The disaster has killed thousands of people in northeast Japan, and there is a danger that a couple of nuclear power stations that were damaged by the catastrophe might "melt down," releasing harmful radiation into the air. Journal Question #26 (2010-2011)
As you know by now, there was a terrible earthquake and tsunami in Japan on Friday. The disaster has killed thousands of people in northeast Japan, and there is a danger that a couple of nuclear power stations that were damaged by the catastrophe might "melt down," releasing harmful radiation into the air. The scenes of destruction are unbelievable and very scary and sad. Please contribute any reactions you have to this event.

I know this serious earthquake in japan. For now I'm worried about that nuclear power plant at Fukushima. I heard that nuclear power plant is blowing some matters with radiation. Radiation caused by nuclear reaction is very dangerous. I'm afraid we will see the Chernobyl accident happens again. But I heard the protect system of nuclear power plant is safer than the Chernobyl. So we don't need worry about the problem right now. Also I'm pray to the people in the earthquake area, I hope they can do recover quickly, and feels better.
ReplyDeleteAlso from this earthquake we need to learn some skills to protect ourself during the earthquake, japan teach the students at school. If japan doesn't teach students how to protect your self during a earthquake, I would think twice of people will dead. So I think we should have learn some skills of protection in the earthquake, it will be safe to us. Also from this earthquake we can know, we need to protect our earth. If we protect our earth, this kink of event will be reduced

It s kind of scary too. There are so many wired things going on on earth this year. it kind of making me believing 2012. Life is short we never know what is going on tomorrow. So we should catch the moment we have
ReplyDeleteI am really sorry for all the japanese people and I hope and wish that they can fix soon their country. This earthquake and the tsunami were horrible. In my opinion this is a serious problem. I think it is really unfair, because this kind of tragedy we can not do anything to evit it.
ReplyDeleteWe can not control the nature. Also I think it is very unafir that always everything happen to Japan. They give a lot to the rest of the world and they just have always bad luck and terrible situations.
Two days ago my father told me that I have an uncle who lives in Japan, in Tokio. He and his family they are all safe. Thanks God.
I think Japan is a strong country and they will know how to resolve the situation, but still being a terrible tragedy.
Unfortunally we just can pray for them or maybe make some donations. I hope that everything will be ok soon....

ReplyDeleteI knew that the terrible earthquake. It was like 8.5 on Friday, which was the first time i heard that news but it change into 9.0 very soon. I can still see the news about Japanese. My home stay parents are very worry about japan too. We decided to have a fundraiser and help the people in japan.
ReplyDeleteI think there are many people worrying about the nuclear power plant. But the news said that's not as dangerous as people thought and i choose to believe it. I hope everything will be better soon.
This earthquake happened Japan is one of the most terrible earthquake in the world. A lot of people died and lost because of that. People in the whole world pray for Japan. I have 3 friends who are studying in Japan, but the Vietnam Government gave them the free ticket to go back to Vietnam because of the nuclear power plant. Everyone worry for Japan and I hope everything will be better soon though I think it will take a not-short time to increase the economics as well as everything. We are praying for Japan and believing that Japanese can against this disaster.

Many people worried about the nuclear power. I think the catastrophe might damage the nuclear power stations and releasing harmful radiation into the air, but I don't think it will be that dangerous as most of people thought.
The earthquake and the tsunami make me think about the end of the world will really be in 2012.
The earthquake and the tsunami make me feel that people’s life is so short. We can’t know what will happen next day. We can’t know how longer we can live with our families and the people we love.
I really don’t want to see any disaster happen in the world. Disasters always make us so grieved and so scared.
I don’t know what is going on next day. I hope that the things will get better and better. And I hope that it won’t affect China.

ReplyDeleteI never experience an earthquake or a tsunami ,so I can't feel the despair and depress.But I still hope that all the Japanese can cheer themselves up and build their again.I have a friend who studies in Japan,she just went back to China several days ago.She lives in Chiba-ken, a city near Fukushima.She told me how terrible the earthquake was.Luckily her family is alright.
But now,the most important thing is the nuclear power plant. Will the nuclear release effect China ? It's a problem which every Chinese wants to know.
I hope everything can be fine and Japanese can against the earthquake and the tsunami.
i was shocked when i heard this news. after i saw the pictures and videos about this disaster happened in japan, i feel really bad about Japanese people. and i heard the bad things are still keep happening, cause their nuclear power might' melt down' and this makes everything more complicate.cause the government need to control the new nuclear power but also they need to help their people to back on track after the earthquake. So, i think right now japan need the help from us more than ever,and we need to start to make the move.

ReplyDeleteI was really astonished when I heard of this event. I feel really sad and bad for the people in Japan, I hope they will be fine soon.I saw some pictures and videos from Internet. I saw people crying, running,it really move my heart. I think people all over the world need to band together to help them get through with this terrible disaster.
ReplyDeleteEarthquake and tsunami took many lives away and broke many happy families into pieces.I feel sad.But on the other hand,it is pathetic that human believe we have right command the nature,it is our time to pay back.This is the consequence that we need to take,we need to confess that we are ruled by the nature,we are so humble in front of the power of nature!

ReplyDeleteNobody can imagine the what the real situation will be if you don't experience the disaster. All the fantastic buildings were destroyed and the whole city was ruined. It's unfair to those people who lost their life. They are supposed to have the same right as we have to enjoy the life.
Meanwhile, I believe this is another warning. If human-beings continue do something harmful to nature, there will happen more disasters. Being friendly to nature, and then we will have a more safety environment.
I made a birthday wish, which is no more disasters will happen and all the people around me can live on the earth safety.

I was really surprised when I heard the earthquake and tsunami are extreme serious in Japan. I have been to Japan twice. It was a clean, historical, and modern country. To be honest, lots of countries are a little bit too identical to others and lost a lot of historical and typical culture. At this point, I think Japan have done a good job.
ReplyDeleteI have loved Detective Conan(A Japanese cartoon) for 9 years and I have not seen the ending. So when I heard the author of it missed, I was really upset and worried. But now he is safe.
Also, my idol--Tony Sun, is going to travel to Tokyo in April to take photos for his new book. He said he believe that Japanese can build there city again in a very short time. And he will not change his plan as long as he can fly there. Although I do not really want him go in April, I believe Japanese will make there live back to the normal way very soon--just as Tony said.
At first I heard about the earthquake I felt like it won't cause a big problem since Japanese people are getting so used to earthquakes. But when I got to know it was 9.0 I felt bad for them. And after the earthquake all kinds of other bad situations showed up which is really bad. Hopefully that they will be able to fix them country soon. I have to say that they are so much better at facing the earthquake than us. I still remember the earthquake which took place in China in 2008. That earthquake was so bad that 69227 died and more than 10000 people are missing. I hope that we would be able to get the technology that Japanese have so that we can decrease the death number.

Interesting, heartfelt comments, everyone - I learned about earthquakes, China, and humankind from reading them. Allen's comment about the power of Nature - much greater than human power - strikes me as true. Also, Sunny mentioned the idea that Nature was responding to human affairs - is that possible? Could nature be sending us a "message"?

ReplyDeleteEarthquake is a very bad thing for the world. I really feel sad about Japanese are lost families and houses. Earthquake it's very unnecessary. Earthquake it's a replacement for us. Human do so many bad thing in the earth. We get everything from the earth and we made so many dirty things. For example our factory made much dirty products and we just push them to the river or sea. And so many countries are testing the nuclear bone. The nuclear bone might make earthquake happened. But that's impossible i don't believe some of the movies i don't think human we kill them selves and make the world end. I think the J.P earthquake is the attention for us. We have to respond to earth to replace our fault.
ReplyDeleteThis is a horrible disaster for Japanese to experience. Thousands of people die during this disaster and billions of money lost for pay, that the earthquake destroy. Nothing can worse than disaster, it snatches people's family, happiness, house and life. But because this destroy, the people in the world begin together again. We are blessing them, we are contributing them, we are doing as much as we can. Suddenly I realize why people always unite together when a disaster happens. Why peace always happen after disaster.

ReplyDeleteI remember I've watch a movie which name is Nihon chinbotsu. Nihon, which means Japan in Japanese. This movie assumes that one day, Japan is covered by water, and the volcano erupts which is similar to what had happened in Japan. While watching this movie, I cried as it's so hard to put myself in that horrible environment. It's hard to accept that my family and friends were killed because of the earthquake.
I am blessing all the Japanese and people who have family and friends in Japan.
Oh, it's a terrible picture. It's hard to imagine the scene had occurred. I got a feeling that the reality become similar to the movie called 2012. Because of too many human activities, the earth is already started destroyed. Hope that we can protect our family from natural disasters. We also need to protect our earth but not use for tools.

In this Earthquake, thousands of people dead. Tsunami destroy people's house. more than thousands people are homeless, the earth is keep being bad position. so many disasters showing up now. we need to protect our planet. earth's environment is deteriorate. we need to do Environmental Protection.

Japan is an island that has a lot of earthquake but their buildings had been built specially to support this. all the buildings have a swimming pool in the roof so it can help a lot. So what did happen was that people at de beginning was walking at the street while the earthquake was happening the worst thing was that this earthquake produced an huge tsunami that destroyed everything. This tsunami destroyed some nuclear companies and that was the worst part of everything.

ReplyDelete1. Everyone knows this earthquake point is not on the ground, it's under the sea about several kilometers far away from that small town. The level is 9. But according to the research, in the pase ten years, this place had earthquake more than ten times at exactly the same place. The level is about 5 or 6. Why?
2. The nuclear power stations that in japan is the primary one. These kind of nuclear power stations waste energy but can create the Plutonium which can make nuclear bomb.
Who knows if the earthquake is their mistake when they were trying the N-bomb under the sea.
Do you still think Japan is a poor country?
