Winter has finally come to New England. There's snow on the ground, and the temperatures have gotten colder. Sweaters, coats, hats, gloves, and boots need to be worn. Some people love the winter; they go outside and do winter sports such as skiing, or just go for walks in the outdoors and appreciate snowy beauty. Other people can't wait for spring; they don't like the snow and cold, and they go outside as little as possible while the cold season lasts. What kind of person are you? Journal Question #10
Winter has finally come to New England. There's snow on the ground, and the temperatures have gotten colder. Sweaters, coats, hats, gloves, and boots need to be worn. Some people love the winter; they go outside and do winter sports such as skiing, or just go for walks in the outdoors and appreciate snowy beauty. Other people can't wait for spring; they don't like the snow and cold, and they go outside as little as possible while the cold season lasts. What kind of person are you? Do you have any suggestions to those who don't like winter on how to make the most of this time of year?

eh......I want to say l prefer winter than spring or summer.
ReplyDeleteI like to take a walk in winter, I'm not afraid of cold weather.
And I think it's better to walk in snow instead in heavy sunshine. (I just talk about saco, not other places.
I think spring is a season that people are easy to get sick. Is saco's spring is very warm too? I don't know.
In my hometown, spring is nearly warm as initial summer. (we just have a very short time in veryof hot weather.
As for summer, it's so hot for me and it's a time there are the most number of insects. It makes me very uncomfortable. I hate insects in some way because they are dirty and they suck people's blood.
Summer is a wet season. It's awful if your clothes are wet and closed to you because of sweat.
In fact my favorite season is autumn. Not so hot, not so cold.
I don't need to worry about it's hard to go out because of the snow; I don't need to worry about insects, the wet air, the heavy sunshine, the sweated shirts make me uncomfortable.
I think do sports in winter is more difficult. But it's a good chance to challenge yourself, isn't it? Winter has its own special sports that can't be done in any other time.
So, don't only think about the cold wind and snow. There is a lot of unbelievable fun in winter you should try!
Well, actually I don't like winter so much.It's not very convenient to walk outside during the winter. I prefer a warmer atmosphere. Though snow is pretty, the melted snow is disgusting. It makes my boots become dirty. Some accidents almost happen on me. But luckily, I haven't fallen yet. It' s okay for me to stay in the room instead of going outside. Winter sports might be fun but I'm not a sportif person. I love autumn, a beautiful season. The climate is perfect and you can't complain anything about it . I wish winter will leave soon. But one of the benefits is that people can't find your real size during the winter because of the big coats and sweaters.

ReplyDeleteI like Spring,spring is everything growth of season, people sowing the seed.When the autumn comes,they can get the fruit, plant were most like spring has, because spring can absorption lots of soil, and also can absorption large of essence and water, also has spring Peach Flower flower opened, also after the spring rain,it will has a beautiful Rainbow appeared, this is spring of advantages.And the weather is really comfortable,it is not hot and not really cold.It makes me happy and relax.
I also really like summer and autumn,too!In summer,you can go to the beach and swim,and you can also eat ice cream too!In autumn.you can see the beautiful maple,I really like maple.I love the color and I like when the leaf falling down.

I think you should stay the home and watch some TV and eat something during the winter.
I like winter but there are too much snow in Saco. It makes me feel sick about winter.During these time i go out as less as possible and i were heave jacket every day and drink a lot of hot water. But i enjoy watching the snow falling down and i like to stay at home to play some video game with my friend.

ReplyDeleteI like winter very much!It's so beautiful in winter.The snowflakes is dancing in the air,and everything looks like wearing white clothes.I don't like running or playing basketball because it'll make the skin excretes sweat.It's uncomfortable for me.So,skiing or skating is more suitable for me.If you don't like winter,you'd better see a movie or eat hot-pot.It's a good weather to eat lots of delicious food.In winter,It's not so cold in outside,you should attempt to do some sport like skiing.There are a lots of fun.In my opinion,winter is a wonderful season.
ReplyDeleteI prefer every seasons especially Winter. I love Winter over here, even though it's very cold. I like the ground which is cover by the snow. The snow-white grond give me a very clean feeling. We have never been snow in my hometown. Maybe this a reason that why i love snow in winter. Furthermore, we have a lots of interesting activity like skiing, skating in the winter time. There also have some indoor sport during the winter. I hope the people who don't like the outdoor activity can join the indoor sport.
ReplyDeleteIn my hometown, most of the people do the common thing in winter-barbecue. We make barbecue in the foreyard of my house frequently. We can enjoy the food we make by ourself and warn up by the heat. I think the people like this activity most.
I don't like winter,it's cold and dry.I like snow pretty much.That gives us school day off.I've never seen big snow like here.Cold winter makes me sick and tired.Don't want to get up.I rather spring is coming soon this year,so I don't have to wear too warm.That's really heavy......
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I prefer summer rather than winter. Winter presents cold and death. Most of the trees have withered, we can't see the green plants and the colorful flowers anymore in the Winter. I love to go outside and do something for fun. I love skiing but my parents feel skiing it is too dangerous. Therefore, I tried to do something else. My favorite activity in winter is sleepping, but just kidding. I am in the indoor track team, and i am a distance runner. I love to do the distance, because i feel i can escape reality when i am running. Even the temperature is only about 17 degrees, i am still go for a 3~5miles run. I also like swimming in the winter. I suggest my friends to do some outside activities, especially some of the girls who want to lose weight.

Spring is beautiful and green. In spring, the air is fresh, the sky is blue, the clouds are white. I often wear a red sweater and blue jean. I can fly kites on the green grass. In March we can plant trees. In spring, the weather is always sunny and warm, usually I go shopping. Sometimes I go hiking and climb mountains. I like spring.
i think winter is good looking, because snows coming out from the sky, everything will become white, although it is so beautiful, still i dont like winter, because i need to wear to many clothes to keep myself warm. furthermore, when the time is snowing, there are many activities need to be cancel, so thats why i dont like winter. if i need to campare with 4seasons, i would like to choose spring, spring is warm enough to me, and it is comfortable, so i like spring the most.

For the person who mostly lives in the south part of China, snowing is a really unusually thing.But it's not so good to have too much snow here. when the snow is melting, the surface of the snow is so smooth, and it's easy to fall down. And I had that disgusting experience before. To keep warm, I have to wear a lot of clothes outside, but I don't have inside because of the heater,so it's also very easy to get cold. My suggestion to spend the winter time is staying in the home for most time, surfing the internet, chatting with families, and drinking some hot coffee, these are all really good choices.

ReplyDeleteI am ok with any season. but i think winter is good for me. i don't like the weather too hot , that will let me very uncomfortable. but i feel ok with cold , Maine is a very cold place i have ever been. now , i got used to it and feel it is comfortable inside. though outside is very cold, and have too much snow, but inside, we can feel very comfortable, even we can just wear a T -shirt.Also, we can play many sports in the winter, like ski and snow tubing. it have lots of fun , i love it !
ReplyDeleteWinter comes so late here!!! In my city, It has already began snow for two months. Usually we have 10 more snows and more then 3 storms every year. People in my city don't like snow days. firstly, it is impossible to clean up so much snow on the road so cars are not possible to move and people go to work late. Secondly, students don't have snow day break on snow days which means we need to go to school in the cold winter. Thirdly, so much coal is needed in the heat center to sent hot water into every warmer in every building. It cause so much pollution.

my favourite season is winter. the whole world is white. We can make snow man and throw snow balls to each other. Winter is a romantic season. I can hang out with my friends under the colorful umbrella enjoying the beautiful snowy day.

Compare with summer, I think winter is a better season.It is very cool .I love snow .It is so beautiful and it means I can go skiing.Although I have never gone skiing,I have great interest in it.In my hometown ,there always no snow in winter.When I arrived at Maine and see such a white pretty world,I feel so excited and pleased . ReplyDeleteAlthough the winter is cold and it’s not convinent to walk outside in this season, I prefer winter rather than other seasons. It is a romantic season and the season is full of snow. I love snow very much. It makes the world white and beautiful. In my hometown, the capital city, there will be snow in winter, but not so much. In the snow day, I can make a snowman and make a fight with snow with my friends. I like the feeling that I have with my friends. That’s a sense of happiness and luck. Then I also love the sports in winter such as skiing and skating. For those people who do not like winter, they can watch movies in a cinema, or just have a walk for a while. I love this season so much and we will have snow days while the snow!
ReplyDeleteActually,I prefer autumn than winter because in my hometown winter is wet and cold.It's really uncomfortable at all.And the most troublesome problem is getting up in such a chill morning is extraordinary hard.But the contrast of Saco's winter and my hometown's winter is great. An obvious example is here has big snow.In my hometown,there is snow hardly.So the impression of winter in Saco for me is snow,very big snow.And the big snow means pleasure.Because we can heap snowman,ski and have snowball fight,It’s very interesting.

Walking on snow in a sunny day is a wonderful thing to me. Winter is the end of a year and also a beginning of a new year. It's not like summer and spring such noisy and fidgety. In winter, we can review the whole year past and prepare for the new year. Make our own goals.And in winter, we can do a lot of interesting things. Such as play hockey, ski, skate, and make snowmen. In my hometown, I never see so much snow. The snow in my hometown is very thin, and it always snows with raining. That's too bad! But here, it's dry enough, so we can see a very beautiful snow sight. We can also make snowman or have a snowball fight on snow days. As the outdoor activity, skiing and skating are really fun and exciting. Actually, I don't like winter so much. It's so cold! I can't stand this weather. I should wear lots of clothes, it looks fat. And if snowing hardly, it's very inconvenient, we can't go out and lots of activities will canceled. I prefer the spring, it's a very comfortable season. Actually, if you don't like the weather in winter, you can just stay in the house and see the snow, listening the radio and relax.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was in Russia I played Ice hockey with my friends every day because I love hockey. I like snow so much snow,you can play with snow and you can do ice shapes.In Russia so cold right now colder than Saco.We have -36C and teenager don't need go to school.
I m so surprised about winter in America. Winter here is not winter for me.I never saw snow and rain together.A lot of schools have snow day.Snow day is day when so much snow and teenagers don't go to school.A lot of people here like such as skiing and just go for a walk.
who doesn't like winter they should state in home and to sit by the fireplace.If you want go for a walk in winter you need have Sweaters, coats, hats.This should warm you.I saw today children ,they rushed snow it was fun.Winter day is the same day with summer but colder you need have fun every day because if you sitting home you don't know what is a mean winter.

Winter is a good season for some people, but I don't like winter. I don't like wearing a lot of clothes. It's very heavy to work with jackets and I don't feel good. This winter is so special, because it's the first winter I spend in other country and I haven't seen snow before this winter. Winter is a big season for the hockey guys and skiing guys. My roommate plays in varsity hockey team, he's very proud of that. My friend Lilian love skiing, she invited me to ski with her but I haven't tried before, and she told me I should try this sport. Yes, I will learn to ski but I think it will be very hard for me and I will fell down a lot. The tubing trip is fun I think, but it's the only outdoor trip I will go to in winter. I like summer and spring especially spring. We can do many outdoor sports and in summer. Spring is a very comfortable season not hot and not cold and I never get sick in spring.

As a student that lives in the south of China,I haven’t seen so big snow in the past 16 years, besides the unusual heavy snow in 2008 ,of crouse. To tell the truth, winter is not my favorite season,I don’t like wearing like a bear. It seems foolish and inconvenient. I like summer better because of the sun shine and the suitable clothes.

When the snow falling down,I find that it is not so cold on the snow day,I don’t need to upset for the inconvenient clothes. ReplyDeleteI don't like winter because it is cold and I have to wear a lot like sweaters , coats , hats , gloves and boots on my body in order to keep myself warm . Those things are heavy and thick , they make me feel uncomfortable . In addition , the cold temperature seem to make everything inactive , die and frozen . I just can't find the energy and passion for me to move and become active . In Hong Kong , the temperature in winter is around 10 to 16 degrees Celsius . This temperature is more sensible for me . I had never seen snow before I came here . I don't like snow because it makes the roads wet , look dirtier and we can't go outside with snow . But I still love snow day !

Sweaters, coats, hats, gloves, and boots need to be worn. I like winter. Here a winter is not as cold as in Russia and I like it. In winter the weather is very cold. It can be 40 degrees below zero in my city named Tomsk. Now the temperature in Tomsk is minus 37; all students must go to school. I think a lot of people don't like winter. Unfortunately, some people are getting sick in this season. These people can't wait for spring; they don't like the snow and cold, and they go outside as little as possible while the cold season lasts. Another people do winter sports. There are a lot kinds of winter sport, and one of them is hockey. I like hockey so much. In Russia we were playing hockey outside. It is not surprise for me to see a snow. There is a great deal of snow in Tomsk. I was unaware about one of the rules at TA named " snow day ". If we have same rule in my school, we will not go to school in winter. I have a reason why do I not like Russian winter; it is because you have to wear a lot of warm clothes. In my opinion, a winter is a great season because people who don't like this season can spend more time for doing their homework. Every year winter comes and we must be enthusiastic to winter. Don't be sad in winter time. Just be happy because you have not been in Russia where it is really cold. Try to find positive moments and enjoy every season. Every season is beautiful in its own way.
ReplyDeletei love winter because of that we can skiing in winter, and i also can watch the snow in winter, its very beautiful. when i wake up and open eyes, look at the windows, all of the camps are white. if its too early, theres no persons walking on the ground. last snowday, i was wake up at 8, and my friends let went to the outside, we took out our shirt. and standing on the ground. thats really funny, and im not cold when i holding the snow on my hand without shirt. when end of the snow, its become ice, so we can play tubin, this is a very excited game. we walk on the top of the montain, and then, we go down like skiing, its so fast but no dangerous. anyway, i like winter, because winter make me feel so excited, and winter is a beautiful weather.
ReplyDeleteHonest I don't like winter,I think winter is too cold,I have to wear sweater,boots and socks,that is heavy and I can't go playing basketball outside.Sometimes it will snow in the winter,although it is beautiful,but it is dangerous.The road will become wet,and the drivers will in danger,the road is too slippery too drive.But there are some good things happen in winter.The new year and spring festival are in the winter,I love spring festival,I can get a lot of pocket money in spring festival.I don't like winter,but I like snow days!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest.I wanna say winter is a wonderful season,but as for me,I don't like winter.Now,winter is coming,everyone goes outside or mountains for skiing.Just like my homestay,they like playing with the ice,therefore the like winter very much.Up to now, they went to skiing for three times.
ReplyDeleteActually I don't like the winter because I can't stand the cold temperatures!You can imagine,10Fahrenheit make my body get curl up and sometimes make people get sick.That's terrible.The other reason I hate the winter is I don't like wearing too much.Heavy stuffs make person feel uncomfortable,I like wearing the soft clothes,I guess everyone thought is much better than dress heavily!
Anyway,`winter is beautiful,but in my view,I don't like winter expect skiing!
I don't like winter or summer.I like spring and autumn.Because the weather is perfect,not too hot,not too cold.I enjoy that temperatures.I always hang out during that time.And I can do some exercises outside.Because I don't like winter,so I have no suggestions for the people who doesn't like winter,because I'm one of them.Maybe somebody will helps me and gives me some suggestions.
ReplyDeleteI like every season, because each season is special. Spring's vitality, summer's vigor, fall's gain, winter's plain. Different season gives us a different environment, and this is why some people hate the seasons. The funniest thing in winter is the snow, but some people hates snow. It is too cold to them in the winter, so them stay indoors everyday. They feel so bored, and play computer all the day. It makes them turn fat and lazy. My advise is to do some indoor sports, because you can get strong easier in the winter than in the summer. If you don't like sports, whatever, you also can read books, sleep all day and look forward to spring. Don't give up. because Percy Bysshe Shelley have written:

ReplyDeleteActually,winter is the season that I really don’t like.In my hometown,I think it’s cold enough during winter.The temperature is very low.People always wear coat,gloves,scarfs,and boots if they want to go outside,but here,I think the weather is colder than my hometown several times!The weather is super cold and the temperture is super low too.I hate winter,so I stay outside as few time as possible.But some people have opposite opinion.They really like winter.They do a lot of sports at winter.I admit there are a lot of benefits that we can get if we do sports during winter and I will convince myself go outside regularly from now on.I hope I can be used of winter after having some trainings.

DeleteWinter is coming, I think it is the most beautiful season in a year, especially when you wake up in the morning, whole world is wearing white clothes, all things covered by snow, without any colors just white. Doing outdoor activities are the most wonderful time in winter. With ice and snow, we can skiing and skating, we can make snowman and have a snow fight. I like skating best, it is very elegant. If you don't like to go outside or cold in winter, you can stay in home and eat something like hot pot or drink some tea. it is a romantic to see snowflakes fall down from the sky with the person you love. I love winter.

In my hometown , Shanghai , I never see snow , maybe some light snow. But I don't think it's real snow. So when the first time I sew the snow in Maine , I was so excited . It’s the first time I saw real snow . And if we have a big snow , we will have no school!!!

People don’t like to go outside. They have to wear heavy coats, scarves and gloves. But children like to be outside. Because it often snows. There is snow around. There is ice on the ground. I like winter so much because it's a season full of snow. In other words, I like snow very much. I am so lucky to be here which the climate is similar as my hometown. In my hometown, there's snow too, but it's not as big as here. But when I see the snow, I miss my hometown and my friends, my parents. In both my hometown and here, I love to make a snowman and then fight with the snow with my friends. I love the sky when it's snowing too. It's so romantic and peaceful, although it's a little bit cold. Then I love the sports in winter, such as skiing and skating. Winter is the season that I love most and there's so many reasons that I love the season.So I wish the winter could be longer here.

Those of you who don't like the snow and cold have gotten lucky this winter because it has been unusually warm and dry. In any case, winter officially ends near the end of March.
ReplyDeleteToday is February 6,the winter also will finish soon.It is too bad because in my hometown,it's very hard to see the snow.Until now,it have 3 years no snowy there.So I really miss it!I want to play snow with friends.We can make the snowman,have the snowball fighting and do some sightseeing on somewhere have very good scenery of snow!~In Saco,I have joined the "Snow Tubing Trip",that was too cold there but it was very interesting,so I enjoyed it!!But the temperature become higher and higher,maybe the spring is coming~I promise next winter I must have to play snow enough,do the skating,skilling...
ReplyDeleteWinter is one of my favorite two seasons,because it will be too cold sometimes,and another season summer will be so hot~But,I still love winter very much!!!~~~

ReplyDeleteWhen I was in Russia I played ice hockey with my friends every day because I love hockey. I like snow so much snow. You can play with snow and you can do ice shapes. In Russia, so cold right now. It is colder than Saco. We have -36C and teenager don't need go to school.
I'm so surprised about winter in America. Winter here is not winter for me. I never saw snow and rain together. A lot of schools have snow days. Snow days are days when there is so much snow and teenagers don't go to school. A lot of people here like skiing and going for a walk.
The people who don't like winter should state home and sit by the fireplace. If you want go for a walk in winter, you need have Sweaters, coats and hats. This should warm you. I saw children today ,they rushed snow, it was fun. Winter days are the same day as summer but colder. You need have fun every day because if you sitting home, you don't know what means winter.
I'm so surprised by American winters.
I don't like winter anyway because it's very cold and i don't like the cold weather. I don't like the cold weather because it will makes me wear a lot cloth to keep me warm, in that case I will look very fat,looks like a Teddy Bear. I like cool and warm weather because it's not cold in that kind of weather, I can wear any cloth I want,and also no need to be a Teddy Bear!
ReplyDeleteActually I don't like winter. I do not like to wear too much clothes, it makes me uncomfortable. In winter, it is hard to get up from the bed because it is too cold and I want to stay on the bed. Also, It wastes money for buying the winter clothing. If it is snowing, I can't do any sport or activities outside and it is too trouble.
ReplyDeleteIn my hometown, the weather usually stay at 25C. I think that is the best temperature for me. I won't need to turn on any heater or air conditioning. Also I can wear comfortably.
Winter is a very interesting season. I like winter best. In winter although there be very cold, it will snow. My birthday is in November and maybe is 's one of the reason why i like winter so much.
ReplyDeleteIn winter if it snow, we can also play with snow and have fun with our friends. Some of couples can also walk in the road and it will must be romantic. In winter we will have a lot of festivals, like Spring Festival and Christmas. It will be very fun.
The snow is also good for crops. It can helps farmer to eliminate pests. The crops can grow very strong.
I like winter. I love when outside is really cold and temperature is low. I like winter because im playing hockey and hockey is a sport for winter. I had a lot of fun this winter with my boys because we were playing hockey on a little creeks. It was really nice time and winter for me. I think country looks so beautiful, when the snow faling down on a ground.
