- I have been a language teacher (ESL/ELL, French) for 30 years. I have taught in public and private schools, immersion programs, refugee programs, adult/continuing education, elementary, middle, and high school as well as university. Currently I teach ELL at a high school somewhere in New England.
This is my second week in TA, and everything is getting established.It is my pleasure to study in this amazing school because there are lots of student here and school is much considerable than my school before. Actually, this is a new life to me; however, I still can not forget the past time. Although I always recollect the beauty life I spent before, but it is true that I come to TA. For my future life, I have full of confidence to study well, hard working, and have a wonderful experience in community of the school. After that ,I will go to the college and implementing my dream.
ReplyDeleteI just came here newly and everything seemed to be different and fresh. I used to be an IB student,under high pressure but we all endeavored hard to apply for well-known university. Unfortunately,i quitted early cuz i cannot take Toefl、SAT and my daily studies both and my teachers all felt a pity about that but they respected my choice.So that's why i am here, with a big ambition to go for NYU and become a best salesman in the future. That's also the reason why i don't want to take ELL but a higher level English. Yet the fact is solid,i will learn it with my one hundred percentages' efforts.

ReplyDeleteIt is the first day of school, but I already feel some courses are really tough for me. I hope through my hard work eventually I will be able to understand and get a satisfying grade. And although I enjoy the ELL3 class today, hopefully I will be able to get rid of it and become a member of a normal English class. I really want to improve my English and be able to communicate with others without problems.

High level is my new opportunity to do better on my school work that decide what result I will get. Second, I go to gym, every other day because I want to have a healthy body. Exercise can bring positive attitude which has a great of benefits fo life or study. It encourage me to challenge difficulties.
ReplyDeleteBesides, I start to prepare my TOEFL and SAT. there are big challenge for me but I will do my best. Oh right, I playing trumpet in concert band which have a lot of fun. I never play trumpet before, but I doing well. I hope I can play on the concert some day.

Everything is new for me at Thornton Academy because this is my first year study here. i am excited and a little bit afraid to face fresh things. i have two plans at TA. On the one hand, i would like to swim after school every day. In my opinion, swimming is a very fun activity, and it is good for healthy. On the other hand, i want to travel during vocation. For i understand travel is good for mind and body, you can just relax and without thinking anything when you are traveling . Also, that is amazing if you see something you hadn't seen before.

This is my first year to TA. Everything is different,so i feel a little strange.But i'm still very happy , because i'll be able to learn a lot of things i want. And i can also make some new friend , it makes me very excited . In this year, familiar with environment is my first task . Then i have to improve my English. On the other hand,i really want to join the school basketball team , It will be very hard for me ,because everyone is strong in basketball , but it will make me even more fighting spirit more efforts.I'll work hard in every aspect. I think it will be a nice year for me.
ReplyDeleteBecause i've just been here for about two weeks, so everythings here are very strange and new to me. In spite of being nervous, i feel quite exciting and enjoy the life so well. All the teachers are very nice and kind, it's too different than my school before. This is my first year so everythings i need is get used to it, improve my english, and try to catch up to every body. Besides, i want to participate in many activities or club. I'll will try as best as i can to make this year become wonderful^^!
ReplyDeleteIt is my first year in TA, so it will not be easy for me. I should be hard-working enough for colleges. Firstly, I hope to join in many different kinds of clubs and athletic activities. Secondly, I will work hard to get good grades of GPA and SAT and TOEFL. Also, I want to make more and more good friends, and it is exciting for me. In addition, making friends and participating activities also can help me to improve English. In fact, it is my second year to study in the U. S.. I still remember in my heart that the life is too difficult when I first came to America last year. and I had to study until 2:00 am; I was tired those days. I am very glad to come here to study. I believe I can have a good time in TA.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first year i came to TA.i feel very excited but a little nervous.because everything here is new for me.We have been on a two-day lesson.Almost every classroom do not have a lot of international students,so i am a little worried about my English.i hope i was able to adapt to a new life here,and get good grades in examinations.So from now on,i will want to study hard! i believe that in the next few years,i will be very happy in TA!
ReplyDeleteI'm a retuning international student, this is my second year at TA, and I'm very glad to come back this wonderful school again. Many teachers helped me figure out many problems, they are very friendly. Talk little about me, I'm junior this year, and this year gotta be busy year. I must prepare for my SAT and TOEFL, also many courses are difficult. I want go to a good college after high school, but I know that's would not happen without hard working. By the way I will also enjoy my school life and does it.

ReplyDeleteIt is a great challenge for me to start my high school life in USA.I used to worry about the teachers and the classmates i will meet,but right now i think i made a right decision because the teachers and the classmates are nice.These days my emotions change fast,in my opinion i chose this way i don't have another way,so i can't give up even i know there are more problems i will confront, finally i will go to a good financial college in USA. Cheer for myself!

It's my first year in TA, so I should spend a lot of time learning about courses, clubs and teachers. I believe there are many opportunities for me, I can make more friends, learn more knowledge and so on. However, there are several realistic problem: my English is not good enough, I should be more active. So I will want to join in all kinds of clubs and activities, discuss with teachers and students more, besides this, I will be hard-working and get good grade of SAT and TOEFL. These points can help me enter a college but I want to be an overall person so I need develop my confidence, never be afraid of talking with others, believe myself I can be successful. I choice this road, just do it. All in all it would be an unforgettable and exciting period in TA. Now I will enjoy every second in TA
ReplyDeleteI'M BACK!!! I miss everybody in TA very much! I feel so excited as soon as I come back.It seems are little different in TA. Like ELL classroom, and many new students. This year will be a busy year for me. I'm junior this year so I'd better put more effort on academic work like TOEFL, SAT, and school works.And I'm about to take economy class.I want to an excellent business man as my parents so I have to go to a well-know business college. But I also will care about drawing, I love it. What's more, doing sports is very important,too. It makes me keep healthy.
ReplyDeleteThis is my second year in TA. To be honest, I still want to stay in China with my parents, my friends. This year I need spend a lot of time studying English, I chose homestay this year because I just want to improve my English as soon as possible. And I think if I live with native speakers, I will communicate with them more than I stay in dorm. This year is my sophomore year I will work very hard and I want to get the good grade in the final exam.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time abroad. So, I'm describing how is the feeling of be away from my country and from my family. But I've good objectives for this year, I hope that in the end of the year I can speak english fluently, and I guess that I will improve my knowlodge about other culture, because there are people with culture of all parts of the world. About sports, I hope that I can improve my tennis game here, and that I can play a lot of tournaments.
ReplyDeleteThis year is my first time study in Untied States of America. Thornton Academy is just like a new home to me. I am not feeling boring and be away from my hometown, it is because there is too much fun in our dorm and class. There are many new nice and kind friends in here. I am interested in studying more new lessons in each subject. I am a junior now, therefore I think i should begin to consider my future. I realize I need to spend some of my leisure time to prepare for TOEFL and SAT. Study hard and participate in class are my priority goals in all subjects. Get in a college that meet my expectation is very vital to me. According to the speech of Mr. Nelson, he said as a good student be active is good for our resumes; therefore I think I will join some sports teams. I will abolish lazy and be active! I want to be outstanding! In the end tomorrow is Friday! I wish Mr. Griffin will have a wonderful and cheerful weekend.
ReplyDeleteFirst,I want to say I felt not good when I came to TA that day because I spent too much time with my family and friends during this summer.I have to say I miss them so much.Anyway,you have to do something that you must to do.I will working hard on my reading and practice doing my writing.My golas is get good grades on Toefl and Sat this year.I believe everything is possible when you put your heart into it!
ReplyDeleteActually I don't want to back to America.Because I want to stay with my father , mother and sister. And I like my life in my hometown,Saco's weather is so cold for me. My hometown is called spring city.And when I back Saco , it's too cold in morning and at night. But I also miss the life in Saco.Because there are so many friends.LIving with them has much fun. This year is the most important year in my life,I will take Toefl and SAT, so I need spend more time in study.

ReplyDeleteThis is my second year in TA. I have to say, I'm kind of excited when I'm on my way back to school, although I reluctant my friends in China. I really miss my classmates in TA. And I'm look forward my the rest of time of my junior year. I hope I can get improved on English, Math, Physics, and I can get good grades on TOFEL and SAT. My parents will feel proud of me. I also expect I can go to a good college in the future, it will be a good start for my career.

I like this place very much, there are too many difference between America and Kazakhstan(if you don't know where it is just check out this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazakhstan). So, I like teachers here, also i like TA's food very much)) I'm playing in the dorm football soccer team. I really like MacbookAir!! I've also met good people from Russia and Kazakhstan, some of them are returning students. Everyone asks me "Do you like it so far?", so i always answer " Of course". Also i made a new friends from America. It's pretty cool being an international student, i really like it))
ReplyDeleteThis is my first year in thornton academy. I felt a little bit sad when I came here. I always miss my relatives. But now, I feel better because I made a lot of friends here. And everything is new, everything is different from China. However, I will be very soon to get used to American's life. In the coming days, I will study hard. ReplyDeleteMy summer was good. I am glad to be at Thornton academy again. I am so excited because this is my last year of the school. This year is my last year at TA because i am senior.
This year i am going to take seven classes. I have AP calculus because i like to study Math. I really happy that i enjoy ELL 3. It is going to be hard year because i will study hard for college.
This year i want to play ice hockey in a varsity team . If i am not going to play varsity team , i want to choose swimming because i like swim too. Actually, this month i am playing dorm soccer.
I have been study a lot for SAT and TOEFL because i am going to college in US .
It is going to be fun and difficult to be at TA last year, i hope i can do my best

ReplyDeleteHello. I am so happy to be back. This year is my last year in the USA. I hope it is going to be interesting and arduous year for me. When I finish TA, I am going to come back to Russia. I will continue my education in my country. We have a lot of good Universities. My expectations for this year is to get good grades because I want make my parents to be proud of me. Moreover I am going to play hockey this year. I would like to have a chance to play in a varsity team. I will try to make my dream to come true.
I am glad to be back at TA. I met a lot new people from different countries. It is good experience for me to learn something new about new cultures. This year is a momentous year for me.

So I wanna back school to play with my friends here. In China, my friends all have their own things to do. And I studied in Shanghai in the vacation, it was so hard~ ==

being a returning students, I even couldn't wait to go back to school this summer. I wanted to see all my friends here, all the dorm parents here, and all the teachers here, specially Mr. Griffin.
ReplyDeleteI love to live here and study here, because I feel so confortable to be a TAer. The first impression of TA this year is Cafe. School changed all the round table to square table. And I think it do solve some problems. At least we can fit more people at the same time, the Cafe. won't be so crowded.
Secondly, I have a new roommate this year. Actually, I had single room last year and I live that feeling to have my own little space. But after couple day together with my roommate, I feel like it's so good to have a roommate.
This year is my senior year, also it's my most important year. School work is not the only part I have to focus on. I still have to work on my application for my college. There are all kind of essays I have to write in the future and I hope Mr. Griffin can help me out a little bit.
I wish I can successfully get in a awesome college.

ReplyDeleteIt is the first time that i study aboard in U.S. Because this text is quite late, so i hardly can express my feeling which i had in the first few days when i just arrived in america. So i am going to talk about what i am thinking about now.As all the courses started,which makes me have plenty of work to do, the time goes faster than before.Not only i have to finish my homework, but also i need to sort of my schedule from a mess. The only thing which makes me feel happy is students as well as teachers here are kind and friendly.
This year will be hard but hopeful and i will try my best.

ReplyDeleteThis is my second year in TA. I'm so happy to back here after summer vacation. In this summer, I study tofel in the china and improve my English. This year is my last year in TA and it is the most important year in my high school life. I believe I need to do my best to improve my GPA and apply for the school. Time passed quickly and I have been in TA for 2years. I loathe to give up everything here，especially the teacher and my friends. I will study hard and hope to enter a good university.

This is my first year in TA and USA. I leaved my family in Azerbaijan and I came here with my brother. Firstly I thought that it will be problem for me in foreign country. Now it is not problem because I love USA like my own country. Of course I am missing my country. But I feel very comfortable in TA and USA. Everyone is very friendly and kind with me. I am glad to came here.
