ReplyDeleteI am not looking forward to 12/21 because it is a special day to all human. If it is true as the Maya Predicted, it will mark the end of the human society. It can be the end of our lives. Our planet Earth will not be affected too much, it can keep developing, like the time the dinosaurs all dead out. Maybe when we are extinct, some more intelligent organisms will occur. Also we maybe will survive and the story about 2012 will just be a joke to us. Actually, I am going back to China on 12/20. As long as the prediction is not true, my life will continue to go on. I think if people do not stop polluting the environment, I would rather die immediately with all the humans because having a extremely dirty place to live is more miserable than death.
ReplyDeleteWinter is the most beautiful season in my hometown. All roofs, roads and ground will cover with snow. And workers will cut many pieces of ice from a river. Then sent it to the side of main streets and square. They will carve them into something very porcelain. By the way, they will put the LED into the ice. So, in the night, it will be bright. We have a special place named The International Ice & Snow Festival of Harbin. All the buildings in the exhibition are made for ice and snow. And at the night, the exhibition will be bright with the lights in ice. You can try to Google it, it could be interesting.
ReplyDeletei love winter best because winter is the coldest weather. i love eat ice cream in winter because i thought that was so excited. the most popular thing is there has snow in winter. i like snow, snow is white, snow is clean, i like feel it when it falling down on my skin. i like that feeling because it makes me get more energy. I'd like to take a walk at night, and the most strong wind always coming at night. and another thing that i loved is when the weather is cold enough, the river will freeze. i like ice because it looks shiny.
ReplyDeleteThis day has a longest night of the year. when this day is over the night will become short. when this time come, in my hometown many "night cat" will very excited because they can have the longest night to have fun . what is "night cat"? this appellation is call someone live in the night has the nightlife. The winter solstice is the happiest day of Chengdu mutton soup boss, but also the people of Chengdu both love and hate this day. In this day all of the mutton will sold out, but always has some people don't have the mutton to eat.
ReplyDeleteI believe Winter is the most beautiful season in my mind. I love snow. The heavy snow I met There was a heavy snow some days ago,and the day when it begin to snow just was my birthday by chance.What's more,it was the first time I saw snow during my birthday.How excited I am!
ReplyDeleteIt snowed heavily all the day.And the whole world became white. All white save the river, that marked its course by a winding black line across the landscape; and the leafless trees, that against the leaden sky now revealed more fully the wonderful beauty and intricacies of their branches.
I love winter because I prefer cold weather. It is really nice to take a walk in the morning during winter time. It will make me get rid of tiredness. Also I love Snow.Although there isn't much snow in Shanghai. I love stay outside while it is snowing. That is why I love winter!!!
ReplyDeleteThere are four seasons in a year, each season has different sceneries, and the winter is my favorite. I was born in Dalian north of China. Every year will snow. On December the snow will very heavy, it seems people came to a quiet fairy world. The river will freeze in the winter, so we can skating on the river. Anyway, I love white snow, I love the winter although it's very cold. By the way I hope Mayan Prediction is not true. So 12/21 will not the end of the world.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to12/21, because the Maya predicted that it will be the last day of the world, the last day of this human society. However, it doesn’t mean that i hope the Earth to be destroyed. About winter, I love winter because I can wear many clothes and stay in the air conditioning so that I can feel very warm. When I am out, I can play snowball with friends, enjoy the beauty of the white snow. Winter is a special season, all the plants sleeping in this season and waiting for the Spring coming and show their beauty to people.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen that a beach could be covered with snow before. Because I used to live in the south part of China, it is absurd to think about that there could be a shiny, white world overlap with the ocean. Although the winter night is dark, long and cold like the hell, dorm is still warm enough. These days are the longest day what I have never experienced before. Well, the end of the world is just coming, why don't we just have fun. Anyway, no matter how I loved snow before, I will never have the curiosity to touch it anymore.
ReplyDeleteAdmittedly, Stonehenge gives me a great interest in mystery. I would rather believe that they built it because of their intelligence and curiousness about future. It is always top of the list of my viewpoint. As winter comes approaching, the weather would remind me of the Maya civilization. It also makes me reminisce Shanghai. Although the sun will show up late, my soul of working hard would never go down. 2012's special winter journey destines something. Moreover, I like the atmosphere of suspense and mystery. It makes me think. All in all, there is little doubt that more and more people will come to realize this year’s special date.
ReplyDeleteAlthough winter means cold weather, I love it all the same. I think winter is a beautiful season, especially when it snows. Snowflakes fall down naughtily. They fall on branches of trees, on roofs of houses and on wheat fields. Soon the whole earth will be dressed in white. Everything is shining in the sun. Every time it snows, I will remember an old saying, "Winter has come, can spring be far away?'
ReplyDeleteWinter in my city isn't cold like here, nor snow like here. So snowing and white roofs are kind new to me, but I like it, although many people have been telling me that this is just a beginning, I won't like it when I know better. I still look forward winter here, but I also kind scare about this winter. I know many people think that 2012 is just a rumor, experts have clear the rumor, but I'm a kind person who don't really buy anything form governments nor those so called experts, I don't think we are all going to die if we don't get on the boats before Dec.21, but I also don't think that we human can live in this planet with safety and natural resources forever, I know this is going to happen someday, I know this isn't going to happen this year, but this isn't just a one-day-thing, so I'm kind worry about things before the real end of the world.
ReplyDeleteStonehenge was made between 2500 BC to 2000 BC. That time people use it as a calender to record the setting and raising of sun. December 21 it's beginning of winter. It the shortest day that sun appears. Sun raises very late and sets early. So it can be a dark and long night in that day. Winter is the greatest season I think. Sunshine in winter is especial beautiful and soft. I enjoy wearing a coats and walking outside in winter. It must be a special winter this year, in Mayan prophecy December 21 in 2012 is the ending of the world. Now the day is coming soon someone may suspect it, someone may look forward to it, or something. Whatever it must be an impressed winter. It is the first winter that I'm not in my homeland, I'm so excited to welcome it.

When I see the tree leaf become yellow I know the winter is coming.When my mother tell me put on your coat, I know winter is coming. Now, the winter is coming. This is a cold winter but I can not feel cold because my friends, my teacher are very concern me.

I don`t like winter because it is too cold I need put on my coat and too much clothes. I will feel clumsy like a bear but I like play snow with my friends.It is a good idea.
So winter is a good season but I don`t like this season.
i like winter and i really like snow . It sucks that there is still no ssnow in this place. I hate this weather wich is right now. It's cold windy. With snow it will be much better, i feel more cozy when there is alot of snow. I like summer more and i love sun. The feelings which sun give me are amazing, i feel so alive and free. Each season has it's own miracles !

I really like the snow, but in my hometown, i had never seen the snow or touch them before, What a pity!.But i hate cold, in fact,i believe the cold is caused by the awful wind! I like winter, because i will have reason to stay indoor and not become freezing. Otherwise, i can sit on the sofa and relaxe. Furthermore, i could enjoy a cup of hot Cappuccino,and read a book.That is so pleasant! Also,during winter, i could play snowboard, but i believe i should learn to protect myself first, and not become a big snowball. Anyway, i like winter, but i like summer most.

In my country doesn't have snow, so I haven't seen snow before. in winter, i like the feelings of lying under a cozy duvets. it's relaxing. or i can drink a cup of hot cocoa before go to bed. especially, there is no school or homework or project. besides, i doesn't like when time past so fast, it make me feel the vacation is so short and we have to turn back to school. but it doesn't matter, Christmas is coming and vacation is arrived!!!!! i can't wait to go to visit my cousin in seattle.
ReplyDeleteI like playing snow, that is why I live the winter.In my hometown,I have seen the snow for 3 to 4 times these year, and I felt so excited to play the snow with my friends.By the way,the winter solstice (12/21) marks the beginning of the winter season.after that day,we will have the longest day in our life,which means we can spend more time on our sleepy,what a good thing for us!The important reason is we can spend more time with our family, I would love to do that!
ReplyDeleteI really like winter and it is the most beautiful and attractive season. I love snow and I can play snow in my hometown every year. The winter solstice such as a magic and it will happen be the shortest day of the year. I remember I went to MoHe which is the most north part in China last year during that day and I saw the northern aurora. That was amazing and surprised me. And I am looking forward see it once again if mayan's prediction not exist. Winter is a magic.
ReplyDeletewinter is one of my favorites seasons of the year, in my country (Spain) the winter is not as cold as in U.S.A, and you will never see snow there, that is why I like so much the winter here, cause you can play and enjoy the snow; but in fact I like winter just as much as I like the other three seasons , each one have their own magic things, that everyone should like as much as i do
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, I really liked winter, because I lived in the city and in the city, it would snow more frequently than in other places in China. Whenever it snowed, I would be with my friends making snowmen, and having snowball fights. However, when I grew up I came to dislike winter. I came to dislike winter because the city I used to live in had very cold winter and the weather was so dry. So, every day we had to wear thick clothes. If we didn't do this, we would easily catch a cold. However, over the past few years, it rarely snowed. Having no snow, I rarely had an excuse to hang out with my friends. In Saco however, I like the winter months here because if often snows.
ReplyDeleteActually, I don’t like winter. It is so cold that I prefer staying at home to going outside. There are fewer people outside in the winter than that in the summer. So it begins to wound down. Also, people always have to wear heavy coats so that people’s movement seems clumsy and uncoordinated. In that picture, the winter makes the landscape a little dolorous. In addition, my family live in the warmer place, but it is colder in Saco than my hometown. So I have to adapt to the climate in Saco. Winter makes me feel uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy winter, I like to take a walk in snow and playing snow with my friends . But in Beijing we can not see snow often because there are not much snow day in Beijing . In another hand basketball season is in winter, so I always look forward to winter coming. And winter is also a very beautiful season. I really like to have a cup of tea and enjoy the beautiful snow outside the window.
ReplyDeleteActually, my hometown is not often snows. The climate in Maine is very cold, it is much colder than my hometown. But i love the cloud in the sky in winter here. The sky is very blue and the cloud is very white. I feel very warm when i look up the sun, especially in winter. I heard people often go skiing in winter, i am looking forward to enjoying skiing one day.

ReplyDeleteBeing honest I don't like winter, mainly the winter we will have here in Maine, because will be so cold, we will just stay inside, and will be more difficult to move from one place to another. However, I try to see the good side of the winter.
ReplyDeleteI saw snow just 2 times in my life, and it happened during the last month. So, the winter will be a really nice opportunity to me to enjoy snow, doing "snow man", "snow ball war" and "snow angel!". And as it will be really cold, I think will be a time to stay inside with friends, staying together. These are my expectations for the winter.
I like the winter because i am from Russia. Winter is my favorite season. I like when it is a lot of snowing outside.Actually i don't like when it is cold because you can't go out. Sun day is going to be shorter and we don't have a lot of time to do our homework and play games but we have more time to sleep.Every one should enjoy the winter.

ReplyDeleteI love winter time. In Russia, we get a lot of snow. Sometimes the temperature is very cold. Now it is 39 celsius below zero in my city. I Don't like the fact that sun starts to stay up later. When it is dark outside, I feel very sleepy and tired.
I like winter here better than in my city. The weather is not getting very cold. We aslo have snow days and it is a good chance to skip a school day. Winter is not my favorite season. I used to like a winter because in Russia we played hockey only during winter time.
I am waiting for the summer. I hope winter won't last for a long time.

DeleteI don't like winter because I hate cold. Every time when winter comes, I have to take those stupid heavy clothes on. I can't play outside, my feet are freezing, I have hard time to get up in the morning. I was trying so hard to get up every morning, but my body just out control. Before I leave I will tangle a long time about wear clothes, if I wear too much I will be hot at school, if I wear too less I will be shake on the way to school. Although I don't like winter, I like snow. How wonderful if snow shows in summer!
ReplyDeleteI love winter with snow. In the winter, there is snow, in my country. But not like Russia or here. I don't like cold weather without snow. I am waiting for snow here. Also I can play winter games with my friends. Vacation is starting soon. It is going to be great. But I want to say that here is dark at 4-5 pm. But in our country, it is dark at 7-8 pm. I am so happy that days are becoming more and more longer. And 22nd december is my birthday. I can celebrate both thing. There is new year in the winter. I think that everyone must enjoy winter, and also all seasons. Welcome Winter! :)
ReplyDeleteWinter comes, i'm so excited. In my hometown I haven't seen some snow or just little. Now I can see snow everywhere! It feels so harmony if snow flying around you and everything is covered with white. It will not be so hot and will may be a completely different world. Especially this year the Dec 21st has the other meaning. As Mayan predicted that this year Dec 21st will be the end of the earth. Let's see what will happen that day!

Also I like walking in snow day and play snow with my friends. But I don't want to feel cold, because I like to hang out with my friends. I don't wanna stay at home all day. ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I don't like the winter here very much because it's too cold for a southern guy, though my hometown is chill in winter, too. But in my mind winter is a happy season. The Christmas, The new year, and the Spring Festival. All of these happy time are in winter. What's more, winter is a beautiful season, especially in the snow time. And I believe one of the important meanings of winter is making people understand how warm the home is.
ReplyDeleteThe winter is coming. New England greeted biggest snow yesterday, in this season. For me it is awesome! Skiing and snowboarding are best part of winter. I'd love to hang out with my friends and make up a snow fight. After that we can make a snowman. Don't lay on your bed on the snow day. Why not enjoy it? although I have to shovel the snow on the back yard but it is "best winter power training" isn't it?

ReplyDeleteit is cold and dry outside. The wind often blows strongly. The days are shorter and the nights are longer. Many animals go to sleep. They will sleep for a long time till the spring comes. People don’t like to go outside. They have to wear heavy coats, scarves and gloves. But children like to be outside. Because it often snows. There is snow around. There is ice on the ground. Children can throw snowballs, make the snowmen. Oh, look. What a surprise! Do you see? The river is frozen! Here come the boys, there come the girls, they are skating in the river happily.
Oh! Winter comes. It is really an interesting season. It has so much fun!

Thanks for your comments, everyone. Some of you like winter better than others, and a lot of you are concerned about the Mayan prophecy predicting the end of the world next week. Many of you wrote some lovely lines about winter's beauty - especially about the snow. I liked reading these descriptions.
ReplyDeleteWinter is my favorite weather too, just like everybody wrote. Especially in TA, because we will have the "Snow Day". We don't have to school whole day, and the best one is that I can have enough sleep and to complete my beautiful dream. In winter, it will be all white outside. This scenery always let me feel clean, quite, and warm. The world just like spiritualized by the god. And people will feel happy when they see it. Then all the children will go outside to build the snowman, have a snow fight, to enjoy the beautiful weather sufficiently. What a funny thing it is! But the bad thing is we have a big rain today. So, all the snow was melted. That's so regrettable. But I believe it will snow again soon, maybe in the Christmas day~~

DeleteI like winter and I like winter escapellly the winter here because we will have a olt of snow, I like snow and in me hometown shanghai we seldom snows, and another reason is we will have snowdays so we can not do to school!
ReplyDeleteI don't like winter very much because we need to wear more clothes and it's really so cold that there's not many things to do outdoor. But the only thing great is winter is a good season for lose fat. You don't want to move and if you go outside, the cold air will cost your fat then you will lose fat very easily and naturally. I like take photos in spring break and summer vacation, but I hardly ever bring my camera with me during the winter. Oh, I just remind. There is one another good thing about winter， snow day! Every single day in winter I have a hobbit, I always check the weather because I want the snow day!

ReplyDeleteThis day made me think about doom day. I just can't believe I'm alive now. In the movie 2012, the situation is so magnificent that I can't stop to imagine the disaster gonna come. But, I'm alive after experiencing the longest day of one year. I think I will die until I'm 50 years old. So, quiz should go on. Happiness is still by my side. Life is going on. Fighting!
