Journal Question 17


SAT, AP, TOEFL, Final Exams, Final Projects, Saying goodbye to seniors, Packing up...There are lots of things to do this time of year, many of them stressful, and it can feel like you are carrying a heavy load!  What is making life stressful for you these days?  More important, what are you doing to reduce your stress?  In other words, what do you do to relax?  Share your ideas with your classmates and peers - and teachers, too.

  1. In these days, the SAT, AP calculus exams make my life stressful.
    And these exams are very difficult and boring. There are lots of
    things to do this time of year. And more important, I think we can do some exercises, listen to some relaxing music and read some interesting books. So in this way, we can relax ourselves and reduce our stress. We also can play computer games, watch the relaxing movies, go to the city which you don't know and never travel. In my opinion, I think the food and sleeping are the most important things. We need to eat some vegetables and fruits. And we need to sleep 8 hours everyday. So we can reduce our stress thoroughly.

    Okay, I'm not very stressful because I'm Sophomore now.
    But I still need to prepare for my close Junior study.

    I need to take SAT and TOFEL next half year, and I plan to take some orientiert classes in China at Summer Vacation. That means I don't have time on playing or relaxing this summer.
    I also have AP classes next half year, so I need to learn and review knowledge early. Trying my best to study hard for next year's AP exams.

    My Junior schedule looks like ver busy hahaha... I have four classes after block 4 and i don't have study hall in Junior year.
    I choose many classes about writing and reading for improving my English. At the same time, I'll learn Latin which is also helpful for my English. And I have history, AP Physics, AP Calculate.
    It means I need to change my schedule completely, and I should be used to the new schedule during my summer vacation.So I won't feel terrible about a busy schedule.

    I really wonder if I have time to relax (=w=
    I think I'll relax by walking and listening English songs.
    Walking is a good way I can exercise but not be tired at the same time. and getting some fresh air and relaxing the body.
    Listening English songs is enjoyable and helpful for English again.

    I hope I'll be all right at Junior year.

  3. i have many test in may and june, ap,SAT, SAT 2 , TOEFL, all these staffs make me nervers. actually i do not like test at all, and the ap test were so hard and it took so long to finish it. but i have to take it , anyway. so i usually find something to do to make me feel relax and free. i will play some video games, watch some funny movie. after those, i will feel full of energy and power. and i will do better on my tests.btw, hope everyone get a good score.

  4. Ok, I just took my SAT and TOEFL test at the end of April. After I get out from the class room, I felt like the world is changed. My beauty and color life are gone forever and only SAT and TOEFL around me. Because these tests are so hard, I don't understand a lot of words in the test. These tests are making life much more stressful for me.
    And in May, we have lots of AP Exams going on. AP Exams are just like SAT and TOEFL, they last 4 hours long and only have five or ten minutes break. But lucky, I don't have AP class this year and it makes my tough world a lot easier.
    Although the life is so hard, relaxing seems to be more important than ever. As for me, I have a lot of ways to reduce my stress and relax myself.
    1. I like to listening to music, especially Jazz music and Blues. The relaxing saxphone and piano melody make me fall in sleep. After a small nap, I'll be done recharging myself
    2. Eating a lot also is a good way to relax. When I feel tired, I'll eat a lot no matter they are fruits, meal, or appetizers. I love food.

When I opened the ell journal and I looked at the title,I realized it is the time to say goodbye to seniors. :'( I feel so upset because my best friend Asako is going to leave,and she probably gonna come back and visit me when I am a senior.She is coming back to TA like 3 years!!!!I feel so disappointed about that,can't even handle it........

    These days I felt like there is a huge and heavy rock on my shoulder,that I can't even breath.Next year,I am running for class president again,and I am going to have a speech on 24Th.It is really hard for me, there is one of the american who has a really strong personality break my confident. But I didn't give up,and I work really really hard on my speech and many of the day students said there are going to vote for me too!!! :) I feel very impress and moved.And now what I am going to do just to ignore that boy and do my best!whatever the result is,at less I try my best,and that is enough.

    when I am sad or I feel like life is stressful,I will do all my homework first,and then listen to some sad song to make myself cry,or I will take a walk around the place I live.Those the way that make my feeling better. :)

These days the most thing that makes me stress is pressure there are many pressure from many way for example we get pressure from our parents and also we get pressure from ourself I think the best way to get of from the pressure is to have a rest for example we can listen to music, also we can eat our favorite food because In my opinion is these to ways can make us forget tired pressure etc. So I like these ways.

  8. There're ton of final projects for me. I've just finished my AP exam. And the most important thing for me now is the subject test on june 2nd.
    In this point, british TV shows are the best choice for me. They are interesting.The actors are even more brilliant than you can imagine. And I start to watch British movies too. They're fantastic. Now I'm interested in almost everything of England, except food.
    Reading novels is good too. However sometimes I waste too much time on it.
    I'm using twitter now. The benefit is that unlike Facebook, nobody actually knows who I am. So I can express myself directly. I don't care that I only have two followers and I only got two replies. I have to admit that two replies are already big surprise! Twitter for me is sort of personal diary.Tumblr is a good place for both diary and pictures. You can always see the pictures that are terrific!

  9. First, I want to say Goodbye and Good luck to those senior. As a freshman, maybe I don't have so much work to do. But May makes me feel busy, tired and nervous. I feel I have lots of quiz and test these days, Like ELL! The final also getting closer. I have to prepare for my subjects. My health is not so good these days, too. My stomach always feels not comfortable. Moreover, I have to prepare my TOEFL study in my summer vacation. My sophomore year will be coming soon, I am a little bit worry about my subjects next year, because it will be more difficult and more challenge. So I need to study harder.
    However, if you are carrying a heavy load, you can do better!

  10. For pressure do cause a lot of trouble for our daily life. It's best for us to make some plans for reducing them. In my point of view, we should first have a right attitude towards failure. We should learn to face our disadvantages and mistakes. No one is perfect.Only if we draw lessons from failure can we improve ourselves. Then, we should take enough exercise to strengthen our body. To be healthy is the most important thing for standing pressure. What's more, we can spend our holiday going sightseeing. Nature could help us forget all the troubles and relax better than ourselves. Then once we get back to our work or study, we can put all our energy into it.

  11. I'm a Sophomore now, so I don't have many pressure as those Junior guys have. But next year I will be a Junior student, I'll have to take some AP classes and SAT and TOEFL test. So I must prepare for those things now. And I want to say goodbye to those Senior guys. They spent about two and three years here, and they got a wonderful result for themselves. I hope they can have a wonderful time in the college. Next year I will be a Junior student, that means I will enter the most important year in the high school. I must do well in next year then I can declare a good college. I will keep my energy for next year and get a great grade for myself.

  12. Since I go to school, different kinds of pressure surround me. My parents hope that I can be the best one in the class. Teachers hope that I will do better than what I do now. When i have vacation, i often go to my grandparents house with my parents. The first word that all my parents siblings say to me is "did you do well in this semester?"

    To reduce my stress, i have 2 methods. When I face the stress, I will try to make it become impetus. More stressful, more hardworking.

    Sometimes i feel tired, when pressure comes. At that time, I call my friends to hang out and going shopping.We may talking about funny stories. We also go to KTV to sing songs. If i have enough time to relax, i sometimes watch movies with my friends. i like eating snacks to reduce stress as well.

    When you take a break from stress, you will more energetic to face the pressure and solve it.

  13. Now, the final exam is coming.It gives me lots of pressure. But I have more pressure on TOEFL test. It is really difficult for me. We need to remember lots of new words.

    When I want to relax, I will read books but not English books. If I read English books, I will get more pressure.HAHA~~ I prefer to chat with my friends. We will talking about everything except the problems on test. It can encourage me to study harder. Sometimes, Doing exercise is a good way to relax. I will feel tired, but it makes me forget those problems. It is also helpful for our body.

  14. This is the first year I came to American for my study. I should know how to deal with others and make friends with others. That makes me feel upset and gives me a lot of pressure. The final exam is the most important things now, so I should prepare for the final exam. When I is tired or feel nervous, I will listen some music or watch a movie. I think going outside is a good way to release of pressure. I think we can talk with others while we feel pressure. Perhaps our friends and our parents can give us a lot of useful advice. I hope I could be successful in the final exam.

  15. There are numbers of projects, and final exams waiting for me. Best wish for seniors. Because they will leave early, so most of final exams are in next two weeks…I feel a lot of stress these days, but just as my mom told me that, this world was always unfair, being yourself is the best way to solve all the problems. The people who are mean or cattish will get their punishments at the end, so just doing what I want. This is the only valuable thing I understand this week. No pain, no gain. This is a famous saying, that even every Chinese knows. So I will try my best in finals. I really like Korean videos or funny shows, so this is my important way to release stress. I also like novels, or ancient style things. So, sounds like I have a lot ways to reduce my stress. Don’t put all of your attention on how to increase your school grades, outside world is also interesting, and have a lot of things you can study.

  16. Now i'm a freshman, but i still have many pressures. But the biggest pressure for me are TOEFL test and PSAT test. They are coming . Next year i need to take these two tests. They are so hard for me.
    For reducing my stress, i always listen some musics, read some books, and go to play tenis. do some exercise can help me forget problem at least at that time. it's also good for my body. Memorizing some words also is a way for me to reduce my stress . but sometimes, when i memorized words, i got more pressures.

  17. I believe that Junior year is the most stressful year in the high school. A lots of thing should be done during the Junior year. First of all, we should take the SAT exam, which is the most important exam during the Junior year, Next, after finish the SAT exam, I have to start prepare my SAT2 exam, which is one month after the SAT exam. Finally, the school Final Exam right after the SAT2. Those are really make me stressful.
    Someone asked me how can i reduce my stress? I think there are few things we can do to reduce our stress. One is we can do some exercises like, take a walk or riding bicycle for about 15 minutes when we feel tired. Another thing we can do is chatting with your friends and share your situation with them. The most often thing i do is eating. I believe that eating delicious food is a great idea for relax, because you will fotget the stress when you enjoying the delicious food.

  18. This year isn't very busy for me, because this is my first year in TA. I even have two study hall, but not have physical class. I know some good ways to relax. For example, listen music, play sports and sleep. I like playing sports best, when I play basketball or something else, it can makes me think about nothing. So I can feel relax and much better. Most people seems like listening music, because people will sing together with singer, at that time you will forget everything. Of couse, sleep can makes you forget everything.

  19. I'm going to take Toefl test on 25 this month. Undoubtedly, I feel not so easy. There seems are lots of thing I have to prepare. As same as our life, there are many problem we have to face to, and they also exert pressure on us. In this situation, we have to find some ways to relax ourselves. For me, a good idea to relax myself is playing sports. We are supposed to be clam in game. It's beneficial for us to clam us down. secondly, what plays a important role in game is belief. A strong belief also can help you deal with the problem.
    Beside the way I stated above, reading is not only can make you relax but also can enrich your life.

    "Life is too short , enjoy every mins of it!" a taxi driver said this to me when i was in California few days ago. I totally agree with it.We have lots of things to do these days.The most important thing is say goodbye, it is hard to say it. I hope they have a great life in university.I have finished my AP exam, that 's really hard. When i feel stressful, i would like hang out with my friends and eat some great food. That is really helpful for me . "We have good time all the time" says by the taxi driver also. I think he is really happy everyday. He may meets some bad things, but he uses different attitude to face it. I really like his attitude.

  21. It is such a exciting thing that we are going back home in one month! I am going to become sophmore next year. At the same time, I am worrying about the final exams. I hope I can get good grades on every subject. I have a lot of things to pack up but really expect the time when I pack up my things. The time just flies so fast. My freshman year is going to be passed. And I am going to take regular English next year and say goodbye to ELL three class and American study class. I will miss Mr. Griffin very much! I feel a little stressful but not too much. I am going to take it easy and do my best on the final exams. Wish me luck!

  22. i hope time can pass quicker, because i dont want to face any tests, and i want to go back home and play with my friends.i am taking TOFEL this weekend, so i am really busy this week, most of the tests are going to happen this week, after this week, i think i can relax more until next year when i am back.We are going to say goodbye to ELL III within a month.We had a good time in ELL III with Mr.Griffin.I really enjoy to have ELL III this year.Thank you Mr.Griffin

  23. I feel much stressful about the oncoming final exams. For me, as a sophomore, I don't think I'll have stress about SAT at the mean time, but final exams are really important for the year grade, like what they said is it covers 10% of the grade of whole year, so it's really a big deal. As I feel stressful, I sometimes listen to music or watch movie to relax myself from those matters, after I rest myself I'd be able to have more energies to do more work, so it's not bad to sometimes free myself from work.

Pressure from parents.They hope that my grades are excellent, but many times I can not do that, I am not a love of learning students.I only like to do the things I love dry, such as writing lyrics and songs.The way to eliminate the pressure I have a lot, but use very little.I like and friends to talk, but not all are my confidant.So I can only listen to music, write lyrics, to vent the pressure.

    I had a really good time with them during this year. I will be really busy this summer. preparing for SAT and ACT test. I will also attended the summer school for art. when i feel suffered a lot from my study, my best way to relax is sleeping

  27. I will have stressful life in next two weeks because I will have final exams. When I have test or quiz I have stress because I don't like to take it. I will have final exams and I will have a big stress because when I have test or quiz I am scary and I like when it is quiet and no one don't talk because i can't concentration when people talk on a test.
    I have stress all the time,i don't know how to do relax because it is difficult for me. When i can't relax i can't write a test very well because I have stress.Stress is big problem for me....

  28. I don't like stressful days. These days are the most arduous for me. Some things makes my days stressful such as Final Exams an Final Projects.
    Ever since the last quarter started, I have been exhausted. The system of education is very different here. I don't like how the teachers give you grades for tests. I don't want to blame anyone, but I am not accustomed to this system. I don't care about SAT because I need to have good grades in my diploma. Accordingly, I will have to get good grades during senior year. I am so jealous now because my classmates finished school two days ago because we have only 11 years of school.
    I do a lot of stuff to relax. I go to the gym,hang out with my friends and I always use Skype to talk with my friends. I very miss them. For the weekends I usually go in my aunt's house where I can speak Russian. It helps me to forget about problems.
    Finally, I want to say that we need to enjoy every day because life is too short.

  29. Comparing my experience studying in China, I don't feel so stressful at this time because final exams comes every year and I don't want to study under stress. It's not a good way to learn knowledge. I enjoy the time when I am studying. Some coffee and chocolate may help if you feel stress. I made myself a cup of mocha last night contain milk, coffee and chocolate. Though I stay up late every night and won't sleep until two, I always have a snap every afternoon and It's a good way to relax myself.

  30. In May, my biggest pressure is from final exams. The vocabulary of each subject is a big challenge for me. I always feel very stress so I need to relax myself.

    In school days, I listen to the music to relax. I feel peaceful when I listen to some piano music. During weekends, I can go shopping or do some exercises. I think doing sports is a very useful way to relax. Since the final exams make me feel stress, I should prepare enough and work hard on them and then I will not worry about them or feel stress.

  31. It is a stressful year for me because I am a junior. We just took the SAT in May, and I felt awful about my test. All I want to do right now is study for my Sat and prepare for my AP class next year. In the main time, I will go to work out everyday to reduce my stress . It is a great way to reduce the stress. Also, when I feel tired about study, I will just go to take a nap or eat some food.

  32. I'm not very stressful because I'm freshman!!! I will stay here 3 years. When I become seniors, I think I will very busy; AP, TOEFL they will make my life stressful. But now I just need worry about my Final Exams. It gives me a little bit pressure. I should work hard on Final Exams, this is only way can let me get great grade.   33. June is coming. It is good news because I can go back to China soon and meet with my friends. Every coin has two sides, as the June coming; the final exam and toefl are coming as well. Students usually will feel stressful when the final coming. It is a common appearance to us. In my mind, stress is powers that can push us improve and get better. Suitable stress will let you know you need to work harder and harder. If you can use the stress properly, you will find that it is a great way to let you move. On the other hand, you still need to learn how to reduce your stress because that too much stress is the rejection and may let you become negative. I usually reduce my stress by reading books or have a rest. Sometimes, I will stop working and just go out to have a walk. As a student, the main stress comes from the study and test. But it is easy to reduce your stress. The best way is relax if you feel tired. In a word, you need to learn reduce stress and how to use it.

  34. As a freshmen, it nearly nothing can make me stressful. Recently, final test and final project are coming. I really feel some stress. I want to have a good grade on every subject, so I work hard. We will have a wonderful summer vacation after few weeks. In this summer, I will take a TOEFL test, so I have to remember many words, it makes me stressful.Next year I will have AP calculus and many honors class, that also one of the sources of my stress. Most of time when I feel stress, I prefer listening to music or sleep. Music will take you to another wonderful land. Sleep can help you brain to relax. All kinds of relax is a kind of escape, I think only when you have a active attitude, then you can make your stress less.

  35. I am carrying so many heavy loans. I did register the June 8th Toefl exam. Therefore, I need to well-prepare for this exam. And I also have Physics Final exam, Two Math tests, ELL3 final quiz and sociology essay... Too much homework and a lots of tests! My shoulder carries too many things. After I go over all the comments, I find there are a tremendous students are glad to meet June. But I don't want to get in June. It is because all the quizes or exams that I have to finish or achieve are coming. I know I have to confront those exams, and homework. But as an international student, I have to prepare the suit cases and packages for my long summer vacation. It is because our dorm will be reconstruct during the Summer, at least repair some of the facilities that damaged by my friends. Therefore, I have so many things to do. I think I'd better create a specific agenda for the next 20 days. I aim to prepare for the TOEFL test first, thus I am doing the TOC reading sections twice a week and I am memorizing the words almost every day. It's tired and I feel fatigued, but I rather to achieve or accomplish those challenges.

  36. This is an important year for me as a junior. I have to take the Toefl, SAT and the final exam for sure. All of the student are focusing on their study including me. It is stressful that all the tests and exams come together. However, summer vacation is coming, so we should work hard now and play hard in the summer. For me, the best way to reduce the stress is to do some outside events like basketball or either have a walk. Having a good sleeping habit is important also. I hope everyone can do well on their tests and good luck.

  38. In this month, I took too many tests,for example SAT , AP EXAM.I feel very tired.And I will continue hard-working,because the Final Exam are coming soon. To be a junior ,I feel very stressful ,in next year I will go to university . Going to a brilliant university is a important thing in my life. So I must do my best in study. Juniors will graduate in June 3rd ,although I only live with them just a year,but I set up a deep friendship with them.
    There are just 21days ,I will go back China,and spend whole summer with my family and friends.I miss my family and everything in China. I can't wait to quiet Final Exam and go back to China

  39. The first year in TA is almost end. Actually here I don’t have stressful as much as I am in China. In China, I have to study very hard so that I can get an offer from good colleges, which means I need to spend almost whole day to study, but I am able to have a plenty of free time to do what I want here. However, I still feel a little stressful when the final exam is coming. The final exam is really important for me. I want to make a perfect ending before I leave here. Whenever I feel stressful, I would go out alone and find a good place to eat some food. When I am eating, I can think a lot about why I feel stressful these days, and then find a way to solve that. After eating and thinking, I always feel much better than before. I guess people seldom get out of stress problems like I do, but I think that’s really useful to me. Maybe different people have different thoughts.

  40. I think these days are the hardest in this year.For example the Sat , Ap exam , final exam and final projects etc . It makes me feel stressful . For me , I will escape it . I will not try to think and focus the things that I worry . In addition , I will listen to music and do some sports to make myself feel relax . The best way is to kick a soccer ball , I belief that I can pass the stressful to the soccer ball by kicking it .

  42. Now, I feel really happy to complete the first school year in TA. In my first year, I didn't feel very stressful. Since I am a sophomore, I don't have to worry about something like SAT, Toefl tests. Maybe just these final days, I feel a little bit tired. Compared to life in China, the life here is really peaceful and quiet. In China, people do everything quickly. When I feel stressful, I will listen to the music and leave myself alone in a park or on the street. I think that's the best way for me to keep active.

    I have been here for a year. I met a lot of fun people and things. However, the final week which is hardest time in the year, is coming. I have to study for many final exams which make me stressful and nervers. Further more, I got a terrible score at my first SAT test which makes me so upset, and I have no ideas about my dream colleges. And I have to take two subject tests next week. So I have to prepare for not only the final exams but also the subject tests. The last but the least, I have to take tofle in the fall, but I have not started studying for tofle. I don't think I have enough time to applying colleges. Sometimes, I play winning eleven, which is a computer soccer game, for relaxing. I don't have to think about my exams and any other things when I am playing. The only thing I have to think about is how to beat Terrence in the game. However, I can't escape from the real life, I must overcome all the staffs which make me stressful and think about my dream colleges.

  45. I'm sophomore this year. So I think I don't have much stress now. But in these days, I have a little bit stressful, because the final exams are coming. It depends my final grades in this year. So I have to work hard on it. But I'll become busy next year because of the SAT and toefl test. They're so important for my college in the future. But I also have some methods to reduce my stress. When I feel tired, I will watch some movies or listen many popular songs. It can relax my nervous. And I will do some exercises in the free time. It can strong my body, help me to have better study.   47. I am a junior this year and its a busy year for me.In this year, I meet a lot of real friends. The year in Thornton academy is almost end. I have finished the Sat, ap exam. This week is my important week because final exam is coming.I believe I will feel sad when i graduate from TA next year when I saw the seniors leave school. I only have 1 year in TA and I will cherish the last time.

I'm not doing SAT or TOFEL now,so I have a lot of time to relax.But I have final exams and final projects to do.They're pretty tough too,I'm working during school days and only work at study hours.I know that's not enough if I really want to do well on my tests.I have to spend more time to reviewing stuff such as worksheet and handouts.I have such experiences to relax.What I would do is sleeping or playing videogames.Ok,that's not a good way to relax,but if you really into it,you will concentrate on the games and forget about any damn stress.If you don't like games,the only way is sleeping,sleeping is very good for you to release your stress.

Time goes by,the first year at TA almost done.I want to say it was a really good experience in USA.I love TA even I felt unhappy sometimes,but I still think it is a good place to study.Actually,I am not feeling very stressed these days,but I was worried about my final exams because it is very important for us.I go to saco sport everyday for relaxing.what a good thing!

  51. I'm the 10th grade this year in TA, also this is the first year I been USA. That was pretty cool this year because there are many interesting things happened in my life. I think I'll become a busy man next year because I'm going to be a junior, that is a really important year that I know. There's so many test coming soon, like SAT and TOEFL. But in my free time, I will do more exercise like go to Saco sports everyday in the future. Another things that I need to do is keep health all the time because you have to had a good body to work hard.
