favorite public art. In BeiJing, we have the NET. The 2008 olympics
Games is in this place. It is very wonderful and good. It attracts
many many visitors come to here to see and visit. And the other
favorite public art of mine is the Great Wall. It is also very wonderful and so nice place. Every year, there are a lot of people come here to visit. I like to visit other cities 's places and
to know their own culture.
Art is not necessary for people's basic life. But if a city wants to be a modern and developed city, it should have public art. The appreciation of the art is related to the development of the city. It represents what the levels of the citizens are.When people start to focus on arts, it means that they have already had good lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteHonestly speaking, I'm not interested in art at all.But some public art in my city is really interesting. Some of them are on the two sides of the road which looks really weird. There' re a lot of sculpture in the city. They're one sight of the city.
Public art is the most important part of my life.People have been busy for a long time,they don't have anytime to read or search any art online,and many people even think it is not necessary to know about what is art mean to them.But,the good way about public art is people can stop by art in the city,not in a specific location,like museum or show.

I do have a favorite public art,but it isn't in my hometown,it is in France,and the artist is kirkdo's villa.His public art mean get away form hustle and bustle.
Ehhhh...... I need to say, I've never heard and never thought about this word, "Public Art". I'm not sure if I understand this word correctly. And I try to find the image of the public art in my hometown. If I do not think wrong, so my hometown had a public art before. I don't know what the staff wants to express.
ReplyDeleteIf the image on the top is an example of public art, that would be my favorite public art now -w-. I'm looking for pictures from google, I don't like them very well, so maybe the water-drop is the best one I have looked since then.
I cannot find information or pictures in Chinese website, the only result I found about "public art" is the name of a book =M=.
In my opinion, I think it is important for a city to have a public art. A good public art can help people to remember the city and learn more about the city.

For example, when we talk about the Statue of Liberty, we will think of the United States. I think it helps us to remember the country and shows us the spirit of the country. A good public art is not only local people' s pride but also a good way for foreign people to learn the country.
My home town does not have a public art. However, I think the Great Wall is a really good public art for China.
When I know the photo above is a "Cloud Gate", I think may be we will discuss about environment. But it is about public art! Interesting! I remember I have seen public art near the Pentagon in New York. It is red and like a balloon flower.
ReplyDeleteI have seen much public art in America, but I don't think China has much public art. If you see some sculptures in America, you can touch them. But in China, if you want to even see them, you will pay for visiting most of the sculptures. And you are not allowed to touch them. Compared with cities in America, I hope cities in China can have more public arts to let people climb on and look at. I like public art, especially when I visit a city by car. The different kinds of public art make me feel excited and happy.
Every cities has its own stories and the stories can be displayed by public art. It can let people know more about the history.
If people want to visit some places, they often go to the park and something special in that country. So I think it's very important for a country to have a public art. If I visit some place, the first attraction I want to visit is the most famous park in that country. So if the pack has good statue or beautiful plants or flowers, I will remember that place. It's good for that country to impress to tourists.
ReplyDeleteIn my hometown, we have four sages Yangming Wang, Shunshui Zhu, Zilin Yan and Lizhou Huang. Our central park has their statues. They became the mark of our hometown.
For China, I think The Great Wall and The Palace Museum became the mark of Chia. The public art is the things that represent a country’s culture. I feel very proud our country can have so great public art!
Be honest this Journal introduces me a new word. Which is "Public Art." In fact I did some research about public art. A public art product has at least one idea or theme that was given by the creator. A public art item sometimes represents some attitudes toward the reality.
ReplyDeletePersonally I think public art is not really requisite. The cost that used for creating and building a public art product can also used for helping the poor and hungry kids. Some of the figures or sculptures, paintings, and so on are very beautiful. The thing that attract me a lot is the deep point of view or idea that this product is trying to represent. Public art can be used for relaxing. Like the building in this image, everyone can be able to visit the inside of this building. Most of time public art items will settle nearby the most important area of a city. I think Great Wall is one of the Chinese public art products.
As a result i think public art is not requisite. Our economic is really bad enough, we need invest our money to somewhere else that can be helpful and useful for our pool economy.

I think I should know some of the public arts.But I remember nothing.In Beijing, there should be lots of public arts.Sometimes, I glance it and forget it. In my opinion, many of Chinese won't pay attention to the public art.However,it doesn't mean it is not important.The public art represent the city's culture.It's a direct object for foreigners know this countury.

My hometown is a small city with 7000 years history. There are lots of old city arts in my hometown such like famous sages, the river bridge and drum that have 360 years history! Actually, Doris, Edward,Ben and me are from the same city!hahahah! We love our hometown and miss it so much! The public arts in my hometown are really have their own feature. ReplyDeleteI live in Hong Kong and there are a lot of public art in every places. For example, my house is located in Kowloon Tong and there is a big dragon bronze statue which is representing the name and the history of it.
I like public art, because it can promote the aesthetic feeling of city and cultural background. In my home town "Wuhan", there are many music fountain, most in the evening open, very nice. "Wuhan" statue is very common,so many places have statue.

ReplyDeletein my opinion, i think public art can make a city modern, but i think placing a public art in a right place is important also.I think Public art can make the city has a better economy.By placing a right public art in a right place, it can attract tourist to come visit it and they will spend money in our city.In my home city, there are lots of public art, it makes people feel comfortable when they are hanging out, because we can enjoy such a nice public art in my city.

There are a lot of public art in New York City. Many artists live in NYC. And there are many public art in my home city Guangzhou. One of the most famous public art is the Statue of Five Goats. That's one of the symbol of Guangzhou. It represents the happiness, good luck and good harvest. The statue is based on a fairy tale and these five goats are the embodiment of the fairy. If you go to Guangzhou. you should visit the statue.

If the public art becomes classic and famous, it would attract people to come there and develope travel industry of the whole city. There were some public arts in my middle school. They were some portrait sculptures of famous history people in China. They reminded me that my happy life now came from their hard work. They were meaningful and instructive.

I like Louvre Museum because there are many famous art work, the most famous one is Mona Lisa of the world. I want to go to there in future, because i want to see the best masterpiece of the human history.

I love a town that which is build in Shanghai, it is around 300 meters high. I also think it is famous in the world. And there has too many public art in this world, like Eiffel tower and Pyramid. Sometimes I really want to go to the Egypt because I want to see the Pyramid, another things that I heard is the Mummy is in the Pyramid.

If the city is very rich, they should have a public art in the city , so the people in city can enjoy it and maybe learn something from the arts. On the other hands, if the city is poor or not rich enough, they probably shouldn't build the public arts. Because they should use limit money to help the people get a better life. In my hometown, it is not many public arts . they are some of it in the downtown and business center.

We have a lot of fountains. When i was in Russia i saw a lot of people did photo, they were so happy and surprised.
One year ago, i came to Moscow and i saw another public arts so different with my town.Like every city has their culture.

ReplyDeleteIn my city we don' have marvelous public art. My city is very old. Tomsk was established in 1604. We have a lot of beautiful buildings. These buildings are made from wood. We also have a lot of monuments. Those monuments are constructed for very honored and famous writers and political people. Also we have a great deal of universities. Those universities give you opportunity to get a good education. This fact attracts many people to Tomsk.
I like beautiful places. I would like to visit very famous cities like New York, Hong Kong and others.
I don't have favorite kids of art. In conclusion, public art is very important.
In the way I see, public art is so important that some excellent work can be symbols of city. And almost all famous public art like statues, pictures always have some history or country culture background.
ReplyDeleteIn my hometown, there is a famous building, Drum Tower. It's a old building with more than 1000 years history. Originally, it was built for military since Tang. Now, it's one of the most bustling commerce centers in my hometown. There are not only various shops,but also have many kind of snacks. We can feel old atmosphere here.
I believe a great art work doesn't only has value of itself, but also can influence others by their inner sprit.
In my opinion , I think public art is important because it is a way to show the local cultures and the standard of life of their citizens . ReplyDeleteWhen I went to Chicago during the Christmas vacation, I saw this amazing building, I mean, public art. It was really magnificent. It is important to have a public art as a landmark in a city. The landmark is the symbol of a city. There is a sculpture of Mr. Mao who is the first president of China in my city. Many cities around the world have their famous public arts. Singapore is famous for it's Merlion and New York is famous for it's Statue of Liberty. Public arts play a important roll in the improvement of popularity.

For example , Shanghai , the city which I come from , has a lot of public arts . One of the most famous public arts is the Light in the East （I am not sure it 's right , because I just have the chinese name）. This one is very close my home . Welcome to Beijing! I’d like to introduce you to the Beijing National Stadium, also known as Bird’s Nest. The stadim is located in Beijing Olympic Park , covering 258,000 square metres. It is 330 metres long, 220 metres wide, and 69.2 metres tall. The construction began on December 24,2003, and was completed at the end of 2007. The splendid Opening and Closing ceremonies are to take place in Bird’s Nest, which will hold the main track and field events as well as football matches during the games. In my hometown, there are lots of public arts since there are so many public squares in the city. Each square has a public art such as a big crystal ball in the centre of a square, a famous tall building in the centre of a square. I love my own city very much because of this and I am proud of my city about this.

So the public art is so important for a city. Like in China, Beijing has the Bird's Nest, Shanghai has the Crown of the East.(EXPO's China pavilion) So now, I wanna to introduce my hometown's public art-TongJi Bridge. According the legend, 100 years ago, my hometown Yuyao has eighteen knowledgeable people.It makes Yuyao become very famous. But another town named Cixi which is next Yuyao has a officer is very angry to see it. So he goes to see the emperor to say how Yuyao good is. But it's too much good, it's very dangerous for the emperor's throne. The emperor believes him, let him to destroy the most famous bridge Tongji in Yuyao. The Yuyao's people know it, they come together and think out a idea to protect the bridge. They let the Yuyao's officer to go to the bad officer's ship have drink with him, then makes him drunk. When he wakes up, the ship has already through the bridge. When he wants to come back to destroy the bridge, the Yuyao's officer says:"Why you didn't say the imperial edict when we through the bridge? Now you want us to come back amount to you break the imperial edict, you will behead if the emperor know it." The bad officer feels scary. Then he can only lie to the emperor the bridge has already destroyed. So the Tongji bridge can still in my hometown to help people until now. This bridge symbolizes Yuyao people's resourceful and tell us we have to combat bad forces bravely.

But I think the most popular public art is the Tian'anmen square. It's the symbol of Beijing.
As for me, I think public art is really important to a city because maybe the art is good at representing the culture or scenery of this city. If there is a public art in a city, it also has a lot of advantages for tour. Tourists are able to know this city very well.
ReplyDeleteMy hometown is Ningdu. It also has couple public arts. One of them called YI TANG JIU ZI. This is a sculpture. It describes that in ancient of my hometown, there were nine excellent professors who have created a lot of wonderful poems and articles in my hometown. They are really famous of writing articles or poems. They did too much contribution for literature of ancient China. That's the reason why people made a sculpture for them.
I like the public art, and i think it's important to have public arts in the city. the public art make our city more beautiful, and it shows the culture of the city and is a symbol. ReplyDeleteFor my experience, public art is a significant part of city’s reputation. Most visitors will come for celebrated public arts. And these art works are symbols of the city’s culture, and history. My city is Chengdu in Sichuan province. My city is the hometown of pandas. When you just walk out the airport, you can straightly see a panda statue out here. We also have the same statue at the most busy street of my city. We had a big earthquake in May 12th 2008, which was 8.0 huge. There was a big bell in a square, the pointer stopped at the exact time when the earthquake happened. It becomes the represent of the earthquake and the city.

In suzhou one of it called "pan men"its a public building represent the long history of suzhou.Also in American it has many public arts . In NY the Empire state is a good example. Everyone who went to the NY will go to see it.So the public art its important to each city .

ReplyDeleteAt the end of the movie, Source Code. The main character Jake Gyllenhaal was standing in front the a piblic art which is "Cloud Gate". I almost forget what was the story about but I still remember the man standing in front of the Cloud Gate. That's how important the public art is. First, Public art can affect people's first impression of a city. Image you are going to a city you've never been. Would you prefer to see some great public art coming in to your eyes or streets and people just like ur hometowm? Public arts increase the style level of a city and make a city well-known by them. Sometimes I always couldn't remember some cities name but I can remember the simbols. Most of the time simbols are the Public Arts. Second, public arts in the city can attract lots of visitors in order to let the city be more famous and increase the GDP
