It's hard to pay attention. There is so much to distract a student: digital devices, classmates, intercom announcements, bells, the stream of thoughts running through one's head. And Remote Learning makes paying attention even harder. Here's the question: How do you pay attention when all these distractions are around you? Do you have any strategies or tips to share with your classmates?

- I have been a language teacher (ESL/ELL, French) for 30 years. I have taught in public and private schools, immersion programs, refugee programs, adult/continuing education, elementary, middle, and high school as well as university. Currently I teach ELL at a high school somewhere in New England.
I always get distract by my schedule. Because, thoughts about other things that also I have to finish same as what I am doing now. While I'm thinking both of them and move on to one by one, my will power goes down. So I just asked to my tutor about how to over come that situation, and she responded the way to keep up my concentration. She said I have to order the schedule from priority thing. After set it up I have to ignore my thoughts beside the work I am doing now. Believe my self and the schedule that any problems will not happen. If get distract from other things you would think of way to get rid of the origin of the distraction.
ReplyDeleteI can only say, stick to it. Although there are so many distracting things in life, I have firm willpower. When I can't stick to it, I will think in my heart, if I am so easily disturbed, how can I fulfill my dream? Every time I think like this, I can continue to work hard.

ReplyDeleteI will make a time schedule, every time what to do, the time to learn, the time to learn to play, the time to play. Sometimes I will be distracted in class due to some electronic products, but I will properly control and remind myself not to do it, and gradually I will develop such a good habit, what to do at the right time Things, this is my approach.
I’m trying to concentrate and also to get interested on that what teacher’s talking and that usually help me to pay attention in class. When I’m remote the situation is even harder. I must put my phone away from me but sometimes even that doesn’t help. I think simply some people can’t concentrate and doing well in class when they are not in person.
ReplyDeletePaying attention in class is hard to even more when you are online. But I don’t think they are some tricks that suddenly make you pay attention in class. I think that is something that has to come to you want to pay attention to. In online classes, I feel you have willpower and move away from all the things that will make you get distracted like the phone. Also being on your desk instead of in bed will make it easier.
ReplyDeleteIf i listen to the class at online then i can't pay attention to the class well. So, sometimes I can't hear when teacher called me. I thought about it and searched how can I focus on the class at online. So, I decided to behave as I'm in the offline class. That behavior helped me to pay attention to the class.
ReplyDeleteThere are many ways, but I turn off my cell phone or keep it silent during class. I think it's better to concentrate and finish studying and rest quickly. In the past, I couldn't concentrate because of electronic devices. So I always slept late at night because I delayed my homework and study. But now I have the ability to control myself, so I can focus better than before.
ReplyDeleteI think it is very important to pay attention and sometimes it is difficult but it was also a lot sick if the student is interested in the subject that is being given in the class, but even if you do not like you, you have to pay attention and the best thing you can do is get married from Any distraction such as telephone, go to a place where there are no more people. You can also try to find something nice inside the class.

It is hard to concentrate on class. Furthermore, students attend on students take online classes these days. Therefore, paying attention in the class really hard. There are some ways to paying attention on the class. Turn off cellphone alarm or put cellphone away. Then you can concentrate better in class because there is no distraction. Also, Also, if you have a drink that helps you concentrate on energy drinks before face-to-face classes, you can use it to concentrate on classes.

DeleteI still have some skills in attention. For example, when thinking about problems, I only think about this problem. In this case, I can't even hear someone calling me. Put the phone farther away when studying, maybe because I'm lazy, I will give up playing with the phone while studying because the phone is too far away to be too lazy to take it. Sometimes I will give myself a psychological hint. If I don’t finish my study, I will have big trouble to force myself to pay attention

ReplyDeletePaying attention in class is a problem to most students. Especially stydying remotely, it’s much harder. I usually don’t use my phone, which I think it helps a lot. However, it mostly depends on the the student, on how serious they are or they just don’t care.

Whenever i try to pay attention. First, I put my phones away, phone is hindrance to one's studies. Secondly, I play the classical music when I'm studying. The classical music makes me relax, so it makes my concentration level high. These are the two strategies for concentration well. -cha-
ReplyDeleteActually I don’t figure it out because I get distracted. But I always try to put my phone away that I can’t see it. Also I’m trying to focus on the class because if I focus on the class I would forget about my phone and other distractions. I think it’s an also good idea to turn my phone off. So, I keep in mind these three things.
ReplyDeleteIt’s quite important to pay attention in class and I often put everything that bothers me away maybe in the backpack or away from me but most importantly just having a Eye contact with teachers a great way to pay attention in class

It's definitely a major problem for students, perhaps teachers too. The problem can be solved with no effort. If the class is engaging and interesting. Anything that might restrain students from studying, they will absolutely ignore it .

ReplyDeleteIt's very hard to pay attention in class from many reason such as class don't have much interesting, engaging or students get tired or sleepy before class. My best solution is sleep around 9pm to 10pm so you don't feel sleepy on classes, determination study on class.
It is very hard to pay attention in class because of my phone, I get many Snapchat notifications and I can not let it opened, also when I’m in my room I’m too lazy to work, my best tip is to turn off my phone and sleep early
