- I have been a language teacher (ESL/ELL, French) for 30 years. I have taught in public and private schools, immersion programs, refugee programs, adult/continuing education, elementary, middle, and high school as well as university. Currently I teach ELL at a high school somewhere in New England.
Actually, I think it is a good start for me right now!! I feel so excited! This is my sophomore year, so I am beginning to prepare my university now. My first goal for this year is getting good grade! My courses in this year are really harder than last year, I chose a AP course and some Honor courses for my sophomore year, and I also chose some regular American history courses for this year, I feel the schedule for this year will become a big challenge for me, but I'm not afraid because I just feel eager, I long a big successful from my grade. I know grade is not only to represent your ability, but it is the most important to represent my attitude of study!
ReplyDeleteMy second goal is to join some good clubs, like I want to join Chinese club and Anime club! I know I don't have any experience to manage a group of people, so I don't care if I do something like helping juniors and seniors, I think the most important for my this year is to accumulate good management skills and leadership from juniors and seniors.I'm trying to join some sports team in this year, I'm sure I will play basketball in this winter, and also I'm interesting to play baseball in spring, but I just know the rule..........
My third goal is to read lots of books! I regret I didn't read enough books during last year, so I will use the time before going sleep to read books, I think they are 2 hours for a day! I believe my AP human geography knowledgew will help me to study global history by myself!
I feel everything is good and fluky right now because everything is on my future plan! Maybe sometimes I feel lonely, but I'm stronger than last year, yeah! Good start, happy start!!

ReplyDeleteI think it's true.This year I take my first AP course—— AP human geography. I love this class. I think that is what I'm interested in! I enjoy discussing current topics and world news with Mr.Nelson. We must pass the AP test at the end of semester. It's so difficult and I have to prepare seriously.
At the same time, I need to review for SAT and TOEFL as well. They are tests for my English ability and relating to which university will enroll me.
My concern about English is so deep，even my friends feel it. My best friend Billy suggested me that I can take ELL III instead of senior English，because it's too difficult for me.
BECAUSE IT IS TOO DIFFICULT FOR ME！！！
If being good at English is a kind of challenge，today I accept it！My most important plan for this year is just improving my English ability.
Simple but difficult, isn't it?
My three goals for this year are:

This year is going to be tough and difficult at the same time. Firstly, it's my first year and I don't know a lot of things that some of returned students know. My goals are almost the same and maybe not extremely exiting as another students have. So my first goal is - to ketch up with all subjects and take as much as I can from each teacher ,each opportunity. Third - to make up my mind,because it's little bit messy there.

I first goal for this year is doing well for my math classes. I take two English classes this year. Geometry and Algebra Two. I studied math when I was in China so I think I can do well on math, I want to learn pre-calculus next year.

I third goal for this year is visiting England. I only traveled America before. I want to travel to London. There are many beautiful places in the world. I want to learn and see more things.
This is my first year at TA so I have to do lots of things such as getting used to the way to study, time management,... But my three goals are 1) Pass successfully the AP exam and the final exam. 2) Immerse and share Vietnamese Culture to friends over the world at TA. 3) Improve my vocabulary and writing skill.

ReplyDeleteAccording to my father if a people want to be successful he must have some aims when he is young, cause the younger you are the less things you need to care. So I give myself some aims for this year.
ReplyDeleteMY first aim is to get 6A in this year and the other two class can’t less than a B. I give myself this aim just for the basis, cause if you don’t have a good grade in class you can’t do everything in now days, you can’t go to a good college, you won’t allow to stay in America, on the other way if I don’t get a good grade it can means I didn’t study hard in America, the reason that I write is the reason that I thing, for those reasons I will try my best to get a good grade in this year. Expect try my best to get a good grade, I will also try my best to do everything in this year.
The second aim in this year is I will try my best to do everything. Cause when I back to my hometown China I didn’t go to study SAT instead I go to working in a big shopping market, in there my Boss let me know one thing: you can’t do everything prefect, but at least you should try your best to do it, whatever the result is good or bad. I can still remember when I start to do the work in shopping mall (I sell glass cups and the dishes in the mall), I had no Idea to do that, I was too afraid to market my product, when my boss see that he just came up and told me “don’t worry for the customers won’t buy your products, just go and try to sell it, none promoters have a 100% confidence to sell their product, but if you don’t let the customers know your products you will just have 10% chance to sell the products. So don’t worry, just go and try your best.
My last aim is one of my wish: I want make more friends form all kinds of country, although I have no idea how to make friends with them, I believe when I have a good grade and I do everything in my best and be a friendly and brave person I can arrive my last aim.
I believe I can arrive all the aim for this year. I trust myself and I will do the best.
This is my first year to study in America.I am in Grade 10 at TA.It is difficult for me to understand what teachers say in class now.But I believe everything will be fine.My aims in this year are being able to understand what teachers say,improving my English and making some friends.I hope I can get good grades when I graduate.I want to study some AP classes.I want to play tennis,now I am the worst students in tennis club which is provided for our dorm students.I will try my bets to play tennis and I also hope that I can join the tennis club at TA one day!
ReplyDeleteThis is my goals for this year. I will listen to the teacher carefully and try to ask and answer questions. I will review what was learnt and then do my homework carefully. I will spend about twenty minutes to read English and prepare the new lessons every day. I will watch English Programs and listen to English songs which are good for my English study. I will ask my teacher and classmates for help when I have problems in English learning. When I make mistakes, I will correct it right away and try not to make the same mistakes.
ReplyDeleteGoals are very important things to make student become successful, especially for a international student. I am a grade 9 international student in Thornton Academy. It is my first year to study here. My first plan is getting good grad on English. That's my first and the most important gale for me. Because my mam's language is Chinese but now I have to speak English. The second gale is losing my fit. To make me more healthy. The last one is making friend all over the world. That can make me more popular.

Because here is a new environment for me at TA, i need to join it. And i like soccer, so my third goal is joining the soccer team in TA.
ReplyDeleteThis year is my first year in high school and also my first year study in the United States.Alought I have been study in other English-speaking country for five mouth, I think there is a long trip which I have to adapt the new circumstance and accept the new learning skills,especially is the English .So my first goal is try to integrate into the new life as soon as possible.Moreover, I signed up the Math club and the Art club, just much the same clubs I took in my middle school .I hope that I will get a great time in those clubs and get more experience.Finally, my third goal is simple: ENJOY THE FIRST IN HIGH SCHOOL!!!

My three goals
It is my first time to study in America. I feel excited extremely. This is my sophomore year and I have three goals for this school year.
First and foremost, l hope l can be a straight A student. I want to go to university in Boston after graduation. There are some top universities in Boston, such as Harvard University, MIT and Boston University, etc. Now these top universities may be a bit difficult for me to access to, but there is an old saying in China: “Nothing is impossible to a willing mind.” Although now Spanish is a bit hard for me to study, I believe if I devote myself to studying it, I will catch up with my classmates soon.
What’s more, l want to study how to play tennis during this school year. Before I went to America, I played badminton three times a week. I play badminton very well. However, culture differences are inevitable. Playing badminton is not very popular in America. I believe playing tennis is a bit similar to playing badminton for the reason that at least we should use rackets when we play badminton or tennis. I want to spend as much time as possible to exercise so that l can be a healthy girl.
Last but not least, I want to do as much volunteer work as possible. Before I went to America, l did plenty of volunteer work. For example, last year my classmates and I raised money for poor children so that they could have free and healthy lunch. I hear that there is a club called America Action team at TA. I hope I can join the team and continue to do volunteer work because I can not only help others but also learn how to cooperate with my partners.
I believe diligence and persistence are the keys to success. Only in this way can I head for a bright school year.

ReplyDeleteThis is the first year I come to America. Without parents’ supervise, I should work harder than before.The homework should be done without anyone’s supervise. I would like be more voluntarily,hope I will never forget to do my homework.
The second thing I would like to do is to correct my English accent. Because I’m freshman, and in this year, it’s the best year to make friends and can practice it. I hope it can help me in the future.
The third thing I want to do is find the clubs and the sports I really want to do and love to do. I want to try most of them in this year because it is the most relaxed year in these high school years.
These are the thing I want to do in the first year I come to America, it is also the first year in the high school.

This is my first year in TA and America, also. Therefore; I have a lot of thing to do. First, I will learn about the american culture and culture of many differences countries. ReplyDeleteThis is my first year of TA. I have 3 goals for this year. To begin with, I should improve my English. This is pretty necessary and important for me. If my English is not good, I cannot understand what other people say. So when I meet strange words, I write them in my notes. Next, I will study hard for all courses. This is basis of my dream. I know GPA is extremely important to me. High GPA can help you apply for good universities. I need take same times for each courses. In addition, actually, I take part in the soccer team in this year, I think high intensity training can exercise willpower.

DeleteThere are three goals that I want to achieve for this year, which is improve my English, being a important role in football team, and learned more things that I'm interesting in.
ReplyDeleteFirstly, I want to improve my English. Sometimes when I try to say something, but I don't know how to say that in English, that is really bothering me. And it is my junior year, I also need to start dealing with sat and toefl.
Secondly, I want to become a important player in the football team, I love sport and serious about it, I always want to be the best when I play.
Thirdly, I also want to learn more things that unfamiliar to me, to enrich my knowledge, things like Spanish, web design or finance, I just have that desire to learn more, I don't want to be stupid.
Since it's my first year in TA, I'm not sure what will be happening in the future. So I hope everything will be "swimmingly". And I get three goals to better myself. Firstly, to join the LAX team. Secondly, to work hard on biology as I find out it is the hardest thing for me right now. And finally, to be much more mature than what I am now.

I have 3 golds that I want to realize. Firstly, I want to get good grade from all of my subject. I am planning to enter collage at US, so I must care about my grade. Making good friends is my second gold. Friends are big part of school life. So meeting many new people and having a good relationship is important. I hope I do that well. Lastly, i wish spend one year with my roommate without any problem. I spend so much time in my room, and if I have problem with my roommate, it will be hard time to live together. So will pay attention about that.
ReplyDeleteThere are three goals that I want to achieve. The first one is read more books. I have already create a library card in the public library. And I have borrowed Lord of the Rings. I think I should finish it as soon as possible cause it's a long story and the due day is not so long.

The last but not the least, I want to make my English better. Including speaking, listening reading and writing. It's maybe the hardest, but I will keep going.
This is my second year at TA. My goals are different with last year. My last year goals were just enjoy American life, but this year I'm a junior. The junior's grade is very important for college, so my first goal is keeping all my grade As. At the same time. I need to be strong, so my second goal is doing sports everyday. I like playing video games, but I can't play video game everyday like last year, so My third goal is playing video game just during weekends. That's all my three goals for this year. It's perfect.
ReplyDeleteThe first week in school is fantastic, I like the way we do, and the important part is I feel happy. And I got a lot of friends, Charles and Zack, I always play with them, but when everything seem is going to better.
ReplyDeleteBut just few days ago Charles and Zack drive home stay's car and sent back to China. I feel bad for them, I hope they still good.
Back to me, this year is the first independent year, I have to do everything by my self, there is no mum and dad protect me any more, and I promise my self that i will be good in USA，don't do the same thing in China any more. And there is 3 goal in my mind, first at the first year pass the ELL, then and want to be happy everyday, and my last goal is get a girl friend! And that will be good, and I hope I can have a good live here!

ReplyDeleteFirst thing first,studying hard,and the reason is that I chose 3 honers classed for this semester which means I’ll able to learn
AP courses in the next year.And that means I can take 3 AP courses when I’m a sophomore!How great it is!
Secondly,I want to join some club,such as,anime club and desktop gaming club.And due to the reason that I’m able to meet more friends and learn more about the US culture by playing with those day students.It’s an excellent opportunity for me to enjoy the school day in TA.
In the end,I also want to buy something for my parents and friends.As far as I know,the electronic products in USA are much cheaper than China,for instance,my friend bought an Alienware laptop which about $3,500 in China recently,after that I found that if he bought the laptop in USA it would saved $1,500 for him!And that was enough for him to bought another laptop!So,after all he got really sad and told me: “Please,help me buy all my stuff in USA,I don’t love China anymore...” Certainly,it was a joke,but it is really cheap for me to buy those things in USA.So,I’m planing to start a “US shopping service”for my family and friends,I believe it will be really interesting!
After all these are all my goals that I’m going to done in this year maybe there are more coming,but no matter how,I will do my best to complete them.
Every student has his goal of study.Some have a great one but some small.To some degree,a goal determines your success in the future.People who have a great goal can probably acquire a big success in his future,while the people who have a small goal may gain a small one.Meanwhile,the time we set our goals is another important factor.This year，my Math-goal is to go beyond most of my classmates and win my onw success.To make this purpose come true,I decided to work hard and never say "NO"to difficulties.And I will also ask my friends and my teacher something about Maths and do extra exercise if I have free time.I believe I can give me a realistic answere in Maths

ReplyDeleteThe second one is think about and have a decision what to do in the future. This is my junior year in TA, and I need to take SAT and TOEFL soon. Then I need to choose the major in university. So this is the most important goal for this year.
The third one is go to another city to play. Open field of vision. Let me become have more curious. That is very important for media in the future.
My first goal is doing well on my first volunteer activity which is in next month. Next goal is get a good grade on sat test. Finally. I hope this time I can stick to the end for losing weight. First one is do well in my sat test,I will recite words everyday.The second is do sport everyday, I will join the dorm soccer team and practice soccer every day foe one and half hours. I have a lot of goals for this year, but the three most importants are: pass all subjects, with only one C at most, do all sport I can (soccer, basket, swim, tennis etc.) and have a great time with new friends.
