Tests. They are a fact of life for students. In May, Juniors at TA will be taking SAT tests. A lot of you have already taken the TOEFL test - at least once. All Sophomores and Juniors took the PSATs in the fall. Of course, you also take tests in your high school subjects, including ELL (though I call them quizzes). So, here's your chance to give your opinion on tests: are they necessary? Do they help you learn? Do they stress you out? Would you learn just as well without them?

I think test is important but I don't like test because test is hard. Test can help me to learn more. It can tell me what I don't know. I can find my problems in the test and after the test, I can study the problems. However, I feel nervous when I have a test. I feel sad if I don't know some questions. I don't like teacher to grade the test. I think many students don't like test. We know it is good for us but we don't want to be nervous. We don't want to have low grade. Test is really hard for me but I think it is important. It is not good to learn things without test.
ReplyDeleteI think we need tests to help us study. Most students don't like tests because sometimes it's difficult and you will get a bad grade and be laughed by others. But it's still necessary for studying and teaching. When I was in China, I never get a good grade always fail and fail and fail. Finally, I really don't care about my grade. I was a bad student and I didn't do my homework at all even I didn't bring any books to my class. The teachers also didn't care about me. However, I changed in summer vacation before I came here. I want to study and study very hard. I'm not afraid of tests. I need to face them. Tests let me know how much knowledge I still don't understand then I can improve myself continuously. So I don't hate them. If I get a good grade I will be happy for the whole day and even more. In this society, we need a rule to figure out a person's ability. Some tests are really hard, but I think more challenges are good for us. If you have nothing to do everyday, your life will be so bored. When you overcome a challenge, happiness you get is more than that you have a good but usual life. It's normal to stress us out. Appropriate stressed is useful. You will work harder. For me, I can't study well without tests.
ReplyDeleteQuizzes and tests are inevitable in our long lifetime. Actually, they are assessment. Quizzes are not only to examine how you’ve learnt in the period, but also to give an opportunity to prove yourself.
ReplyDeleteIn China, there’s a big test, “Gaokao”. We call it Chinese SAT. But we’d love to call it alias, the extremely cruel terrifying severe calamity. Students are struggling 12 years to get a renowned school by day and night. Many students thus commit suicide, and some of them seemed to lose all the nature. You can barely see a 8-year-old kid with naïve jocose word. Instead, you can see him how good to deal with the math problem! This is a devastating doom. It’s hard to imagine what they look like in the future. Dull life without any novelty, a lot of smug in China are therefore made.
However, in this big country of 1.4 billion people, scanty job is really a big deal that we cannot avoid. If you want to live in better life, only way you can do is to study hard to get in a good college. Then depend on a diploma to get a steady job. No matter how cruel it was, it couldn’t change. Gaokao is balancing this overcrowded country. So far I believe it will not change in recent 20 years.
Consequently, test is necessary and potent to me. It’s a beeline to find the mistake of my study. Hence, improving is a good denouement of test. Sometimes there are five or six tests going together. It may overwhelmingly stress me out, but I love to take a try. I love to challenge myself, and this is a way that I can’t miss categorically.
When I see this topic, I think it has a little bit irony to me. I feel something like …quizzing. When I was in Grand 1, my Chinese teacher has asked my classmates and me this question. Although many teachers know the answer and they know tests and quiz are useful and students should have them, but they still ask and still give us tests or some quiz even if they know we don’t like it. This phenomenon always makes me confuse and I really don’t like this 15th journal. This is my real feeling, I hope you will not take any offense at my words.
ReplyDeleteI’m a traditional Chinese high school student. I have experienced a lot of tests or quiz and I have been accustomed to take. I don’t like tests or quiz. But, for the future, I have to experience them. Because of a college entrance examination, Chinese high school students can have a chance to go to a college a university. Because of SAT and TOEIC, I can have a chance to go to an American university or college. They have the same theory.
I think no quiz or tests is impossible. I don’t want to study like other children. But, because I want to give a good grand in a quiz or a test, so I have to ask myself to read and write. Because of exams that I can’t avoid, I can show others to know how good or bad I am. This is only one reason for me to take. So all the student are.
In the world, because of competitions, it has the strong and the weak. Although we know one test or a grand can’t represent everything about a person, but in reality, people always trend to use a result or a grand to judge a person. Yes, it’s unfair and one-sidedness, but everyone can’t change this rule. It is the national rule. It is called “select the superior and eliminate the inferior”. After I have been America, I can test much about this meaning of the rule.
Quizzes and tests are direct ways to assess students' academic records. Teachers and parents can easily know students and their kids' grades. And students can assess themselves by test scores. But most of students would not like have a quiz or test. They are afraid of having a bad score, then their grades will go down. And sometimes a test can't reflect students' complete grades. Some students always get nerves while they are taking a test, so they can't do their best in the test, and we can't define them to bad students. So I agree that quizzes and tests are necessary for students. And students should regard them as take-home assignments, instead of avoiding them. By the way, students are stress out quizzes and tests. The stress makes them study harder.
ReplyDeleteTest is an important part of our study, it a good way for us to observe yourself how you learn during this class. But in fact, I am not really like taking tests. Every student may have the same thought to mine. Through we does not like it well, we also must take tests, It helps a lot for our study, it’s necessary, not only because it’s what teacher asks us to do, but also a way to prove yourself to your friends, teachers, parents and mainly yourself. It surely helps me learn, I can know what section is my weak section, I can correct it and keep the right answer on my mind. It always can’t stress me out, but some conclusive tests will make me feel nervous because I can feel the importance of those tests. I don't think I can learn as well without them. Sometimes if you wander in the class, you might miss some information, you can find out what you’ve missed through tests. It also can help us keep stress in daily life. After a test, you will get a score either good or bad. If you get a good score, it will encourage you to working hard in your future life. If you get a bad one, it will transform into the power to push you study and get a better score in your next test. We can’t learn just as well without tests. It’s our duty to take tests and a way to learn as well.

ReplyDeleteAlthough I really don't like tests, I think they are necessary for us. There are tens of thousands of students applying to American Universities also including international students. The problem for international students is that they accepted different education systems from different countries. It will be hard to judge by Universities. Also different states in the U.S. have different eductation system. SAT and TOEFL test help University pick their students more easier. I think these tests help me improve my English skills when I practiced them. But it make me be stressful indeed even hard to fall in sleep at night sometimes. I believe students still learn well without these tests but these help Universities select us.
Many students don’t like tests. They think tests are hard and it’s like a nightmare for them. Although I don’t like tests, I think test is very helpful for students to understand the knowledge. Tests can help us to deeply understand the things we learned and review them. It could be a good way for some bad students to learn the knowledge. Tests are giving pressure to the students and make them focus on study and review. This can let students to master what they learned better than before. Also, when there’s a test, it may make me want to study hard to prevent fail that class and forced me to study the knowledge that I don’t really get it. I can also give me a chance to see if I understand and can use what I learn very skillfully. It is a very good way to see where is my weakness. After all, test is a good thing that helps students to learn and master the knowledge better and shows where they still need to improve.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I really don't want to say that, tests are necessary. Ås a student for sure I hate tests but the fact is it's one good way to measure how well students learnt and how much effort they put into the subject. The test obviously pushed a lot of lazy students. But somehow in modern society there is an issue - standardize tests basically control a student's fate, and students are stressed out by them tests. Test became too important in the life of a student. That is not the way it supposed to be, tests should not be a tool for students to compete with each other, they are supposed to help you learn. Schools and organization judge a student almost solely by their standardize tests result. Colleges always stress about the importance of all around development when it comes to the topic of admission, but still, at the end of the day, a student who is good at standardize tests always out-compete the one who is not, even though they work equally hard. The meaning of tests is twisted nowadays. There many things we cannot see about a student by just a test score, a number. Students with different talents should all be rewarded, not just the one who is good at testing skill. Yes, standardize tests force students to review and do work, but it shouldn't be everything.
ReplyDeleteI think the tests can't not be avoid. As we all know, we can’t know all of people by a test, even it is long or exhaustive. But if we did a lot of research, the only result is our cost is more than tests. So, in this way, we don’t need to do that because the basic workers are not necessary to do that, because the outcome we need is these workers can do the stuff we want. And the basic thing is easier than others, so there are many workers can do. The tests are the most convenient way to figure out these people. That’s why I think tests are prerequisite.
ReplyDeleteFor the students, I think the good thing for students are the grade, tests can let students working hard because they want their GPA keep in a high grade. Whatever tests can give students what, or students will be sad because they messed up their tests, but these are not really hurt their life, if they are in schools, they still have chances to fix them. That’s what I think about tests on students.
Test can see a student how hard student learned in the school. It is easier to let parents and teachers know your grade. Test is a big standard of your grade for college if you can go to the college. And test can encourage you work harder if you didn’t get a grade you expect. You can see which parts of subject are weak and strong, then you can improve them until getting better. Also it will help you to know that how much knowledge you have and which expert you will attend when you go to the college. But test also gives too much stress to student, getting too much nervous so that student can’t give play to take test and parents blame them that didn’t work hard. Some students even give up the studying and college because they are afraid of test and parents blaming. Also test is not able to balance a student’s grade.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I think that text is a good way to students. Students can see your grade if you work hard at school and make some conclusions where you need to make up. And encouraging yourself make you better than used to be. If you did a good job on the text, you will get much confidence in your life. So test is a good way to see how students are
We have already taken lots of tests from the primary school to high school. I think it’s normal thing for us. But in facts, I think tests are necessary. The reasons are as follow. First of all, it’s the most effective way for teacher to check students how much do they learn. If most students get wrong answer for one question, the teacher need to teach this part of knowledge again. It will let the students clearly for this part of knowledge. In addition to that, I think it’s a best way to help students know what flaws do they have. Then they can focus on doing this section, and figure out whole problems as soon as possible. Sometimes, the tests will stress me out. Because, when I can’t understand what teacher said in the class, I have to spend my spare time figuring them out. For me, I think I can’t learn well without them. I want to use them to improve myself and make me better.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, test is important but a test can’t always shows in Examination paper, a test should have to show as all kinds of types. Because test is want to show what we learn or what we get in this semester. They are some reason to explain my idea.
First of all, I think we can use a project to instead a test. For example, a computer lesson can use an examination paper or a project for students’ finally grade. In the examination paper teacher can give students a question like this ” what is the largest 10-bit unsigned binary integer converted to a decimal number?” then student will write down “1023”. But the students who do well in the examination paper just can mean they are good at to write down the correct answer from the book, it can’t mean they are good at to do a real program. If teacher give his student a project to finish it would better, if you want to make a good project you must know the knowledge that you study in class, it also need you to know how to control it. So in some lesson a project is better than an examination paper. Sometimes a project can be better than an examination paper.
Second, I think in some lesson daily score can be important than a finally test, for example in our “recreational fitness” class a daily sore can show more we get than a finally test, because some people can be lazy in the daily class, but they will work vey hard in the finally test, but this class’s main idea is want us to exercise and have a strong body, so a daily score may better than a finally test’s score. Sometimes a daily can be better than a finally test.
Last but not least, in some class to let student make a research may better than give them an examination paper. For example, in science class to let student do a research than write a SA can show what student know in this semester better, because they need to know why those change will happen and how to find out those change. So a research can be better than a examination paper.
To sum up they have a lot of kinds test, but they just have aim “to show what you get or what you learn in the class”. So test is important but we can use more kinds of type to show it, to get the best way show what student learn and get.
Tests are necessary for me because they help me to learn and they also check how well I understand what teacher teaches me in the class. Tests stress me out a lot. Especially science and history tests, I really want to cry when I know I will have those tests. I think I won't learn well with out tests because normally I never go over what i've learned in the class. I think study in America is better than Thailand. When I was in Thailand I never focused in the class, I always talked to friends and eat. When I know I will have tests I never stress out, but when I received the grade oh my god! I want to cry as much as I can. I couldn't choose classes I wanted to learn back then, the school will choose for students and we have about 15 subjects to study. Most of the students failed at least 2 subjects, but my friends the my group and I failed 7 subjects or more every year. That is why I chose to come to the U.S. I study much more harder since I came here because it is expensive here and I don't want my family feel bad because of my grade and spend money for nothing. I hope as time goes by I will improve my english so I don't feel really stress out when tests are coming.
ReplyDeleteAs a student, I think there is no way we can avoid tests or quizzes. Because they are the best ways figure out what is the weaknesses during the terms. But I don’t think they are good ideas for you choose what subjects you like, neither since or arts. If I think I am interesting in certain subject but I fall the text of that subject. That is really turns me down. Maybe never want to touch it again. Anyway, tests no only just give we the list about the weaknesses, but also let we feel the pressure. Making us move forward. Life isn’t complete without pressure. Stress out is a bad sigh to over adjust our minds. Maybe the pressure didn’t cause bad results in USA. It did in Asia. So many high schools students suicide when the entrance examination is coming in Asia. No matter, how awful tests are. Personally, I wouldn’t study so hard if we don’t have tests. Many people don’t want to send time on doing things are boring and stress out. But that is what life is. we have to improve ourselves and looking ahead.
ReplyDeletei am going to take the SAT in May. i am not ready for them because i didn't know anything about it before. it s not going to be my first exam. i took igcse last year and it was very stressful. so i am kind of ready for it.i think that they shouldn't really ask for all those exams. i think they should also ask for the grades you got in the previous school years. it helps me study and learn more when i study for a big exam. so it might be good or bad but the fact is that it really helps studying
ReplyDeleteNearly all of foreign students had taken part in the ETS exams, such as TOEFL, SAT. In truth it is necessary to create a basic exam to judge the English level of foreign students due to guarantee they will understand basic English during their daily life. However, is it compulsory? On my view, it is a supporting approach instead of a required way. Foreign students could choose whether they can pass the language by their ETS score. Some students may be easy to adapt the environment although their language skill is not good enough. Some students may be fear of the exam so they can’t do their best on the exam. Today, the ETS score is required if someone want to register the school, most students have to take part in the Exam at least once. I believe that it is more commerce than education. Most ETS fee is too high to pay for it, especially in some poor country. The stress of economy hinders some genius students to go abroad to have a better education. I have to conceded that ETS exams promote most students study English harder in some part, but if it is canceled, most students have to learn English as before due to they need to survive in American.

Although I don’t like the tests, I still think they are very important for us.Test is a way to testing your study in these days.Test also can be an ambition, they can tell you what you need to improve. More importantly, test can be a way to improve your confidence. For example, you get a good score in SAT, you will feel that your English is better than before, and when you talking with others, you will feel confident.

Our school life can’t without tests, but I think we can reduce the times of tests, using the process of study as a part of test is better!
I don’t think tests are necessary. Some students pay more attention to test, so they don’t do well on their normal works. They just spend much time before a test. Then they can get a good grade. So I think Test is unfair. Some students work hard before a test, but they have too much stress before a test. Then they get a bad grade. And a SAT test is a huge challenge for student. SAT is especially difficult for abroad students. Because the SAT vocabularies are also difficult for Local students. Some students work really hard on their study. They never skip a class. They get all A for courses. But they don’t get good grade on their SAT tests. Then They lose the opportunities to go to a good university.
ReplyDeleteI agree student can't study without test, test is a important way to consolidate what you learn. But i don't think we should have lots of test. For example, we shouldn't have to take TOEFL test if we already take SAT test, these two test is almost the same, it just waste our time and energy.
ReplyDeleteOne thing more, test should become easier, it should test something really useful and important, test should not have some really difficult examination questions. If a student get a bad grade although he did review, he will lose confidence and feel bad on this subject.

ReplyDeleteTOEFL and SAT are the exam we must take for colleges. it can promote us to study hard, and it helps me to improve my english grammar, but it's also make me in trouble. i don't have enough time to prepare taking the SAT. there are too many words to remember and some of them are even hard to native students. and reading is hard to me too, the long article with difficult grammar and words, it makes me feel sleepy when i reading the article. some people are not good at taking the exam, thy will feel nervous when they taking the exam. so the score of the exam can't shows how well the student is. i think it's necessary to take the exam but school shouldn't judge the student from exam too much.
In my opinion, tests are really important with my student life but I don’t really like them. They make me feel so tired and stress me out because I have to spend a lot of time on preparing for them. However, because I have to learn many subjects in one semester, so I can’t remember everything of each subject and I think, take a test is a good opportunity for me to review and system everything that I learnt about that subject before. Beside that, tests help me know how well I understand about the lessons and show me which part I should spend more concentration to improve it. Finally, I think I will forget the lessons that I learnt soon if I don’t have to take a test for that subject in a class. It’s really bad.
ReplyDeleteTests are the way to show what did we learn, and how much did we learn. When people starts to grow up from a baby or a child, there must already have lots of tests are waiting for you. In my opinion, tests are necessary because they are the clearest way to find that did you get the knowledge. As a student, you need to take tests because you need to learn these knowledge for your future, and when you leave school, the society needs people to do some contributions. of course, tests are not the only way to prove that you are a skilled person, but without tests I think nobody can behave themselves to learn. Everything has their good side and bad side. The bad side of the tests is to stress people out. I still remember that once I went to school to take my math final exam, and when I step to the stairs, I almost fell down because the stress is full of my brain, and nerves makes my four limbs lost control. However, I got a good grade on that exam, but I still afraid of tests. The good news is that although i am nervous about the tests, I also excited about that because I can find how much did I learn from the test. Of course, when I did a good job, I will be really proud of myself. In fact, most time tests are not the criminals which stress us out, we are nervous because we did not very focus on our study. Careless work makes bad grades, so if we are focus on study and do best we can do, the stress emotion will disappear. Tests is use for test knowledge, and I also think sometimes it can use for learning. Every time we receive the back paper, there often have some mistakes on it. These mistakes show the point that you didn't get. When you see that mistake, you will realize what should you get help from the teacher or friends. In the end, you might did not get a good grade, but you get the knowledge. Tests have a long history. Many years ago, there already have the trace of tests. Because of the test, we have the goal to achieve, to prove who are we. Without these tests, life will be much easier, but that means we lose a idea to explain ourselves.
ReplyDeleteIn China, between middle school and high school, there is an important test. The high school you attend depends on how well your score on this test. The most important part of learning is testing. During the test ,you maybe nervous. Your grade may suffer. In America, they do not take many tests. American teachers know that one test can not represent your whole year's knowledge.
ReplyDeleteAt First, I have to say tests and quiz are important for me because they are usually help me to know what I am not good at, and how many knowledge should I improve. If I don’t get good grade in a math test, it represent I don’t try my best to study math knowledge.
ReplyDeleteI think the tests and quiz in American are easier than the tests and quiz in China, (In China, the test and quiz are the only standard to evaluate if you are a good student or a bad student, so the tests and quiz are so hard in China) so I don’t think tests and quiz give me any pressure, they can conversely help me to study more better and encourage me to study hard!
I still believe if you are a good student, you can get good test grade because it can represent your study attitude and perseverance, and big tests and quiz can become my targets in my school life. I believe the universities care about students tests grade and SAT grades because they want to know if you have good study attitude and ability, and study just a small part in my whole life, so I think I must try my best to conquer this part of my life!
I don't like tests but I think they are necessary. There is no way to check the academic achievement except tests.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they are help me learn. Home works help me a lot, but test don't. They are just for checking. Tests stress me out. I want to get in good school so I have to get good grade. That makes me nervous and tired. I feel pressured before taking tests
I don't think the tests are necessary. we can use it to know how good or bad on our grade. I don't think the texts can help me to learn. And it give me a lot pressure drying the studying time. But actually texts can help us know what is our weak point and we can fix it later.

make plans for their life. And have a good life. For us the international
students we should take the TOELF teats before we come to the U.S.
we can know how well our English is and what kind of school and what
grade can we go. Tests are very important. It let we know the way that

text and homework stress me out how the society pretend that teenagers be happy and without stress when in most schools the journey finish at five, after you have sports if you choose to do one and after dinner and take a shower one has to study and do homework?. here im not thaat stress that i was in spain when everyday i had to go to sleep at 2 am because i had to finish my homework and study and that was the only reason because i didn't have my phone. o dont think a test in which you have to put all your knowledge and also it can determines your future is a good idea, you can have been an excellent student all year and for a reason have a headache or not be your day so you do it bad in the test.

Actually, every student hates tests, but tests are very important to us. Testing is the best way to know how the students learn in the classes. When we get the results of our tests, we can know what we should do in the future. For example, if your test result is bad, you should fix the wrong answers on your test paper, and study harder in the future. Why does every student hate the tests? I think that tests always make students nervous, and if you get a bad test result, the other people will laugh at you, and your parents and teacher will be mad at you. Everybody has his or her goal of the life, but if you don't face the tests, you won't achieve your goal of your life, because you don't know the weaknesses that you have. I can understand that everybody is afraid of the tests, but just study hard in the classes, and don't think about so much about the tests, you will have a successful school life.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I do not like test, I think test is important. Most of students do not like taking test because test is hard and they need to memory what they need to test. I think most of students do not like to memory what they are learned, so am l. I think test will help us study and it can tell us what we do not know. In China, there is a big test. Students need to study really hard to take this test and they just have one chance. If you fail in this test, you need wait to next June to take again. For me, I will be very nervous to take a big test.

And with this mood, we cant get good grade again, but in the other hand, test is important to us, test can help us to find something they don't understand. But this is only for people who are positive. In my onpin, test is important to us. It can help us learning better, and we can figure out what we need to do. So I think test is very important for us.
Now the teachers like to know how hard the students in learning .But most students are often afraid of it and they often find many ways to cheat in the examination.Though they know it's good ,they do it to deal with the teachers.
ReplyDeleteI think we should work harder to do well in the subjects,so we are believe in ourlives.We will not cheat in the examination .But the teachers should not regard the iexamination as the only level to know about how hard the students learn ,They should pay attention to helping the students to imporove their study .

Tests are the most fair method to demonstrate everyone's capacity up to now. Neither less or more tests can inspire most students to study harder and better, because tests will put pressure on them very effectively. That's why i think tests are necessary.
ReplyDeleteTests do easily stress students out, i am no exception, but it helps us focus on study far better. In addition, it is very efficient to find out our weakness of study through a test.
Also, tests motivate students to set up more plans on study. For example, all sophomores have to take PSAT as all Juniors must take the SAT!! A challenge like SAT can encourage every student to study hardest to fight for it.
However, tests can't be neither less or more. Limited but enough tests are the best way to inspire student to improve scores. Otherwise students will lose confidence because they get too many bad grades and they are lack of break.
I think we learn better with tests and quizzes.
This year i took 2 SAT and 2 Toefl. Also i took an exam for collage. I did well on it and i accepted from a collage that i wanted. But during that time i had to study hard and keep my motivation up. A lots of my friends could not do that even they were so intelligence they could not make collages in their dreams. It was because of the system. I think it should be special exams for everyones ability instead of one test. So education is different for everyone.
ReplyDeleteIn Nowadays, many high student need their SAT score to apply the college, but I do not think this is a good idea for all high school student. Because I think this test is a little bit hard to some students that want to go the college. College is a place that can improve student’s personal qualities, but colleges sometimes use more focus on students’ SAT score. This is not a good phenomenon. So I do not think SAT is necessary.

I will take SAT test next year.SAT it's very difficult for me, and I never take SAT classes so I will learn SAT words and take SAT class in this summer vacation. I think tests are very important for me because we need tests to make sure do I understand from those classes.

ReplyDeleteTests and quizzes have played an important role in the worldwide education. Some people say that students no longer need to have tests and quizzes. Others believe that tests and quizzes are still essential. I shall discuss both these advantages and disadvantages before giving my opinion.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, the key difference between test and quiz is that quiz is a short small term test, which is supposed to be responded to quickly, whereas test is a procedural exam which requires time. It can be easily seen that before moving to the new chapter teachers usually give students a test which enables the teachers to identify gaps in their students’ knowledge on the subject and examine them for the next step. Moreover, test is considered to be a helpful opportunity for students to have a review after each chapter. For example, students have to prepare for the test to get good grade which produces better organization of knowledge and encourage students to study.
However, testing in class may take time away from other critical class room activities, such as lectures, discussion and demonstrations. For instance, tests often take fifty minutes for students to complete whereas quizzes usually take twenty minutes. Furthermore, retrieval practice through testing may produce ‘‘rote’’ learning of a superficial sort, as if the student can parrot back the information but not really understand it or know it in a deep fashion.
In my opinion, testing in school is usually done for purposes of assessment, to assign students grades. Although I am not a fan of tests, I believe testing is a great way to examine an individual’s knowledge regarding concepts. To be honest, it brings huge advantages to me. I think the SAT tests ,which are conducted to help the authorities to select the candidates, are necessary.
In conclusion, as long as students receive feedback on their exams, I see no major drawbacks in using tests as a learning mechanism.
I think sat test and TOEFL test are very important for students. I never take sat or TOEFL, but I saw my lots of friends try it. The math is very easy for Chinese students, but the trouble is English. It's really hard. I think all the test is very important, whether sat TOEFL big test or daily test. They can help us make a goal. If not have test. I don't think I will learn hard.
ReplyDeleteNow the teachers like to know how hard the students in learning .But most students are often afraid of it and they often find many ways to cheat in the examination.Though they know it's good ,they do it to deal with the teachers.

I think test is necessary for me. Although test cannot test all points. But it can prove the level of us and bring the pressure for us too.

ReplyDeleteI think these quizzes are necessary for people who are going to come back next year. I think you are not going to learn while doing them, but I think they can help you to know how is your level. For me, these quizzes don't help me for anything because I'm not going to come back next year, and in Spain everything is different, so for me, I think I shouldn't take these quizzes, it's unnecessary, but it's not my decision. Also I think these quizzes stress the people out because they are four or five hours in only a day, too much. Also I think that you have one more year to improve, specially if you are from another country because you have one more year to improve your english, so that's why I think these quizzes are not that important.
ReplyDeleteTests are good way to show students' ability，but aren't the best one. A good test can let teacher know your sentence organization、article idea、calculation and crisis management. On the other side，tests are very easy too make out. Teachers only need to design questions、print it and correct it.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments on tests. Most of you believe that they are necessary, even if you don't especially like them. Some of you say you wouldn't study as hard or learn as well without tests, so they motivate you. I guess tests are here to stay.
ReplyDeleteI think the tests are actually necessary for students, though it can not help us to learn some thing.....any test include sat test for me is just a way to find out how much can you do at academic, and it is obvious that test can not help us learn more.... it can just stress us out so that we will read books to learn more....but is still necessary. Because we need something to find out our ability so that it can help us to find a good college or university which is best for us. Because the best college or university for us is not the most famous of the hardest one, but the one which can fit us~i think, it is necessary to have test like sat or toefl, but I think we really need to decrease some quiz or test during high school...because most of them does not matter with our real ability

Tests are always harder than what u learn. and, just like math, it is so easy when i study it in the class, i can understand in the class, and also i do reviews before the test, but, i can not get good greats in the tests.

As a student, quizzes and tests are a big and important part in our life. We experienced diverse quizzes and test from the primary school to the high school. Right now, as a junior student, I have to face the SAT and TOFEL test, they can help me to enter the ideal university. In my opinion, I think quizzes and tests are necessary. They can not only check how much effort you pay in this period, but also give you an opportunity to prove yourself. When you get bad grades on the quizzes or tests, you ought to focus on this part of knowledge, and try you best to figure out the all problems that you have. The tests are definitely stress me out. Because I need to spend more time reviewing, and do a variety of exercises to let me have more confidence to face the exams.

But I also hate the test. Sometimes I didn't get a good grade on test, some of my friends will laugh me and show me their grade. No one can always do well on test, although they study hard. ReplyDeleteI think tests are necessary to me, tests can help teachers know how do the students study and teachers can give more helps to me. Tests also can let me know some knowledge they acquires is unstable. I will work harder to improve my studies. So I think tests help me learn. But I do not like tests because they stress me out. If my teacher says I will have a test I will feel very worried about it. I need to prepare it and afraid about my score. But if I do not have any tests, maybe I will not learn just as well as I have it. Maybe I will not work that hard. I worried about tests and they can let me improve my studies.
ReplyDeleteI think test is important but I really don't like test, because test is so bored to me. Test can help me to know what did lose from class. It let make myself better and better. I can find where did I miss in the test and after the test, I can study the those problems. However, I feel nervous when I have a test. I feel sad if I don't know some questions. I don't like teacher to grade the test, but I can understood that. I know many students don't like test. We know it is the best way to show us what should we do in rest of semester, but we don't want to be nervous because of the text. We don't want to have low grade in our powerschool. Test is really dislike things for me but I think it is important. It doesn't have a good to check what did you learn things without test.
ReplyDeleteI think quizzes are necessary, but there are too many quizzes, tests, exams in school. People invented tests because they want to use them to evaluate how the student learned but in fact, people learn nothing will try to pass the tests by some bad ways like copy others tests. This will not improve or evaluate the reality of their ability. SAT is really necessary because that's the best way to decide the right university for that student, but too many tests in high school is really unnecessary. A very important point is that people always forget what they learned after the tests. A very famous teacher in China never give tests or homework to his class because he knows his class will learn by themselves or they just won't work. You can't force someone to learn by homework tests.
