary and boring, in America the HW is less than we do in China, and I think the amount of HW is much better in America.

As a student, i agree that homework is necessary; However, have the right amount of homework is very important. Most of the teachers think that give the great amount of homework to students can help the students learn more; but i don't believe that is a good idea. For me, i very interest to do my home work and i enjoy the time that solving the difficult question. Sometime i will hate that when there are too much homework for me, because i almost spend my whole night on the homework and without any free time. It is make me very tired. Some of the teachers even think that the major class such as English, Math and Science should have more homework. I hope we can have more class works or class activities to instead the homework, because i believe that the students can learn more during the group work rather than doing individual work at home by themselves.

In my opinion , I think homework is necessary because it is a kind of review of what students have learnt . How much is the right amount of homework , I think it is hard to define because every students have their different right amount of homework include me . In addition , I think the mathematical homework should have more than the others because I think we need to do it again , again and again in order to get good results in maths . In general , I have two to three hours doing my homework every night . I think it is ok because it is not too much but in the meantime , can keep me working and my condition to work .

I think homework is very important for students, and it is necessary. If no homework, we can not remember what we have learnt and what problems we have. ReplyDeleteI am used doing a lot of difficult homework in China . but when I came here , the homework is really different . At first , American teacher can't check your homework every time . But in China , teacher can check your homework every time . And if you don't finish homework , they will publish you . But here , anything is up on you . And for the time of homework . Maybe we will use severe hours to finish it , but in China , we will use the whole our free time , so , it's a regular thing for us . We have no choice . But here , we have a lot of free time to use , it's more like a job . And the harder you be , the more money you will get .That money just likes our grade . So , I think how much homework doesn't matter , the point is that how much time we will pay for homework .

But if there are too much homework for us, it's not good for us.Because too much homework will make us do homework just for homework, and make us fell tired of doing homework. So how much homework should teacher give us ,it is a big deal for students.

I think homework I do every day now is right amount.My classes are too easy,so the homework is just a little.And I think 1 or 2hours for a day is right amount.And I think hw is necessary.Because it can make sure we review something we study,and make us remeber.

I think homework is good for student. It help student to remember what them learn in the class. Appropriate amount is good for study, but too much homework is bad for student. It make student don’t want to study. If a person don’t have thirst for knowledge. He will don’t want to learn more and hate study, because it let he do a lot of work. So how much homework that teacher give student is very important.

Everyday, all the homework for me always can be finished in 2 hours and accounts for a large percentage of the grade. But in China, the home must be a lot, it will spend us about 6 hours on it. I think homework is necessary because we can remember that what we have learnt and what problems we haven't understood. Homework is the best way to help us review the knowledge. I will finish my homework everyday on time and try my best to be a excellent student.
