Do you like going to a theater and watching movies in a big, dark room with lots of people you don't know? Or do you prefer watching movies on your TV at home, or your computer, or even your phone? Are there types of movies you like to see on the big screen in a theater, and others that are fine to see on a small monitor? Do you like to eat while watching movies? What sort of food? Last night, the Academy Awards - "Oscars" - were handed out to 2011's best movie, actors, directors, etc. in Los Angeles. So I thought a good topic for the ELL Journal would be movies. I like OSCARS too, it's a wonderful TV program, I like watching movies at the night and I like watching movies at the theater. I also like going to a theater and watching movies in a big, dark room with lots of people I don't know. I like watching acting movies on the big screen in a theater, I think scared movies are fine to see

It's a very famous and wonderful movie. It tells us the world peace is very important for everybody. And watching movies is also my favorite hobby.I like movies very much.
I like watching movies. I always go to cinema with my parents. I prefer go to the cinema where has a big screen, in this way I can feel the authenticity of the film. I don’t like to eat pieces of cakes or some pizza while I am watching movies, I would like to have some popcorn. Because I think eating is not good while I was watching movies. It's inconvenient and also do not help us to enjoy the films. I want to go to the cinema with my father or my good friends. And I don’t like to stay in a strange place. If I go to the cinema with someone else, I can talk with him and I won’t feel lonely. We can also chat with each other about the plot of the film. Maybe it’s a good way for us to understand the movies.
ReplyDeleteIn my spare time, I'd like to watch some movies, especially some foreign ones. Such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest(1975),Babel(2006) and so on. The movie is not only a great feast for my eyes, but also makes me more sensible and knowledgeable.

I don't really matter where to watch a film,but I love stay in the dark place and I prefer to watch a movie in the cinema alone,so I always go in the midnight,or go with my family,not sit with mant stranger.
I am not that person who is eating chip or popcorn or something else during the film is playing.Because I think it is really ignoring and noise.
I would prefer to watch sci-fic or action movies in the cinema. The theater provide better sound effects and higher quality, it makes the whole movie more realistic.
ReplyDeleteI usually spend my time with my friends for going to the cinema. I don't like to eat or drink when i am watching a movie. I want to focus on the movie rather than doing other stuff.
I like action movies, like Inception, Source code, 2012 etc.
Although watch movies computer is not as good as cinema, you can pause or fast forward evan replay. It is a very convenient way for the people who very like to watch movies. They can save as many movies as they want.
i think movies can teach us something which are outside of the textbooks. As a international student, by watching some english movies can help us to improve our listening and speaking. Watching movies is a good hobby for everybody.
I know many movies are great, but I seldom watch movies. Sometimes I watch movies with friends because I feel boring. Compared with watching movies, I would rather to be a Otaku(It means I just want to stay at home and sleep and enjoy comics). You know I am a lazy girl!
ReplyDeleteBut if I want to see movies, I prefer going to theater. I think theaters have good atmosphere and I can watch movies with friends. I like seeing movies with friends instead of alone. Though I prefer foreign movies, but I often choose Chineses movies(you know I was in China). I have seen some Chinese movies and American movies, such as Disappointed In 33 Days(a romantic movie), Tangshan Earthquake(told a story about earthquake), Harry Potter(I think many guys know it), Superman Returns（a American movie, I like it), Avatar(it is great), The Titanic(I know it is a old movie, but I still remember its name).
I go to the theater often in holiday. When I watch movies, I always forget to eat(>.<I am concentrated on the movies). Because the theater is far from my house, so I am lazy to go there:P. May be one day it will have new great movies that I want to see!
But I still think play computer games is a better choiceXDDD!!!!!!
In fact, I don't mind the place I watch a movie. And the places depend on what kind of movies I watch.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, it's better watching a scary movie in the cinema than in computer alone. I'm really afraid of scary staffs. But until now, I haven't watched any scary movies in the cinema. Eh, I just have been to cinema several times.
Although I don't care about the places, I don't like cinema in some ways. It's too noisy for me, and it's more expensive. Maybe some people likes to watch 3D movies, so they go to cinema. But I have myopia, and it's uncomfortable to wear two glasses together. =v=
I think I eat everything when my hands have nothing to do, but I always don't eat so much. I'm easy to forget time when watching, I don't want to finish all the food at same time. And I don't drink water or other drinks while watching. It's not a happy situation to go to restroom again and again.
In fact, i think watching movie in a computer is better than watching in a cinema.But watching in a cinema's feeling is different from watching at home on the computer. During we are watching in the cinema, we can see people's facial expression to decide it that a good movie or not. Personally, i dont really like watching 3D movie, because i think wearing the glasses is so uncomfortable to me.i like to watch action movie, because i think it is very impressive to see people bettle around the world. On the other hand, i dont like to eat or drink in a cinema, because i dont know where can i put those trashes after i finished my foods, so thats why i dont like to bring foods inside to the cinema.

But I don’t like watching the movie in the cinema, because when I watching the film there maybe many noise such as the sound of chewing food, the phone’s ringtones and so on. I like watching TV in the night and use the computer at home by myself.

I really like watching movies. It’s a very good way to have rest when you finish many works. All the people like it. I don’t have favorite movie, but I like watching the action movie and the science fiction movie. It can make me exciting. I prefer watching these two types of movies in the theater, because the theater has the big screen, and the special efficiency in theater is better than watching movies in home. Now a lot of movies are 3D, we can’t get the 3D effect in home, so we must need to go to the theater. I also like watching the romantic movie in cinema or in a big, dark room with the girl, it’s a good chance to do some things~(Not bad things, some romantic things!)And sometimes I will see some soap operas on computer or on my phone, that’s very convenient. ReplyDeleteI like going to the movies, because there playing very good effect, feel very surprised, and I like to watch the movies about music and action movies, in watching the film I like to eat popcorn, I don't know why. Maybe has become a habit. For me, my favorite movie has two, one is the "Titanic", the other is a "secret". The two movies are very exciting, and moves. This year's "3 d of" Titanic "I'm going to watch my girl friend.
ReplyDeleteWatching movie alone on my laptop is my best choice. I don't like going to the cinema because a lot of people affect me. They will actually make a lot of noise. Staying in my room can make sure that the space is quite and I can think about the film.You can control the movie. For example, you can skip one part that you don't like. What's more, you can pause if you want to go to the restroom. But in order to watch 3D movie or other action movie, the cinema is a good choice. Food is an excellent decoration of the movie.I'd like have all kind of snacks during the movie.

In cinema, we have a great environment to see the film such as a big theater, the good sound quality and in a big, dark room. Furthermore, nowadays watching the 3D movies with the 3D-glasses is very famous. The 3D movies will give us more actual. therefore, watching movie in cinema is better than in computer. I like to eat some kinds of food such as ice cream, popcorn and tomato chips. My favorite kinds of movies are action and thriller.

I like to watch movie in the theater, because there is a big screen and they have really good sounds effect. I really enjoy sit there with many people even though i do not know them. And theater is a great place to go with my friend if we don't know how to spend our weekend time.And around these year we have iMax movie, it gives us a really good experience from the huge screen, and i never saw 3d movie as authentic as that.

I don't like going to the cinema just for a movie . But it doesn't mean I never go to the cinema . The cinema for me likes a good place to spend time with my friends. When I was in Shanghai , I and my friends usually went to the same cinema to watch the last movie .
Compera with watch films at home by myself ,I prefer seeing films in a theatre . In the theatre,they have bigger screen and better sound .I always think that the films become more interesting when I watch with lots of people , especially comedy . ReplyDeleteMovies are important for my life. In case i want to be a film director. As far as i consider, i think a good movie depends on so many different things. A small defect might destroy a movie. The 3D technology is a huge improvement in movie's history. The 3D technology makes the movie more vivid and it can pushes the viewers closer to the characters and the characters' situations. In my view, the music is also important. Sometimes if we change the background music, it might changes the manning of the movie. The actors and actress in a movie are important, they will help the movie gain more tentions from the people. I prefer to watch the movies in the film. I think the atmosphere in the film is different from watch the movie at home. I feel if we watch the movie with more people will feel more from the movie. I believe others' feeling will effect our own feeling. After i established a home movie theater , i bought a 3D screen and the best fit speakers for my movie system. Although the facilities are mostly close to the real film's facilities, but the feeling is different.
ReplyDeleteI prefer going to the cinema instead of watching at home. Because it has a huge screen which can easily bring audiences into the movie's situation. It aslo has a high quality acoustics. Then our emotion will influenced by their voices. Sometimes we will laugh with them, sometimes will cry with them, sometimes will be frightened with their screaming... Especially action movies, it even mixes many new media and technology up together. But for the comedy,I like watching it at home. Because I like watching comedy with my family. Sharing happiness with family is very important for me.
ReplyDeleteI like watching on my laptop or computer,sometimes I do go to the movie theater.I like watching movies in the movie theater with my friends.I never go alone.I feel fine if I watch the movie on a small monitor.I hate when I watch film and there's a person is sleeping.If I go to movie theater,I don't eat.At most I'll get some soda or water.I like soda better.I don't want to get my hands dirty while I watching the movies.That makes me fell uncomfortable.Anyway,watching movies is a wonderful plan for everybody who doesn't have a future plan during the weekends.
ReplyDeleteI like to watch movie at home with my family. It is free and comfortable. I enjoy watching movie with my mother.We always eat some food while we are watching. We eat fruit and some snack.But I would prefer to watch science fiction movie in cinema. It could make me feel more real to the movies. But when I decide to see a sad movie which would probably make my cry, I would like to choose not to go to theater. Because I don't want to cry in public place.

I am also a huge fans of scary movie and suspense movie, recently, i am obsessing in watching detective Holmes. I don't like watching movies with some strangers in a big theater because it's very loudly. I can't enjoy the movies when someone comment on the movies. Some people like talking about the movies when they are watching in the theater as others don't understand how are the movies going, it's very disturbing. However, it's very shocking to watch a 3D movie in a big theater cause they have good voice box. I like eating chips and chocolate when I watch movie. And I like watch historical movies with my smart father, he can tell me something about the history. Sometime I like watching movies on my phone in the bed even though that's not a good habit.
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of movies since last year.Comparing with watching movies on computers or TV,I perfer watching movies in theater,especially some science films like Avatar and Transformers.Because almost of them have great scenes.It’s a feeling you can’t feel by computer.What’s more,there is kind of movie that has special theme like This is it.This scene just like some pilgrims get together.But it is unrealistic to go to theater every time I want to watch movie.So some movies which focus on content like Forrest Gump is ok for me to watch it on computer.To be honest,I watch almost movie by computer.

In the theatre it has good effect of sound and the big screen can bring you different feeling. About comedy and love stories i like to share with my friends at home. We can make something to eat too. My sister's favourite is horror movies, she likes to watch it during the mid night!!! I really scared of it ....I don't want to watch movie with her forever...

Although the sounds of the movie in the theater are better , I can do whatever I want when I am watching movies at home . ReplyDeleteI don't like to see movies. Even if it is new movie, I do not go usually to see it. When I watch movies, I always fall asleep. If I have free time, I rarely watch movies. Some of my friends like going to the cinema. Sometimes they encourage me to go with them to keep them company. I also don't like going to see plays in theatres. I think theatres are for people who are old. For them, going to the theatres is very interesting because theatres were established in their time. Theatres for them are like the cinemas for us.
ReplyDeleteIf I go to the movies, I like films about wars which happen in our time. From each of those films, I learn something new. There are a lot of "lessons" in war films. For example, you need to help people, treat people well, etc. Also, I like 3-D glasses, but when I watch films in 3-D glasses, I don't feel anything. I prefer to watch cartoons in 3-D glasses. If I go to the cinema, I do not buy any food. People who eat food during the film are very noisy. It especially bothers me when people eat pop-corn and chips.
I never watch movies at home because it is boring. My brother likes movies very much. If he sees an advertisement for a new movie on the internet, he watches it.
I am not going to persuade people to not go to the cinemas. I just want to say that when you do go to the cinema you have to be respectful of other people.
I prefer to watch comedy or romance movies on TV or laptops with my parents or friends. I cannot really accept to watch movies with a lot of strangers and stand the air that is not fresh in theater at all. Sitting in a comfortable seat, eating some snacks, and no one gonna effect you at home, these are much better than the theater. But I have to admit that the theater has a better ability to build the atmosphere that movies need. I like to eat all kinds of good foods no matter how it’s weird.
ReplyDeleteActually, I like both ways to see the movies. However, I would like to see action movies and 3-D movies in the theater. The visual and sound effects are wonderful! Horror movies are one of the good choice to see in the theater, but I can't stand them, I never see horror movies.... I also prefer to see comedy in the theater because more people to see, more funny it will.I prefer to see romantic movie in my computer alone or with my friend, it's more comfortable. further more, I think eat snack while seeing a movie will destroy atmosphere, so I don't like eat things like popcorn while seeing a movie especially a romantic movie!
ReplyDeleteI love sitting in the theater. I love the great acoustic and the life-like pictures. It seems like I am the character in the film. I have experienced the different kinds of life that I can’t live in my really life. I also enjoy watching movies on my computer to enjoy myself. I can do anything I want during the movie. Such as drinking cokes, eating snacks. I can laugh whenever I want. Watching some classic film along will let you think more about your life. You will learn more from the film. The things that the film wants to tell you. I like the movie that talk about the school life or the tragedy. These kinds of films will let us learn different part of this world,this community. They will let us grow up. Film is a way let us learn more about the world, film can let us experience the different lives,different world,different people.

ReplyDeleteWhat I usually do is to buy or rent a movie then play it in the dvd player in the lounge to share it with friends. We always rent movies from The Red Box and play it at night before going to sleep. We move sofas and chairs together in the lounge to watch the movie. It will be better if we have a projector so we can use it to play movies on the wall clearly.

He made a lot of movies in his all life and some of them are very popular. I like watching movies at home because it's free. Sometimes I also watch movie at cinema with my friends. I don't like eating when I am watching movie, but I like drinking when I am watching movie. I have never seen a 3-D movie before, I will go to cinema to see a 3-D movie if there is a chance.

And I prefer seeing movies at cinema rather than on TV and computer. Because I think see the movie at the cinema have a amazing atmosphere. And it is easily to joining the movie.

I love Oscars and of course I love movies.Specially, I love "love movies". I prefer watching it in a cinema with my best friends than myself alone in the house. On other hands, I like to be with my friends. About "love movies", I think they can encourage me sometimes and help me to make it easier to see everything in the world. I love the sense of that.And action movies are good also. Usually in the cinema in China, we bought a small bucket of popcorn and usually a cup of coke or sprite. I really enjoy the sense in the cinema. I have never been to a cinema since I came to US, but I really want to get the sense of it.

I prefer to watch movies in the cinema. when I watch action movies or science fiction film，the big screen and the completely dark enviornment is better than the computer screen or television. Comedy and the film about LOVE will be better watch with the family and friends, it will be funny and happiness.Movie sometimes is good way to teach somebody learn something or understand somethings. Sitting in front of the screen with the popcorn and drinks, watching wonderful films, it's really one of the most happy moments in the world.

ReplyDeletemy favorite movie is Forrest Gump. This a old movie told us a Low IQ boy grow up story.
He moved me and inspired me to have the courage to overcome their difficulties in difficult times. Forrest Gump is a great movie,although it is old and not too many computer effects and 3-D.But romantic story and Forrest realized the joy of his own ideal let me was moved .
Well, there certainly are a lot of diverse opinions among you about movies: where to watch them, how to watch them, who to watch them with, whether to eat or not...Just about everyone loves watching movies of one kind or another - with a couple of exceptions; there's no question they are popular forms of entertainment.

The screen is also the reason why I go to cinema,the screen is really big,and make me feel I’m one of the person in the movie. I also like watch movie with my friends or girl friend because I can chat with them quietly during the movie. If I’m unable to go to cinema, I always watch movies on my computer. I don’t like eat food during the movie. The only thing I need is a cup of coke. I like movies especially science fictions and action movies. If there is a good movie,I would like to hear from you, you can share to me.
I really love watching movie, but I don't like watching without anyone. I think a movie should be excited, so it's better to watching with many of your friends. I love to drink when i watching the movie because sometimes I will getting thirty when I watching movie that somewhere excited. Last week I was going to see the movie called hunger games. the story is tell us a girl and a boy's "game". this is a dangerous game, but also excited. many of their friends died, but the are the finally winner in the end.
ReplyDeleteI like going to the cinema with my friends. I always eating a pop corn there and we have a lot of fun in cinema. I prefer to stay home and watching movies there because im to lazy to go somewhere. Always im outside and playing some sports or in a school, so im not watching a TV lot. I don't have a time for TV. Of course im watching tv but not a lot.
