- I have been a language teacher (ESL/ELL, French) for 30 years. I have taught in public and private schools, immersion programs, refugee programs, adult/continuing education, elementary, middle, and high school as well as university. Currently I teach ELL at a high school somewhere in New England.
I'm grateful to my friends. As a residential student, my parents is not nearly to me, everyone may feel lonely. So friends are important,they make me happy. We are playing together,studying together. Chinese New Year was finish last weekend. We were going to China House to eat together to celebrate our New Year, China house's boss play with us together, and he said we don't need to paying for is meal, thanks him gave us such a good night.
ReplyDeleteThanks for my parents, I know that in our country in our country, there are many kids who want to study abroad,but their parents don't allow. Thanks for my parents gave me a chance to studying at TA where the prefect school.

ReplyDeleteDuring my sixteen-year long life, lots of people helped me and I feel grateful to all of them. However, today I’d like to talk about the people I feel most grateful to after I started to study in the US.
ReplyDeleteI’ve been in the US for more than 200 days since last July. I met many different kinds of people and I also made lots of friends here. I have to say that everyone in this school treated very nice and all of them gave me support and help. However, in those people, I mostly want to say thank you to my classmates and my teacher in Orchestra.
Although I’ve been learning to play the piano for 11 years, it was my first time to play with other players. The people who play any music instruments all know that playing music at right tempo is one of the most important things that we should pay attention to when we play any instruments. I was really confused when I play the piano with the whole orchestra because I wasn’t used to watching the conductor. As a result, I really had a hard time to find right tempo. Because of that, I was even too afraid to play the piano at first. My teacher noticed that I was uneasy so she walked by me after class and she comfort me by saying that I did awesome job and everyone will have a hard time to get used to something new that hey have never met before. Her words cheered me up and gave me power to challenge myself. Also, all of my classmates were very patient and nice to me that they always waited for me being ready. Sometime I made some silly mistakes on notes or messed up the temple. At that time, I was in an embarrassing situation but none of them laughed at me as I thought. Instead of that, they told me that I really improved myself and I am getting better and better.
Thanks to their help, I performed successfully on the holiday concert on December and another concert with dancers and singers in February. I managed it! At first, playing with the whole orchestra in front of one hundred audiences is the thing I would never think about because in my mind, it was too hard to do that. I believe that I will remember my experiment in orchestra forever and it did change my mind that I found that nothing is impossible.
Their encouragement gave me courage and changed my life, I really want to thank you to them. THANK YOU GUYS!

I am grateful to all my friends being around me. I am proud of I am a Chinese and be raised in China. I got used to everything that familiar to me and accepted everything related with my parents. Life seems to be too smooth for me. I could get anything I want just by telling my parents.
I had always thought about maybe my life had lost something important that I have always ignored. I did not get any answer until the day I left my primary school. It is friends. When I say friends I did not mean those who cheers for me when I am up, but those who cheers me up when I am down. I moved to capital of China Beijing from my hometown.
Beijing was a whole new city for me but I went there with my confidence because I thought I am the world. But things never go as they expected. People made fun of me because I am from south with southern accents. I was laughing in front of them but crying when I got home. The satire was I called everyone I thought we were friends for help. They either answer the phone without any idea who I am or did not answer at all.
They threw me in the worst position I had ever gotten. I realized not only friends will get close to me, rat as well. I made a decision, change myself in every way I could think. I stopped talking about how noble my family are and start to contact people in my way. I finally found my only best friend in grade 8. His name is Jerry. Jerry taught me a lot of things. He taught me how to show people my best side and made became one of the famous person in 9th grade in China.
One year ago I came in America for a better education. It is another whole new place for me. But I did not start from zero. I got one friend and that was all I need. We shared everything that happened to us in high school even though it is two different schools based on different cultures. We talked through the down time.
Now I got another sky in America. I feel I am flying on the highest level I have never been up to with my friends. I got lucky because my parents took me to Beijing for middle school, other wise I would never come up this high. Thank you all my friends.

ReplyDeleteI am grateful to my parents, my family, my teacher and all of my friends.I am grateful to my parents. They give me a life. They teach me lots of things and help me grow up. My dad is a good cook. Cook is not his career but,he can cook a lot good meals. I like my dad's cook.My mom always helps me to solve my emotion problems. Sometimes my dad will do that too. I am thankful to my parents because they send me to U.S. to study. They hope that I can get good education in U.S. I feel happy that I can study in America. I can learn more stuff. I will keep working hard. I am grateful to my family. I have a big family. We live together and take care of each other. We have a happiness life. I also thank to all my teachers. They teach me lots of things. I can get lots of knowledge from my teachers and become more an more mature. I feel so thankful to my Chinese teacher who is in my middle school. She always tell me lots of truth and teach me how to be a good person and a student. She lets me become more mature during my middle school time. I am grateful to my friends. I make lots of friends in my middle school. We are good friends forever. We always help each other and play together. When I go back to China, I always find them and play with them. Now, I am in America. I also make lots of friends in here. We have fun every day. We help each other sometimes, we also joke on someone. We spend good time together in America. I like study and live with them. Finally, I am grateful to my country. I am proud of China and I am a Chinese. I feel lucky that I born in China. I love my country! I love my parents, my family, my teachers and my friends!

When someone asks me who I want to say thank you to, my first thought of course is my parents because they gave me birth. To be honest, I am very grateful to them but the people who helped me the most after I came to the US were not my parents but my friend, Xinhao. Xinhao was my classmate in my primary school and we were in the same middle school last three years. After I came to the US, I Facetime with my parents almost everyday but I could’t tell them everything I meet because I don’t want to make them be worried about me. As a result, Xinhao became my trash bin that I tell almost everything no matter that is good or bad and he always gives me a perfect answers or solutions to solve the problem. I still remember that in the first month in the US, I had trouble communicating with my friends and I even hurled one of my friend’s collar just because he influenced me to record. I was very regret about that but I didn’t know how to apologize, Xinhao was the first person that I thought I should ask. I thought he would blame me because of my impulsive behavior but he didn’t. He knew that I was shocked by my own behavior so he told me that it was not my fault to comfort me right away. Then, he gave me plenty of solutions to improve the relationship with me and my friend. I did what he suggested me doing and it worked very well. In past half year, no matter I have questions about studying or relationship between my friends, I would ask him right away. I think without his support and help, I won’t be able to be brave enough to face all challenges in a foreign country alone.
I’m grateful to my residential student especially Chinese students. When I came to the school in August for summer camp, I was the only students that from Korea. I felt alone because all person who is in the class was the person that I never meet. And also, this is not my country. But all of my friends was so kind to me. If I am staying alone because of the language different, they always tried to join me in them. I think they were so helpful at that time and also, they are really good friends still. I think I could have a great time in America because of their help. In nowadays I visit their room and play with them or talking about something. And I think I could make more friends because of them. I wish they would be my best friends forever.

ReplyDeleteI am grateful to my friends who are very kind and honest. They always help me when I have some trouble and they give me warmth. I remember that I got serious hurt on my left foot. I broke 3 bones in my toes. It is too hard to walk and my foot is very painful. It is time to go to eat brunch at 10:30, but my left cannot touch the ground and it is very far from dorm to cafeteria for me. I was so sad that sited in the dorm and I am very hungry. At that time, my friend helped me to bring food to me. I was very pleasant and I was very thankful this friend to help me. I think that friend is very important. Friend is like a warm coat. When I get cold, I can wear it to feel warmth. I am also grateful to my family. My parents raise me hard and send me for studying abroad. I am really thankful for my parents. When I came to the US, my parents always miss me because I need to stay in the US for a long time. My sister also took care of me. She always brings some snacks and something I need. I really appreciate my sister for helping me.
I'm grateful to all the people that try to make me happy. Specially I'm grateful to my family. My parents and my brother that are always helping me trying to the the best for me, they always make me feel good and they are really awesome. Also I'm grateful to my friends that are very honest and make me feel so happy. They are always there when I need them. I always have fun with them and they make my life much easier. I can't belive my life with all this amazing people.
ReplyDeleteI am greatful to all of the people who I care. These are the especially people who make me happy. For sure firstly my family. I am so greatful to them to send me here. They are making so many effort for me. I am so glad. During this year, I am greatful to my dear turkish sister Ilayda, which is always here for me when I need. She is like my sister. She is the only one who can truly understands me here. Also I am greatful to people who I met in TA. I will never see them again. I learned a lot from them, and the experiences that I had and still having with them are so special. I am never going to forget my this year.

They don't like the teacher teach us the sea of knowledge, also they don't like parents tell me the true meaning of life. They give me so much help when I in difficult. They give me so much courage to face difficulties. In class, we discuss and solve problems together; After class, we play together. They make me smile and happy.

ReplyDeleteThe most helpful people in my life are definitely my parents. I thank for my parents because they give me life and they raise me up, they teach me a lot of things. I also thank for all my friends and teachers, although sometimes I argue with them, but I learn a lot from them, they give me a happy school life.
I want to send this Valentine to my parents.I am so grateful to have people like them in my life.They always treat me as the best daughter even I was not in the past.I was argueing with them a lot and I was doing some bad things. Life gave me a lecture and I realized my mistakes as soon as it was possible.All these bad years my parents were standing by my side ready to help me anytime.I really appreciate it right now much more than before when I was taking it like their responsibilty but everyone should understand that it is not their responsibility to always be there for us there is no rule about it.It is just about their love.I know sometimes you think that the things what they say are silly and useless but later you will recognize that all of them are true.

My parents the have made so much things for my welfare, they are always helping me trying to get the best for me, they always make me feel good and they are really awesome. They support me everyday of my life, and I am still doing well because of them and I am so grateful to them. My friends are an important part of my life. They make my days and every time I am sad they cheer me up and they try to remove everything in my mind that stress me out by making me laugh. I really grateful and thankful to my family. For the opportunity they give me and love. I really grateful to my friends in Ukraine and United States. They always near me, really to help if I need. I really enjoying my life. I really like TA. I grateful to all the people that doing something good to me. Because I always, if someone did something good for me I 100% will do something good to them. And everything what I have its because of my parents. They doing a lot to me, and I really appreciate it. I really love my Family. So I'm very grateful and thankful to my family!

I'm grateful to my family and friends who are helping. In the past, I didn't study very hard, I got all bad grades on my school works and test. My parents never give up on me, and don't give me on me, even encourage me to study hard. In my 13 years old birthday, they gave me suggestion to study in the American for getting a better education. When I started to study in TOFEL, there were a lot of friends help me to study. They make me, start to like studying. I found interesting thing in studying. First, thanks for my parents, to be patient for me, and give me a chance to study in the America. Second, thanks for my friends who gave me lots of help.
I am grateful to my family, friends and teachers. My parents do lots of things for me to improve myself and that's why I am here right now. In TA I met lots of people. For me it is hard to live without my family, I always missing them but my friends in here help me a lot, especially Derya. I can't imagine what if Derya is not here this year. We're sharing everything together and she is the only person can understand me perfectly. Also my teachers are always ready to help me whenever I want. Everyday I spend my all time with those people and I'm learing lots of things from those people. They are so important to me and I really love them.

I wish I could be back at home for Valentine's day, because we always give each other some small gift and spend time together with my family. This year when I am not at home and my sister is in Turkey for her job, I was lucky , because I could gave some Valentine to her. My friend Ilayda, who is from Turkey , she went back home on February break and she met my sister. I prepared an envelope with letter and necklace for my sister and it's same like I have right now.When they sent me a picture like they met each other it was just so cute! I am glad that my friend Ilayda did it for me, it means a lot.
ReplyDeleteThen I was in New York with Andrea and I had an idea. I bought some small gifts for my family, and I am going to sent them as a late Valentine. I believe that one day of the year which it calls Valentine- day of "love" can't change my love to my family. It's actually everyday bigger and bigger and it's not even Valentine.
I can't be more thankful for everything what happened in my life in past few years. I am trying to be better every day and share love and happiness with my family and friends. And I think It's just what really matter for me!
During The Valetine's day, I called my family and greeted them. I also want to be greatful to my best girl(female) friend who studies in Tucson at Arizona. She inspire me when I failed on the quize. We had facetime a lot per week, and she is the only peroson who completly understand me. I went to same primary school with her and we also went to the same middle school. After I gratuate from colleage I plane to live in the same city with her. Thank you to all of you who took care me before or will responsible to my life.

I'm very grateful they are my parents, they try they best to teach me how to be a good person in the life, they take very care of me, they watched me grow up. I love them, they are my life, even some time we will have some small fight, it doesn't matter to us, we are still love our each other. Also, I will very grateful people who loves me and around me. Especially is my two best friends, there is a girl call YanZhe and there is a boy called JiHao, they are not just my best friends, they are more like my sister and brother. We know each other 14 years long now, they always love me, listen to me, we always support each other and want they be better and better. I love them, they are my life too. I don't know what should I say to them, I just feel I'm very lucky I can have them in my life, I feel grateful. They all very important to me. I love them.

ReplyDeleteFor me, Valentine’s Day is strange because I never celebrate for it. I just know that is always for couples and most of the couples celebrate for it by having a date and giving presents to each other like chocolates. It is the first time that I know this day is not just for the couples. Thank you is a really frequent sentence. We might use it very often during our lives, such as, when someone help you open the doors, after ordering during the meals, when someone to make way for you, and so on. All of these are worth saying thank you to someone else, even yourselves. For me, I must say thank you to my parents. Thank you for giving my life and let me come to the world. I want to say thank you to my brother. Thank you for giving me the special experiences in my life. I would rather to say thank you to myself. Thank you for all of thank you above and being thankful about your life right now. I very cherish and be thankful for my life at the present.
I'm grateful to my friends who I made in middle school. We got along for three years. We have smiles, tears and experiences. I'm here only for saying thank you to you. I had a really good time in middle school. On Valentine's Day I also want to say thank you to my girlfriend. You We are at different country. Every time we contact . We talk about the vacation. You are waiting for the vacation that I can come back. You must feel lonely as I do. But we will have have a bright future.

ReplyDeleteI'm so grateful for my parents. They gave me everything roof above me, opportunity to study abroad all what I have now and what I need to live a happy life. My family is a big family with 3 children. My father was born in Russia not in a capital. His home city is nice but not in the neighborhood where he was born. He build his life by his own. I'm so proud that my father made his and his family life happy. My mom was born in a small city also. They both got education in the same college, for that time it was one of the best. They made their lifes nice for me and my siblings. I'm so grateful for them.

I'm grateful to my family and friends who are helping. In the past, I didn't study very hard, I got all bad grades on my school works and test. Valentine's Day is an occasion to celebrate people you love, and I want to say I am grateful to my parents. They take care of me for 18 years and support me in my back. This Valentine’s Day I spent time in watching movie with my parents. We were watching movie and having sweet popcorn. Obviously, we had a lot of fun. After watching movie, we went shopping and had dinner. I can feel that they want to give my as much as possible memory because I am studying in the U.S, and they can’t stay in American with me. People always say that parents’ love is a great and selfless. I am totally agree with that. However, sometimes they don’t know to express their love so it seems so difficult to talk with them in some case. For example, in winter, my mom always ask me to bring one more coat which I think I don’t really need it. I think it is a common case that in everything family do that for their children. Anyway, I know they love me deeply, and I love them too. Finally, I still want to say I am so grateful to my dear parents.

They teached me how to walk, they teached me how to write my name, they wished me to healthy growth. They offered me to go to school and learned knowledge, my parents were my spiritual pillar. And now I can study in the USA by my parents and I am very glad and lucky that I can be their children. My parents offer me everything. And than I am grateful to all the teachers, they taught me much knowledge. They also like our parents.

ReplyDeleteValentine’s Day is not only the day with your girl or boyfriend, it significance is not limited to this. I think it should be a festival to thank someone.
But also everyone around the Valentine’s Day should grateful to those who encourage you. Because he brought you the warm, so grateful his help. He changed your predicament, so grateful his decide.
For me, I’m grateful to my family, my parents. They let me come to this colorful world, and they look after me very careful.
Mama, thank you for so many years of my education and training, ignorance of the past I always provoke you angry, but now I grow up, I know how self-reliance, I know how to be brave without you. You send me abroad. Thank you for letting me understand this colorful world and I have more experience to face to the future society.

ReplyDeleteAs the saying goes daughter is father's past lover, son is mother's past lover. I have two brothers, the very love me, I want everything they will give to me, and now they have their wife, they all love me too, so I feel i was very happiness because I have them, but now i can't do anything for them.
When I was young I always go with my mom because my dad need go to work, and they want give me good live, so they very hard to work. I love them very much, so I want study hardly, have a good grade.I love them very much.
On Valentine's Day my homestay family gave me a lot of gift and I am really surprised about that. Because in China Valentine's Day just for people's lovers. So as for single people we don't celebrate this festival. Because I am in the U.S so I will follow the culture.Although American culture is very different from China's.
ReplyDeleteNow I am glad to introduce my music teacher and our school's marching band director Ms.Jiang in China to you. She is really a good director, she can also play the piano and sing very well. Every time after our band practice, she driving some students whose home is very far, she use her free time to teach us, and she always take care of our life. Dear Ms.Jiang, I really want to say thank you to you. I am lucky to have a teacher like you. and no matter what kind of person I will become, you will always have your influence on me. You taught me never say never, how to be confident in the stage and keeping do my favorite things…From you I learned what kind of person I want to be and what should I get from life. This means everything to me.
Valentine's Day is not only for people who has boyfriend or girlfriend. If I can send valentine to someone, I really want to send to my parents. I think I am the most happy kid in the world, because I have greatest parents. They give me life. They are my first teacher in the world, they teach a lot of good things for me. And they take care of me from a baby to a teenager, it is really hard thing. They are try to give me whatever I want. For example, they want me to get a good life and education, they spend a lot of money, and send me to united state. When I was kid, I think my parents are tiresome, they always do not allow me to do things that I want to do, and always teach me many things that I think is boring. When I grow up, I understand why they keep doing it, it is a kind of love to me from my parents. I am grateful to my parents, I love them so much.

And they teach me how to play football, and they play basketball with me. Then I am thankful my best friends. They teach me a lot things and show me a lot new stuff. Yesterday is my birthday, my friends give me a lot gifts, and them make me have a good day, I am so happy because I play with them all day. Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is on February 14.Valentine's Day is a full of love day. And its a traditional festival! It is also a day to thank my parents. They gave me life, and they gave me home. I also thank my teachers because they teach some knowledge. I also thank my friends,because they help me,and gave me love
Valentine's Day is a very special day for people. I celebrate Valentine's Day with my girlfriend. On Valentine's Day, people will give chocolate and roses to their friends. My girlfriend gives me chocolate on Valentine's Day. This is a very romantic holiday. This year, I give a necklace to my girlfriend. However, this year, we spend Valentine's Day in the airplane because we went to North Carolina. I'm planing to make a surprise next year on Valentine's Day. Many people don't like Valentine's Day because they don't have girlfriends or boyfriends but I still think Valentine's day is important. My girlfriend really likes Valentine's Day so I always celebrate it.

ReplyDeleteIn a day like Valentine's Day I'm grateful to my family, to my parents because thanks to them I'm her right now, also to all my friends, I can not imagine a life without friends, they are always there, for the good things and also for the bad things, and if they are not there when you need it, is because they are not friends, I'm also grateful to my girlfriend, she is making this experience much better, and she takes a lot of care about me. I'm grateful to all the people that I love.
I want to say thanks for my parents because they have taken care of me since I was 2 years old.All of my things are they given to me because they love me.Ever my birthday they all with me and I feel very warm. When I need something I want,my parents will try their best to get I want.In the future,I will have to do something for them and let their life become happy and fun.I will have a baby and make my family WU stronger and more powerful.I think it's best gift for thanks my parents.But this is a future plan.Now,I think the best way to be thankful for them is hard studying and keep studying in a nice college.
ReplyDeleteLast October, I celebrated my 18th birthday. I want to thank my parents for giving me my life. I want to thank my teacher for helping me get a better grade. I want to thank my friends for looking after me as their brother.
ReplyDeleteHowever, the one I should be most grateful to is no longer among the living. My grandma who got the Alzheimer's disease since I was in middle school left this world three days after the Chinese New Year. My mom was busy with her business and didn't have enough time to take care of me. I lived with my grandma for ten years. My most relaxing time and unforgettable events happened during that period.
I stayed for her funeral. I should say that word “thank you” long times ago.

ReplyDeleteI am very grateful to my parents. They are great and generou. Thank for everything they have done for me. Thank them for giving me the life so that I can see this beautiful world. Thank them for taking the trouble to bring me up. I know it is really difficult. Thank them for giving me so much encouragement especially when I was in trouble or depressed. The most important thing that I want to say “Thank you” is their great admiration on my own freedom. They never forced me to do anything I was not interested in, even they had already known that I would regret not doing it. They never forbade me to do anything I was truly interested in and supported me financially and mentally such as studying abroad and traveling around the world. They told me to look over the horizons and to pursuit my own dreams without hesitation. I am proud of them so much. I feel so lucky to be their child. Winter vacation is coming. It will give me the most excellent opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to them----coming home and share more time together with my parents!
