Journal Question #3

This time of year - autumn - is the best time to eat in New England.  The harvest is in, and you can find all kinds of fresh fruit and vegetables in farmers markets, roadside farm stands, restaurants, and grocery stores.  My favorites include corn, tomatoes, and apples.  How about you?  What are your favorite foods?  Is there food that you love to eat in your country that you can't find here in America?  Tell us about it!

  1. I don’t have favorite food, some I just do like, some I don’t.Vegetables are a lot more tasty in Ukraine than in the U.S,but in ukraine we don’t have Starbucks and many other food places, and that’s not very good.Macdonald’s is very different in Ukraine and in the U.S.I was surprised when I first visited McDonald’s here, because there were no people. In Ukraine it is always very crowded ,and we have it everywhere,it is really popular place to it.The taste is very different,in Ukraine it’s a lot better, and they have my favorite cheese souse, which they unfortunately don’t have in the U.S.

I love Italian food, especially truffle pasta and pizza but also I love sushi even though I am allergic to seafood. But I think now I am learning to appreciate Mexican food because I love it but it wasn’t my favorite one. But now that I can’t eat Mexican tacos I am realizing that I really love tacos. Here in America I can eat tacos but they don’t taste like the real ones.

I don’t like many things but when I like one food I really love it. My favorite type of food is Italian. Pasta, gnocchis, raviolis, pizza, salads, truffle fries and many more Italian foods . From all of the Italian food, my favorite one, and the one that I really like is pasta, I could eat it for the rest of my life. My favorite pasta recipe is spaghetti with mushrooms and truffles.

My favorite food is morning tea from Guangdong, China. In Guangdong, morning tea is mainly used for drinking tea and chatting, but morning tea is also equipped with a lot of snacks. These snacks are my favorite. My favorite snacks are shrimp dumplings and sausage noodles. Shrimp dumplings are made by wrapping shrimp with dumpling skin, while sausage noodles are steamed into water with rice, Then put it into the steamer to make it. These foods are hard to find in the United States. If I'm lucky, I may encounter morning tea shops in Chinatown, but most of them are not authentic. If I want to drink authentic morning tea, I have to ask a lot of people to ask where there are authentic morning tea shops. This is a very difficult thing

There are too many foods that I like to eat in my country but cannot be found in the United States, such as the eight major cuisines in China, Sichuan cuisine, Cantonese cuisine, Zhejiang cuisine, Hunan cuisine, Su cuisine, Fujian cuisine, Shandong cuisine and Anhui cuisine. There are also local foods, such as the cauldron stew in the Northeast, the morning tea in Guangdong, the beef noodles in Lanzhou, the twist in Tianjin, and the roast duck in Beijing. There are also foods of a few ethnic groups, Hakka dishes, and Uyghur mutton. There are many, many others, if someone wants to talk to me about Chinese food, I can talk all day long.

Since I was little I have loved this season, autumn. In my family we have a tradition, we always go to our house outside of the city, then we make a fire in the fireplace and we cook chestnuts and potatoes. This type of food you can find in any place you go, but chestnuts appear only in autumn. In my city in autumn it is already cold, so it’s a good plan to eat some hot chestnuts to get warm with friends, family or even alone. Of course there are some little shops in the street where you can buy it, but you can cook it in your house too.

  8. My favorite food is coffee if it counts as food.
The one that I can’t see in US rice cakes. Also there are types of food that have the same name but it looks different such as pear.

My favorite food is damplings. It's a traditional Chinese food. In my family in China, we eat dampling every Sunday night. We used the wrapper to parcel the meat inside, and made a shape. It tastes very nice and I am very satisfied with it. It has damplings in America, but the taste is not as good as the dumplings from China.

Honestly I don’t have a favorite food or a dish. I really like lasagna, lobsters or polish pierogi but it is just impossible to say which one do I like the most.
Back in Poland we have lots of great food ,like: pierogi which are polish dumpling usually served with meat, cheese or even with blueberries; bigos which is cooked cabbage with meat and other ingredients and we also have golabki which is a meat mixed with buckwheat groats wrapped in cabbage. From polish food my favorite one is probably pierogi.
Of course everything changed when I came to Saco. Unfortunately there are no bakeries in here so the only bread that I ate is just a white toast. Despite the fact that there is no good bread in here I feel in love with lobsters which you can get in almost every restaurant you go to; so my favorite food in Saco are lobsters.

Italy is a country that has always been famous for its culinary culture.Coming to America I would have expected a much worse food instead it has exceeded my expectations. My favorite dish is definitely pasta and a dish that I have always eaten for lunch or dinner when I was in Italy.Pasta can take on completely different flavors depending on how it is seasoned. It’s very easy to cook but above all very fast to make.It is very easy to find this dish in America but less easy to find it made the way it is in Italy. If I have to talk about my favorite dishes,I cannot forget pizza .

pizza was born in Naples and it is surely one of the most famous and widespread dishes in the world.Pizza comes second because it is not something that can be eaten often unlike pasta.

My favorite food is Korean food. Before coming to America, I liked Italian food more than Korean food, but after coming to America, I have been missing Korean food. Eventually, I found out that my favorite food is Korean food. I know there are many Korean restaurants in the US, although there are differences in taste.

There are so many delicious things in China. Each city has different representative dishes. Some cities are mainly spicy, and some are mainly sweet... I was born in Beijing and my favorite food is Beijing roast duck and Lanzhou beef noodles. You can hardly taste authentic Chinese food in the United States. If you have the opportunity to come to China, you should really taste Chinese food.

There’s so many things in Mexico that I love and are so good but even do they can be found here, this ones don’t taste the same like the good chilaquiles, tortas, and tacos from Mexico like the ones my mom do there. They are amazing and I think I can say my favorite food.

The flavor of it is a mixture of vegetables, soup, seaweed, and many other things. Moreover, I like to eat something that is called bun cha in my country. It is a type of noodle with fish sauce and meatballs. I couldn't find it in this state, but maybe it is in another place In the US. I recommend this as my favorite food

My favorite fruit is durian which is a fruit from Southeast Asian countries. Many people can’t accept the smell but I don’t think it is smelly. Durian is very soft and sweet. Although the calories of durian is very high, I just can’t stop eating it. I like mangosteen too but I can’t find it in the US. Actually there’s not many choices of fruit in Saco. Therefore, a lot of fruit that I like in Hong Kong is unable to be found here.

Italian food is my favorite food, especially pasta and Minestrone. Italian food focuses on the original umami. If Mexican food tastes like exploding, then Italian food should taste like running water. When you take a bite of Italian food, you will keep eating. As if magic is driving you swallow.

I feel that in Spain the food is so much better than in america, there are a couple things that I don’t find in here, for example one specific type of sunflower seeds. Then also things like “croquetas”, potato omelet, paella, tapas in general... but actually I don’t really have a favorite dish. I have a favorite snack though, Doritos or even ice cream. Does are the best things ever created.

My favorite food is Kimchi-jeon. It is also called Kimchi pancake. Whenever It is raining autumn day, I think about the day my mom used to cook Kimchi-jeon for me. It is made of pancake mix (buchim garu). The mix is seasoned and typically includes wheat flour and other ingredients such as corn starch, rice flour and sometimes baking powder.
The well-done Kimchi-jeon is not only crispy but also chewy. People in Korea usually eat Kimchi-jeon as Anju. Anju is a Korean term f

  24. My favorite food is kimchi pancake. You may suspect that it is copied because it is the same food as Dustin, but kimchi pancakes are really traditional Korean food. On rainy days, when I always went camping, I made and ate kimchi pancakes by myself. Also, after playing soccer in the rain, eating kimchi pancakes, ramen, and rice was very delicious. It's really good if you mix flour, seaweed tea, green onions, and add a little sugar. It might be in the U.S., but you can't make that much delicious food.

My favorite food is sushi. When I was in Japan, I usually ate sushi once a week because my dad always buys sushi. Also, when I was at the airport to fly to the US, I ate sushi at the expensive restaurant. It was really good. The reason I love it is because I can taste various different types of sushi. I can’t eat often here because they don’t make it. So I miss so much.

My favorite food is steamed buns. This food is made of wheat and baking powder and tastes very delicious. It can be eaten with many dishes. For example, you can eat it when you eat beef. When you eat ribs, you can eat it together. If it is a dish with soup, you can use it to soak in the soup. Eat in the juice. I searched a lot of supermarkets in the United States, but couldn't find them. This kind of food can also be said to be traditional Chinese food.

My favorite food it’s the Italian food, especially pasta like ravioli and macaroni. It’s usually for me
to eat some pizza or pasta or any Italian food every day. Since I’m here I’ve being missing my
country so much because of the food, there use to be more variety, and for me the food was
much better. I miss Spanish plates like the “tortilla de patata”, croquettes and more Spanish
plates that I use to eat.

In Korea, there is a dish called jeotgal. This food is my favorite food. There are countless types of salted fish. Since it is a traditional Korean food, it has a unique taste and smell of Korean food. Because of these characteristics, it is rarely seen except in Korea, and the process of making it is very complicated, so it is very expensive to find.

My favorite food is banh chung, which is only available during the biggest holidays, Tet. The cake has a square shape, the outside is covered with a layer of banana leaves, the inside is green like a banana leaf, and the inside is filled with meat, beans, and fat. The smell is very fragrant and the food is also delicious. Love to eat with family very cozy

This one is from the food assignment that it doesn’t let me publish it neither: Personally, I’m not a person who likes eating a lot, but there are some foods that I love eating, such as meat, pasta or pancakes. In the other hand, the foods that I don’t like are omelette, even that I’m Spanish, omelette is a food that I don’t like since I was a child; and I also don’t like apple pie.

I really like Italian food, especially pizza and spaghetti. I was in Sicily for three weeks and the food we had at the hotel was amazing. But after I flew back to my hometown, I didn't enjoy pizza as much as in Sicily. When I arrived to this school, when I got the pizza, I didn't really like it because of the hard crust.
