Drugs are a huge problem in America. Opioid abuse (e.g., Heroin, Oxycodone, other prescription and street drugs) is in the news now because of the number of deaths they cause. But there are lots of drugs that don't necessarily kill you but hurt you anyway: alcohol, marijuana, LSD, crystal meth, tranquilizers, etc. Here's the question: why do people, especially young people, take drugs? Are you interested in "experimenting" with drugs? Why or why not?

- I have been a language teacher (ESL/ELL, French) for 30 years. I have taught in public and private schools, immersion programs, refugee programs, adult/continuing education, elementary, middle, and high school as well as university. Currently I teach ELL at a high school somewhere in New England.
I think people use drugs because they have to much pressure, and they don't know how to release correctly. I don't want to try it. Because I don't want to get overdose, and I don't have that much pressure. I love to eat to release my pressure, I have to left my money to buy foods not wasted them on drugs.

ReplyDeleteA lot of teenagers use drug because various reasons. First is they follow the social trend: like if alot of people using something, i will have to try it. Second, they want to show everyone that they are cool because that is what most of teenager look up to. I dont like drug because why do I need them? A lot of cases it is illegal too, i am just a 16 years old boy. There is no use for me to use drug.
ReplyDeleteI think some people are due to external factors, may also be self-factors. External factors are outsiders cheating, in their own do not know the case of dependence on drugs, can not afford to quit. Self-factor is that they want to seek a stimulating experience, and thus try to drug addiction, gradually addictive, I think young people drug use more external factors, not voluntary drug use, or by the family, the family was drug abuse, from the small habit, Also began to take drugs.
ReplyDeleteMany young people resist the temptation, so there are so many young people take drugs in America.Probably because of curiosity , be guided or want to reduce their pressure.I don't want to take drugs because this behavior is illegal ,drugs is harmful to us and my parents and friends aren't support take drugs.I treasure my life so I refuse take drugs.
ReplyDeleteI think almost everyone don't use drugs willingly at first,because they are curious about the new events which attract them a lot,for example,the drugs seller make the drugs like a colorful candy,if a young people see that,they will try to savor it.Followed by the the tragedy,they even misunderstand that they are using the drugs inadvertently.As we all know,drugs are addictive,when you try them once,you will try twice,third,continuously.So I don't want to use drugs extremely which affect our physical health.Also I will avoid to go to the game room as possible.Do not give me drugs,my sincerely.
ReplyDeletePeople take drugs maybe want to change something in their lives. People who use drugs may like the feelings of excitement, confidence and connection with others which some drugs can elicit. They take drugs to escape or relax, to relieve boredom, to rebel and to experiment... They think drugs are solution, but actually the drugs become the problem. With young people in particular, taking drugs can be part of natural rebellion. Difficult as it may be to face someone's problems, the consequences of drug use are always worse than the problem one is trying to solve with them. The effects and dangers of drugs are influenced by many things. Personal factors involving the person who is using the drugs can be just as important as the drugs being used. I absolutely not interested in drugs, I know how dangers they are. Although some of the drugs could not let people die.
ReplyDeleteA lot of teenage take drug, I think maybe take drug will make them feel good, or they think take drug is cool. Although they try once, but they will continue take drug because they can not stop. If they stop they will feel very uncomfortable, and crazy. So don't try to take drug.
ReplyDeleteA lot of young people are taking drugs,but whatever I am not going to do that cause drugs, is the world recognized enemy, he can destroy a family, even a country, China is also one of the victims. The drug made our China from prosperity to weakness, but now there are still people in drug trafficking and drug abuse, I think their behavior is shameful.

ReplyDeleteA lot of people take drugs especially in my country. It does not mean only teenagers doing this, also old people worst than the teenagers. First of all It can seem like something fun and sophisticated when you escape the confines of high school and parents and otherwise well meaning authorities who always told you drugs were bad.Everyone’s doing it. Can’t be all that bad.There’s always consequences. And some of those consequences can be completely unexpected. So if you are using drugs in my opinion you are destroying yourself and your body. Such as some jobs take past drug use seriously, mental health and wrinkles. People's life showen up on their faces. On the other hand, some how sometimes it can also help people. For example, disease like cancer, it helps pain to go. However it doesn't mean it is a good thing. Every thing has a good ways and bad ways. The point is, just don't abuse it and hurt yourself because you thing it is something cool.
ReplyDeleteBecause these drugs can make them excited to reduce the pressure, some young people to take drugs. But in the process of smoking will be dependent on drugs, and later will be difficult to quit. I think this is a very troublesome thing, and the harm of drugs is also a lot. I will not try these drugs, even if these drugs will not make people die immediately, but for our body is not good, is also harmful to other people, such as alcohol, it may lead to a car accident. So I will not try any drugs.
ReplyDeleteThere are many reasons that people take drugs. For adults, it may cause of the pressure. For teenagers, some of them may because of their curiosity, some of them try the drugs just because they think that is cool. I will never experiment the drugs, and I hope that there won't be some people enforce me to that. Most of drug is very expensive, most of drug can let people be addicted and do something crazy. I have herd and saw so many report of the people who have drug addiction, that is so terrible.
ReplyDeletePeople take drugs by many reasons. My opinion is some young people or students, they take drugs because of their curious. Or their friends introduce them some kinds of drugs and encourage them to take drugs with them. I am not interested in "experimenting" with drugs. The school and parents educate me that drugs are bad to your health. And when you try it you will not put drugs down anymore. And drugs can also drain your money and break your mind.
ReplyDeleteDrug is always a serious problem in our society. At first, it is a good way to relax yourself like alcohol. But some people uses it in a wrong way. Drugs makes people addicted. At the same time, it is also very expensive. Because of the price, some young people who think drug is very cool at first will commit a crime to get money to buy it. For me, I will never try anything about drugs. My families never drink. My education tells me drug is very dangerous. For all the youths, we should be careful all the things about drug in our growing life. Don't get off on the wrong foot。
ReplyDeleteDrugs are a big problem in the world, they can kill you very easily. I'm kind of scared of drugs, because once you try it, you can quit it even though you want to. For the question, I think the young people want to try it is because they're "friendship". If your friends are interesting in something, you will want to know it too, you want be "same" with your friends. For me, I would never try drugs, and I won't feel happy with the people who try drugs.
ReplyDeleteDrug is one of the most harmful things in the world. It's alluring because if you try it once you will be addicted to it. And you can not live without it, that's why most people don't even want to try it. Young people will try it because their friends may take it. In China drugs are unlawful and people who take drugs will go to a place where can help them to rehabilitate. I will never take drugs! It can destroy your family and yourself. Everyone should stay away from unsafe things and it's the best way to protect yourself.
ReplyDeleteThere are many reasons that people take drugs. Some people may think taking drug is cool, and it is the thing that their parents, teachers, and the laws don't alow them to get. They may think that is cool when they get and take them. The another reason is that the drugs may make them forget the bad things for a while. And they may feel relaxed when they are taking drugs. I won't take them, because I'm not stressed and I don't think that they are cool.

ReplyDeleteUsually young people don't try drugs by their own. There is always some one that introduces those young people to the "Drugs world". If those teens like it, they would buy even more. They will get addicted to it. There is no way back. They will do anything to get more, even if they know is illegal. I personally think that I will never try drugs. Why? Well, I like how my life is know, and I don't want to ruin it.

I think teenager take drug because teenagers think that drug addiction is exciting, stimulating, curiosity drives him to drugs, especially those who have smoked cigarettes,Adolescent friends do not care， I will not interested in experimentsing with drugs, The physical and mental health of adolescents is severely devastated. The vast majority of the current drug use is heroin, which makes the human nervous system produce a high degree of toxicity and physiological damage.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the point that people do drug because of pressure. Doing drug could actually release pressure or stress from your life. But it isn't that smart. As everyone known, drug has been known as the majority of human "killer", tons of people get sent to a place just to get rid of the drug addiction. In fact, there's so many people doing drug even now. But actually, scientist did an experience about drug. They put mice in a cage then give them the option to choose rather they want to drink normal water or water with drug, and almost every mouse decided to take the water wh drug. But then they put a lot of mice in a same place which has everything the mice want, it's basically like funtown for us. And they give them the option again, and nearly all of the choose normal water instead of drug. My opinion is that drug is just a wrong way people deal with the issue in their life. And I wouldn't try drug in the future. Because drug can be additive and it's not a smart thing to do.
ReplyDeleteHere is a fact, a lot of people especially young people want or have already tried drugs. The reason why they want to do it, because drugs can make user mentally hype up, and it can be addicted. Most teen they want have fun, especially when all their friends are yelling" do it, do it , do it." Personally, I'm not into any different type of drugs, because I know drugs can hurt my mind. I know it can really makes my mind work slow when I get older. I always tell myself drugs are bad for me, and don't do it. If our beautiful world is a big white paper, then drugs are the huge stain on the paper.
ReplyDeleteI think the most of the young people try drugs because of curiosity. But after they first try drugs, they will have a drug addiction. I have no interested in "experimenting " with drugs. I had the lessons about drugs when I was young. So I know the detriment of the drugs. No matter how much i am curious , I will never try drugs. It is my principle. Maybe the drugs will give you happiness at one moment, but it gives you the damage is forever. It will influence your health , emotion,personality. So everyone should stay away from drugs.
ReplyDeleteDrugs are poisonous. No matter what kind of drug, it kills you potentially and slowly. But the deadliest thing is, drug makes you feel comfortable! Many teenagers want to try taking drugs to make them feel good, but they don't really care about the disadvantages of taking drug, they just want to have fun. I will never be a part of these teenagers, because I know drugs are extremely threatening to my health and drug takes tons of money. Spending all of your money and health just for fun? I won't do that.
ReplyDeleteDrugs are definitely a bad thing. And the reason for people to take drug is because nowadays people are under pressure or cannot release the pressure form them. For me, I won't take drug for my whole life. Because that's something you can't control. After you are fascinated with drug, it will consume your money and soul. So it's a bad thing for you.

ReplyDeleteTeenagers like to be talked about. So they would try different stuff like drugs fro example to attach attention to them selfs. Also teenagers are most likely to be depressed and unhappy with their life. They find ways to calm and find them selfs in something that is not really right. I'm not interested in drugs because there are so many more ways to feel happy to see new and exciting

People are taking drugs with lots of reasons, such as being cool, curiousness, too much pressure, etc. I'm not interested in experimenting any drugs. I used to hear that drugs would make someone feel like no pressure anymore. I'm the person who would like to take advantage from pressure, so I won't experiment that. Most of people who have drugs, then they can't get away from it.
Drugs also called sedative. At the first time, drug is used to help the soldiers take less pain in the war. After that, people find that drugs also help people getting extra stimulate. It will help people relax and feel comfortable when you take the drugs. But more harm than good on the drug problem. Thousands of teenagers died by eating drugs. Too many drugs are not a good thing. It will destroy yourself and your family. I have no any interest in drugs.
ReplyDeleteNone want to use drug first. Although some drug is use to treat an illness. You can not use too much. It is too drainage for people health and it will make be poor. I will never try that it is too bad too use drug. I know at first drug is use too help people, but if you use too much it will break your body and head.
ReplyDeleteNowaday, more and more people obsession with drugs, including teenagers. It's a fairly serious problem. I have never tried such behaviours and I certainly don't want try that. My parents always told me don't do such stupid behaviour, it will make you fixation on it. In my view, teenagers like drugs because they are curious and fresh, and gradually they mislead in a wrong way result from becoming a drugster.

ReplyDeleteA lot of teenagers do drugs because they want to look cool, have fun or probably because their parents or somebody of their family do it. I don't do drugs, it's super expensive and I don't see the point of killing yourself. If they wouldn't kill you... I don't know if I would do just to try, but knowing that you can die no way.
ReplyDeleteDrugs are a serious problem all over the world. People can't stop using drugs after they first try them. And also drugs are really expensive to buy. Many people lose their family, house and everything because of it. Young people are the biggest buyers of drugs. They think use drugs is a very fashion thing to do. Maybe their friends are using them too, so they want to do that and make a better friendship with them. After they using them, they will become very hard to refuse drugs, and they will feel very uncomfortable if they can't get drugs to use. So they just keep using drugs until they die.
ReplyDeleteSomebody would say that using drugs is exciting and it's a great experiment to do. I strongly disagree will that idea. For me, drugs are useless at all and it doesn't have any good points. Once you use them, you will become very hard to refuse them, you will just keep losing your money and your body condition will become worse and worse. It's never a good experiment for anyone. Never ever use them too much.

ReplyDeleteDrug is bad. I think the education about drugs in school is weak. By way of exemplary punishment the death penalty must be imposed on juveniles who use drugs. And it does not seem to feel serious about drug crime socially. I think it's a problem for the teenagers to buy drugs, but it's a national problem. We should never use drugs unless it's a medical situation.
ReplyDeleteDrugs are the most biggest problem which relative with people's death rate every year. Most of people who doing drugs are in order to release themselves getting the relaxation and for the decompression. In this modern society, a large number of the young have high pressures for their works, jobs, family and the relationship between people. So this is the reason why most of the drugs people are the young. But this solution of decompression is not the right way. So I absolutely resist the drugs. Besides, the alcohol, cigarettes, marijuana... these are not good for people's health too. But these are not exactly large destroy people's body. But drugs will ruin people's mental health and physical health, which make people to be doldrums and emaciation. Also it's addictive. People can't stop on it when they start to trying it. Therefore, I think I would never try the drugs in the future. This is really a foolish solution.

Durgs are banned in America. We still can buy them a lot of ways, but anyway we shouldn't do that. Beacuse using drug will lead people be addicted to them. The people who are using drugs behave like don't eat breakfast, and true about drug is they are really bad for people's health. Using drug for long time will lead addiction. It can also weaken the Dopamine secretion. If it happens, it will let the user lost Excitement and become Decadent. Those are the bad side of drugs. I really think we should refuse it, and stop using them if you are using now. Using it makes people more like a idiot, nothing is so cool to use drug and it's absolutely bad for your healthy. From now, resist drug is everyone's duty and I wish drug will be replace in the future. We will have some new and good stuff for medical treatment.

I think the reason is that young young people want to be cool, or they have friends who is taking drugs, and also they want to be happy by taking drugs. I am not interesting about drugs experiment, because drugs are not good for our health.

After drug addiction, it will be difficult to get rid of drugs, and then put a lot of money to buy drugs, drug traffickers to obtain benefits from. I promised to the god, I will never take drugs during my all life.Smoke is not good though, but older people have to do on the meeting or something, teenager is just for cool. ReplyDeleteTo my mind the drugs aren't allways harmful. There are some illnesses when they help patients toreduce their pain. I think young people use drugs because they want escape their problems and difficulties of life. They feel that they aren't understood. I don't want to try the drugs because I thinkit isn't a good solution. Taking drugs not only harmful and dangerious but sometimes it can caused death.

Drug actually using for medical treatment, but some drug became people's favorite, peoples started addicted on it. It very bad for your health and hurt your brain, even you feel good and relax. I lot young people they are the most dangerous people, they always more likely to addicted to the drugs, because they think that is cool and fashion, they know it will hurt they body but they don't really care, they just care that moment it make them feel good. Then when they started it, they will be very hard to stop it or get away from it.
